With Keita and Vvd looking like no gos now I think Some of the other players we are "reportedly" interested in don't really show a club with intent to really challenge for the title and good progress in Europe.
It looks more like a club buying value players and hoping they succeed. Are the other fullbacks and cbs linked to us a lot better than what we have?
If the player is not markedly better than a current first 11 player then honestly why bother.
It's just more squad padding like what Rogers did during his tenure.

{Ed002's Note - Regardless of what happens it is nothing to do with "intent". The club need to buy players that can improve the squad and the first team. I have never been convinced about Klopp's abilities in the transfer market but if he goes down the road of buying for the sake of it, the you will not see the improvements that are needed.}

He made some great signings at Dortmund ed. after sellling 17 players in his first transfer window there, you can hardly doubt his ability in the transfer market to build a team. Sure he may not have got the best back up options in, caulker/ klavan. But those he's bought for the first team we cannot knock in mane and Gini.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, I agree - many years ago he did do well for a while. But in recent years it has been very different.}

You don't lose your knack for it though ed. look at arsene, not won anything in years, still makes some great signings in bellerin/ Sanchez of recent times.
As you allude to missing first options, I. e brandt, It's now down to klopp to adjust his plans to salah. Two extremely different players so klopp must be heading in a different direction to the way he wants to play. An if anyone is asking me, which they aren't, Im actually more excited about salah than I would of been Brandt.
Wasn't mane and gini second options too?
I know there's a lot to knock klopp for, but dealings in the transfer market really isn't one.

{Ed002's Note - It is not just Brandt they missed out on Benny.}

Keep saying Salah was third choice, we're going for at very best third choice LB. window is almost a disaster before it's really started. 1st choice midfielder and CB are no goes either. Disaster.

Are there any other targets we have missed out on ed that me and the other posters might not know about?

{Ed002's Note - I am not psychic have no idea what you know and don't know.}

08 Jul 2017 16:36:28
Pls pardon my ignorance, who were the first option to Mane and Gini?

{Ed002's Note - That was not this season.}

Benny, Mane and Gino were both expensive buys (well at last years player prices) . Both were proven in English football, Both, on prior form, were improvements on what we currently had and have shown this by nailing down first team roles.
Can you honestly say that about some of the current players we are being linked to?

Thanks for the reply Ed02.

You mean like Robertson and Vvd mcgov?

08 Jul 2017 17:29:07
Benny, my first line was "with Vvd looking like a no go"
