There's an old saying " all good things come to an end " And let's be great full for one thing, it was Burnley and not them lot down the M62 that took our record.

It's been an incredible journey, not beaten at Anfield since April 2017. We have players in the team that have never tasted defeat at home, names that Spring to mind -Salah, Robbo, Shaq - so it must be a tough one for them.

No doubt we have the injury issues and I still think having Hendo and Fabhino in defence considerably un balances and weakens the team. But also, the injury to Jota has been a big blow. He was brought in to freshen up the forward line and to be fair, he did just that - scored important goals, five in five appearances in November and our player of the month twice in succession.

My other thought is the intensity of our play, over the last two seasons, it has been incredible. I think it might just be starting to take it's toll as we look leggy at times and devoid of ideas ( the mental side of the game ) when we can't break teams down.

Goals from midfield - Just not there. Title winning teams are not only built on a solid defence but also goals from midfield, when the teams strikers, front three however you want to put it, goals dry up, and it happens to all teams!

Confidence breeds confidence, goals breed goals. We have the opportunity to get right back into the mix with games against City and Leicester!

I'm just as peed off as everyone and as one poster mentioned, we've been through a lot worse in recent times. Roy Hodgson, gillet and Hicks. We'll get back on track again for that I'm sure.

{Ed025's Note - good post that drogie..

Good post Drogie and as frustrating as last nights and recent performances have been the good times under Klopp far far outweighs the bad times.
For me you hit the nail on the head with the intensity comment.
Yes we miss fab in midfield but we were beat 7-2 with fab in midfield and vvd at the back this season and Hendo has only played twice at centre back.
The frustrating part for me is there seems to be no urgency in our play or attempts to hit teams on the break (when they do push forward corners free kicks etc) we just seem happy to pass the ball around and let the opposition get 10 men behind the ball before we attempt to lump a cross or diagnostic ball into the box.
I know it’s something like 80 attempts and 1 goal in the last 5 but I reckon it must be close to 150 crosses as well and I reckon the opposition defenders and keeper have easily won 95% of them but we seem to keep doing it even though it’s clear it’s not working.
I’ve never seen this set of players look so lacking in confidence or Klopp looking so down which is my biggest worry.
I honestly believe we could be 1 big performance or result away from getting that confidence back and going on a run. The worrying thing is that result could be 1 game or 15 games away with how the lads look. Every one of the last 5 games we’ve said we’ll turn up for this one and win it, the last result was just a blip but the hole we are digging just seems to get bigger and bigger.

Also not using this an an excuse but no way was it a pen last night. he's beaten Allison to the ball but kicked it into the stand, even if he got past him the balls well out of play so even though there’s an argument there’s contact it was impossible for him to score. The exact same thing happened with mane. Salah pulled it back Mane skyed it and then half a second later the defender made contact with mane. Surely that’s the same thing.

It’s a strange season this year. You can bet your life if fans were present we wouldn’t be having a slump like this.
I think we just have to take things that happen this season with a pinch of salt and not get too upset about it. All teams have been very up and down and we are on a down at the moment.
The team that wins it this year will be the one that’s dealt with the conditions best.
We rely on fans. It’s what Klopp’s whole ethos is built around. As was Shankly’s. It’s in our DNA we are part of the team, revered around the world.
It’s probably helped some other teams as the atmosphere from their fans was getting a bit toxic.
Add to that the injuries we’ve had and the generally weird living conditions. We’ve obviously been affected more than some other teams by it.
Either way it’s a very weird season so don’t get too up tight about it. Give the boys time, they will come good.

Bp I think fans might have helped mate but I think it’s an easy excuse to go to. We went 30 years with fans in the stand not winning the title and some years not even competing for it so I wouldn’t be betting my life on that DNA theory. Also last night was our first home defeat and our away form has been even worse. Would 2 thousand away fans have solved that issue as well.
Not saying you’ve said this but it’s the same as some of the other excuses.
Hendo in defence - he’s only played there twice.
Fab in defence - fab is a big miss to the midfield but he’s had a few injuries in the past and even a sticky form patch last season. When he didn’t play then we still won games and scored goals.

For me there’s loads of excuses we could go to but the easiest answer is the players are mentally exhausted and we’re just not playing well enough or creating clear cut chances.
They say possession doesn’t win you football games and we are proving that theory.
