Hopefully Liverpool have a better plan of how to integrate their youngsters into the first team over the next few seasons as there are a few talented players in the u21 squad. Hopefully having the u21s and the first team training at the same centre will help in the transition.

The likes of Gordon, Elliot, Beck, Morton, Clayton, Cain, Balzagi, Clarkson, Musialowski and others could make the grade with the right nurturing.

Would be great to see a handful of them make it around the same time, which would save the club millions.

Obviously we need to be realistic with our expecatations as am sure a lot of you would remember some of the youngsters of the past that we had high hopes for - the likes of Brewster, Suso, Pacheho, Sinclair, Ibe, Eccelston, Spearing, Rossiter, Yesil etc - think only Suso and Brewster have gone on or expected to have a decent career.

The squad for Saturday is likely to have 4 academy graduates in it (Kelleher, Trent, Neco and Curtis) . that's a pretty good indictment of the work being done. Great to see.

Your right Jay, cut that 20 year old lose! Just like a lot of people would have done with Trent the summer they wanted the club to sign Wan Bissaka. We moan when the academy isn't utilised then expect miracles outa youngsters when it is.

i think this is a make or break season for Curtis. Last year was unfortuante as we had an unsettled team due to the injuries meaning poor performances from the whole squad bar Salah and as a result Curtis couldn't show his best.

This year, without injuries hopefully we will need to see him step up - especially if he wants to become a permanent fixture in the first 16 or so players. with Hendo, Thiago in their 30's there will be a permanent place in the starting 11 up for grabs soon - Curtis needs to show he is ready.

I think Jones has a future at the club and can go on to be a good player for us. I’m not sure if he is the 2nd coming of Gerrard like some make out but I think he will get plenty of minutes this season and it’s up to him to force his way into being a first team regular. Last season except the front 3 injuries played a massive part in lots of players getting game time. That could be a factor this year.
