Ed002- will the free to air matches continue next season or will sky and BT carve up the games between them as before? Also do you know what the PL teams are leaning towards as regards to being able to continue to have 5 subs, a rule that unquestionably favours the bigger sides?
I hope that you and your loved ones are safe and well and i personally thank you for your continued contribution to this site.

{Ed002's Note - The broadcast issue is still being discussed - the cost is huge for the broadcasters and the clubs are having to pay (£330M for this season needs to be paid back) so a balance needs to be found.

There is considerable pressure from a number of sides to end the 5 sub rule when the season ends although it can be continued if the PL agree - the decision is due next Friday and my gut feeling is that it will stay.

And I hope you and yours are keeping safe in the continuing turbulent times.}

Why do clubs have to pay money to the broadcaster when all the games (+more) since the restart are being shown and a lot more people watching them than before?

{Ed002's Note - The broadcasters have made payments to the clubs based on a certain number of games offset against income from subscriptions. There are now more games which means a lot more cost and far fewer subscriptions meaning less income.}

Regarding the 5 subs rule I can see how it benefits the ‘bigger’ teams who have more strength in depth but for me it’s like the drinks break, it just totally disrupts the flow of the game, it’s like watching a pre season friendly, however much I’d love to see more of our youngsters given a run out, the Premier League would be mad to keep this in next season.
