Hope your man flu is improving.
We know that you are not VVD's biggest fan. Personally I think he is a marked improvement on what we have and could get even better with the right coaching.
Given the position we are in the window who would you like to push to sign for the CB position that would be a feasible option at this time?
Would you push for VVD given he is "desperate" to join us? Would you go for someone else, if so, who? Or would you just forget it, stick with what we have and look again in the future?

{Ed001's Note - considering that our actions have massively contributed to the situation that VVD is in, I feel we have to do the right thing by him and sort something out with Southampton. It is only right. Then we should sit down with all the clubs we have wronged over recent years and apologise for our actions. Then the club should produce a set of guidelines for all staff to abide by, a proper enforced and enforcable code of conduct for dealings with other clubs. Sorry got a little carried away then! The answer is VVD.}

I would have to agree on all points made above as well as perhaps offer Sakho at a knockdown price to them (Klopp obviously doesn't want to repair this relationship) .
We owe them something, we messed with their player.
We also seemed to have messed him around too in terms of different wages offered I have been told.
We need to make this right with Southampton and with anybody else such as Fulham and Stoke who have an axe to grind against us.
It's not difficult, but pride will have to be tucked away and we'd need to let these clubs tell us what they want us to do to go back to having a clean slate with them.

I agree with you on all of that tbh. We need to fix things with the last person/ club we messed around and work backwards fixing the problems.
As a club we should be viewed as a pleasure to deal with not a horror.
I hope the higher ups are looking at how to rectify our bad reputation on these issues.
(Oh but I would've preferred Koulibaly, Wilson or John Brooks (injuries permitting) over VVD if we hadn't messed him around in the first place)

enforcement of the guideline will be important. maybe a man specific to monitor and ensure that we work within the rules and we also comply to the internal guideline that you mentioned. possibly review the internal guideline periodically to ensure it is inline with any changes made to the rules as well.
this would ensure continuity as like players, managers are also transient employees of the club. things should be carried forward whether there is a change of manager or not.

Given all we have done in this horrible Saga and if we finally manage to get him like we wanted it could easily become a romantic hollywood classic. it would bag oscars and all.
on another note if we sign VVD i don't think he will have a wonder season, i dare say we might have messed the lad up. it would take time for him to put this behind him.
