I'd like to know which three clubs were joining the twelve - keeping an extremely low profile I should imagine. Also which five clubs were expecting invitations.

I believe one of the clubs was Tranmere. The ESL wanted to two biggest clubs on Merseyside to be involved. I can also confirm that my Sunday league team was another. We would have made a few quid but we all work so couldn’t fly to Spain or Italy for a weeknight game each week.
