L. Camara linked via a few media outlets for Jan - 55 million euros.
29 Oct 2026 20:44:17
Alexis is not signing, he's posturing.
29 Oct 2026 21:26:09
Posturing for what purpose?
29 Oct 2026 22:46:28
He wants to play in Spain, which is more like home, culturally speaking.
It would also be gentler on his body, which has a lot of miles on the clock.
He said he felt left out that he didn't get a new contract when the others did, but he will have plenty of options when the time comes.
Athleti would be my bet.
30 Oct 2026 00:47:23
I hope at least we get some money for him and he's not gone on a free.
30 Oct 2026 02:44:42
I was told he was unhappy last season and looking for a move to Spain FSW.
He is trying hard right now for a new contract but he was dire last season, and easily replaceable for me, sell for £60-70m and buy Sadiki is something I would love the club to do.
30 Oct 2026 04:16:59
It's a shame he wasn't posturing last year.
It seems that he plays an awful lot better when he's posturing. Perhaps he has adopted the football equivalent of method acting used by Robert De Niro and the like?
30 Oct 2026 05:21:27
The trouble is, WDW, is that even though he himself is playing better than last he was last season, Liverpool aren't that much better in midfield with him in the team. He has good technique in attack and a spectacular goal in him, but he simply isn't a good enough central midfielder overall and that's all there is to it.
He still loses nearly every duel he contests, is out the game once the opponent is goal side, and play acts even when Liverpool are being countered and the ref is ignoring him. The result is that Jacquet and VVD have too much defending to do, and we can't control games like we need to.
30 Oct 2026 07:04:52
I wish Grav and Szob were posturing as Macca is playing way better than those 2 this season.
30 Oct 2026 07:27:51
Dom is a good defensive number 10 or even a right-back in my eyes. Grav has had half a great season and the odd good game since joining the club, while Alexis seems to follow a good season with a poor one.
Andoni has his own ideas about what he wants from his midfield, and I suspect he'll gradually replace all three members of the title-winning midfield.
Personally, I think we looked much more solid with Dom playing as a 10, particularly in Premier League games. However, if Andoni intends to continue playing with a midfield two, I suspect he'll be looking for a different profile of player.
30 Oct 2026 07:28:41
I like the 'switched on' Macca who isn't bad when he's actually trying. I don't think he is the solution going forward but alongside Trey I think 5hey are our best bet as the '2'. I'm not sold on Gravenberch, who seems to me to be unconvincing in the role and I think Dom doesn't really fit. You could argue that Grav and Dom could play in Wirtz's position but he FW is a better player in the attacking role than the other two put together.
Posturing or not Macca is playing well in the role especially when paired with Nyoni, but I'd swap him in a heartbeat for Sadiki from what I've seen.
30 Oct 2026 09:25:45
Would definitely like to see more of Macca and Nyoni in a two to see how their partnership develops.
So far they have played 269 mins together and signs have been promising.
29 Oct 2026 14:51:41
Hi all,
Trent and his team are sounding out, through media intermediaries, the possibility of returning to Liverpool.
This is not an option on our side.
29 Oct 2026 15:05:30
Good he is yesterdays news.
29 Oct 2026 15:12:51
He learnt well from Owen. He just need to sign for Newcastle and the Manc to complete the circle now. You made your bed, lie in it.
29 Oct 2026 15:18:53
Better to let that ship sail. It would cause too much disruption. If he gets his place back, then Araujo has to be moved back to CB. He didn't come to us to be backup RB.
And if Araujo moves to CB then that disrupts that entire Jacquet, Leoni, VVD, Gomez, Ndukwe thing. Too much of a hassle. Maybe some improvement in offense, maybe not, but at what cost?
29 Oct 2026 15:51:19
Trent and his team can sound out anyone they want - only thing that matters is what Andoni and the club want - if they think he will improve the starting 11 and it's at the right price then maybe, who knows.
I imagine he's on silly wages though and can't see us wanting to get anywhere near them, can't see Madrid giving him away for buttons either 🤷♂️
No doubting he was a class player for us for a few years before he started thinking he was Pirlo and convinced the waistcoat he was a midfield starter for England. However If that's what AI thinks the team needs then fair play but I don't see it myself.
29 Oct 2026 15:55:30
He gave his entire youth and adult life to Liverpool. Won everything. Then he wanted a change - as most of us do. Certainly I would have. Wanted to test himself somewhere else, experience something outside the confines of a city where he was worshipped by many.
I understand that for some, him leaving felt like betrayal. But back in the real world. I applauded him. Sure it would have been nice to get £100m for him. But he had given heart and soul for so long. He deserved to go after whatever challenge he could.
For all those that now speak ill of him - are you still working for the very first company you started working for? Or are you still with your very first boy/girlfriend?
We forget in all our adulation of our heroes that they just as human as each of us. And at the same time, these pages are full of attacking a great player the moment he does something not to our liking.
I actually think it's pathetic. Why not say - yes for sure he's a great player but wouldn't suit out system anymore? It's way better than belting out vitriol. Which is so easy sat behind a keyboard.
{Ed025's Note - hard to disagree with that Duffer, good post mate..
29 Oct 2026 16:06:24
I can only agree Duffer.
Would he, like any other player we buy improve our squad..Yes!
That is what we want at the club. The Club is bigger than all of us. YNWA.
29 Oct 2026 16:10:12
It's not that he left, Duffer, that angers a lot of people. It's how he left.
If he was up front and honest about his intentions to leave as soon as he knew it was a foregone conclusion then I think fans would've been far more accepting of it. It's not like he was some martyr putting body and soul on the line for the club for nothing. Like other players, he was rewarded handsomely with a lovely wage slip during his time here. On his way out the door, he leveraged the fans love for him through the media to get himself in a comfy position in Madrid.
29 Oct 2026 16:14:25
Duffer you have no idea why he moved, same as the rest of us - unless you know him personally off course?
I agree with your statement regarding being at the club since he was a kid etc, but I guarantee you if he'd started out in Tranmere's academy instead of ours he'd have been out of their sharpish - Trent did very well out of being at Liverpool under Klopp and Liverpool done well by having him as a player - but you paint it like he sacrificed something by being at the club.
I have zero idea why he moved, or any interest - as you say he can make his own decisions like the rest of us can. I'm not having we should all think he's worthy of eternal adulation though, for me he turned into a living version of his ego and stopped being the humble kid that got him where he is - hopefully this experience might bring some of that humbleness back (I doubt it personally tho)
29 Oct 2026 16:16:15
i always thought that he could have been a half decent winger, but for
mane and salah obviously being much better.
i totally agree with you about the haters on here, just look at the crap young bradley gets, a fine rb, unfortunately got a massive injury, now everyone hates the lad and calls him injury prone and not good enough.
to be honest its a bit shameful the way people talk about our players.
29 Oct 2026 16:24:29
What Victor said - fully agree pal.
I think his mind was made up when Slot subbed him off early in the season when he was practically popping up on the left wing.
He was a great world class full back, bang average inverted one, and championship level midfielder.
Slot wanted a full back, Trent wanted a free role - I called him leaving during the game, and I wasn't gutted, I'm not saying he was a bad fullback far from it, but if the manager wants you to do a job you don't want to do - you become Manchester United and nobody wants to see that, not even United fans haha.
29 Oct 2026 16:49:41
Difficult situation because it feels like this is cutting your nose off to spite your face in many ways. A player who is probably much better than any of our current full backs overall (possibly harsh on Araujo who hasn't put a foot wrong), despite the fanfare regarding his defensive capabilities more than competent enough and better then probably 99% of available options. That said the way he left, his effort level particularly in that United game at Anfield and age got to be factored in.
Real shame it ever came to this as his 'dream' Madrid move has probably stopped him becoming the full time captain of his boyhood club and treated as a legend which his time at the club he should be having won the lot.
29 Oct 2026 16:56:16
Just got wind of similar information surprisingly.
Diddly out.
29 Oct 2026 17:10:31
TAA would cause the same dressing room disruption as Rashford returning to man utd, Andoni would not have him, even if TAA paid his own transfer fee, that would entail LFC literally crawling back for him on their hands and knees, this club is too big for crawling back for any player past and present.
He made his bed, let him "LIE" on it.
YNWA Andoni.
29 Oct 2026 17:11:01
@Alex - just my opinion pal
Trent is without doubt one of the best passers of a ball I've seen, that includes set pieces, corners etc.
If that's what you want from a full back then he's world class, my view is what does the manager want though - Southgate didn't fancy him, Tuchel doesn't, Jose doesn't etc 🤷♂️ for me that's only one of 2 things: his ability to do what they want and need, or his attitude and willingness to do it?
For me Trent is deadly when he has time and space on the ball as his right foot is like the Elder Wand - put him under pressure, close him down, put one over the top and turn him etc then the thing that makes him great is nullified and he's just a defender and that's where he stops being world class.
I loved Trent still do but that doesn't get away from what any team needs or manager wants from their fullback. If a team sets up to give their full back time and space to hurt the opposition and wants a set piece master then Trent's your boy - if you want a pure defender who can get up and down and will be disciplined there's better options imo.
29 Oct 2026 17:14:32
I don't really care how he left, I just don't think he's good enough anymore to improve the first team and I don't think he would work as a right back or a midfielder in the 4231 that we're playing now.
29 Oct 2026 17:15:54
I agree with Horse that the crucial opinion is the managers. I don't think he will fit the managers plans but I'm happy with whatever Iraola thinks.
Rushie was the exception but by and large you should never go back. It never really works out. Even someone as good as Ronaldo couldn't make a success of coming back.
For that reason alone I'm against the idea but happy to go with the managers choice.
29 Oct 2026 17:19:17
Trent's mind was made up to leave when he started to learn Spanish.
29 Oct 2026 17:25:46
Crazy Horse, I do agree with regards to only ever Klopp has 100% been on board with him and there has always been rumours on his attitude but you'd like to think he'd come back with a point to prove and goes back to does he improve on Bradley, Frimpong etc that's 100% a yes.
As touched on by others, it rarely works out well when players go back so probably best to steer clear.
29 Oct 2026 17:31:28
Won't happen. And I don't think it should.
29 Oct 2026 17:51:11
I am going to give my two penneth here.
I thank Trent for helping us to win all of those trophies.
I have no issue with him leaving or the way he left.
I don't really want him back but if he came back I would cheer him on.
29 Oct 2026 18:04:47
He would get games as a rotation player, who wouldn't want that passing range Vs certain set ups?
City, Chelsea or Arsenal would be my guess though.
29 Oct 2026 18:25:51
Aruajo is our RB and CB, and he is really good but also his leaderrship qualities of being a captain are seen in games.
Jacquet is a future captain, which you can see by example,
Trent coming back doesn't improve the squad it will just move us back 2 years.
29 Oct 2026 19:15:11
I Wonder if he's learning Scouse?
29 Oct 2026 19:37:52
He ran his contract down to earn the massive contract and to appease Madrid. Doing that as a scouser is why so many are angry, disappointed and even disgusted.
29 Oct 2026 19:40:41
Who cares what he wants? He didn't care that the fans wanted him to stay. Zero Fuchs given on his behalf back then, let him go to spurs bright lights big city play in white but probably better off in Germany. So it's a big fat no from me.
29 Oct 2026 19:48:14
@Alex - agree prime Trent probably improves us over Bradley & Frimpong even if it's just him generally not being injured as much as they seem to be.
My question is: let's say the club decide they want a new right back, would they just limit themselves to looking at Trent - for the transfer fee and wages are there better options - in the same way you're thinking is Trent still better than we've got, do you think he's better than any alternatives we could go after?
29 Oct 2026 19:49:36
Depends on the package, fee, wages etc
Free up to 10 million no problem.
Wages he was on before he left, no problem.
Big apology - a must.
Let us not pretend he does not have a skill set we could easily utilise.
29 Oct 2026 20:59:10
The alternatives out there is what brings me back to probably favouring Trent coming back. Palestra was one mentioned in pre season and being at the game last night he offered nothing when he came on and played left back, Gusto was rumoured in the summer and again he was terrible last night. Read from Feyenoord obviously is talented but coming off a big knee injury in a much weaker league, Kayode at Brentford in a back 3/5 so how much does that cover his weaknesses as it did with Frimpong.
I suspect there are plenty of options out there that I haven't realised as potential options, my few year sabbatical from football manager has really begun to show!
29 Oct 2026 21:07:02
Would love to have him back.
29 Oct 2026 21:23:51
Evening.
Two questions on this, rather than forcing my view down everyone's throat.
1. Are we a better team since he left?
2. Would he make us a better team?
I think we all know the answers. Football is a simple game.
29 Oct 2026 21:31:40
@Shughes, yesterday's news you say? Why are we talking about him today and, no doubt tomorrow?
29 Oct 2026 22:52:46
He ain't winning the ballon do'r as the third choice Liverpool right back.
29 Oct 2026 23:01:49
Completely agree with Duffer. Nobody knows when he decided to leave, when did he tell the club, what said during negotiations, what promises were made or not etc etc unless anyone knows Trent personally or one of the staff negotiating. I would have him back, why, because he gave us something that we now miss. However if the manager says No that's it.
29 Oct 2026 23:33:03
For those old enough to remember, macmanaman was castigated for announcing he was going at the start of his last season.
Like I said previously you're damned if you do or don't. Just because players are local doesn't mean they have to shackle themselves to the club ad infinitum. It's a relatively short career so let's have some perspective please and leave the lad alone.
29 Oct 2026 23:35:09
Top of the range virtue signalling there Duffer.
Arnold Rat can do one. He could have stayed and been a club legend, but he clearly decided going to Madrid means more. He's injury prone and absolutely rinsed. Don't want that cretin or his equally cretinous brothers anywhere near the club.
He's 29 next October, he's not going to get better or improve his defensive performances and his fitness is just going to get worse as well. He can join Tranmere or Everton for all I care, though I'd expect even they have standards.
30 Oct 2026 04:20:59
Can't wait for the next exciting daily episode of 'Trent, love him or hate him', coming to your choice of social media tomorrow.
30 Oct 2026 04:26:43
For the right money (fee and contract), the right motivation on his end then I would pursue him for sure.
In the high likelihood that he doesn't return then I hope he is just left be. doesn't sound like he's wanted by a bunch of fans anyways.
30 Oct 2026 05:23:33
I will be over the moon to see Trent sign a contract for any other club except Liverpool.
30 Oct 2026 08:24:05
Some good responses on both sides there.
But the jilted ones stick out like a sore thumb.
30 Oct 2026 08:38:19
Depends on his wages, what the manager wants from his RB - and the his attitude / willingness to do what the manager wants.
If all those things align, have to say Trent is a better option than either Frimpong or Bradley.
Also depends on whether the club have deals lined up for younger RB's (like Kayode or Banjaqui). But there's not that many good RB's around atm.
30 Oct 2026 09:00:32
Trent was fantastic for us and noone can dispute that but that was under Klopp, we have moved on and i don't think he fits in the team anymore. but if AI wants him then we will just get behind the team and manager as always.
30 Oct 2026 09:23:14
I'm in the "moving on" camp. An excellent ex-Liverpool player who left for pastures new.
I don't particularly bear any grudges, just a firm believer in "Never go back".
All things must pass. He moved on, so must we.
30 Oct 2026 10:29:23
I'm all for him coming back, especially if he improves us.
What I didn't like about how he left was his brother getting involved (similar to what Mainoo's brother was doing to get him back in the team)
The main thing though from what VG has said is that we're not interested by all accounts. I think it's probably good that Iraola wants willing runners and is maybe looking at alternative options which would be more viable?
Be interesting to see how this plays out!
Cheers for info VG.
29 Oct 2026 10:01:18
Great result. Good performance.
Nyoni looks ready now. Very good performance and looks a mini gravenberch when breaking the lines.
I hope the club signs a top DM in. January and a LB. I've no problem with Araujo and Bradley as the RB options.
I think the LB options are extremely weak for a massive football club. Kerkez is sub standard. I'd want a top LB to go straight into the first team.
29 Oct 2026 10:28:16
Agree on that, if we can sign a player who can be disciplined enough to sit in front of the defence would free up Wirtz or whoever plays 10 to roam more.
LB - agree I'd hoped that Andoni might have been able to coax the Bournemouth Kerkez back but it ain't happening - would be costly but Lewis Hall would be my pick there.
29 Oct 2026 12:09:05
Trey is everything Grav is not. Really impressed with him so far and can see why they trust the young lad.
As for transfers, at this moment in time I would be looking to secure Lamine Camara and Daniel Banjaqui in January, with Banjaqui being loaned back to Benfica for the remainder of the season ala Jacquet, avoiding an auction in the summer.
With Tsimikas out of contract, the LB is an obvious one. Sounds like Joaquin Seys is the frontrunner. Gomez will probably not be renewed, with Big Ron being signed. The rest for the summer depends on what our plans for Marmadashvilli, Gravenberch, Gakpo, MacAllister, Virg and Alisson will be.
29 Oct 2026 13:29:08
Agree with most said on this thread.
FPF, Banjaqui looks great, but I'm not sure I would prioritise him this year (Jan or summer) UNLESS Bradley's injury is potentially career ending (and I hope to go it's not for us and him personally).
LB, i agree we need someone. I used to think Tsimi would be fine as a backup for a couple of years or so, but seeing his performances so far this season, I was guilty of rose-tinted specs when he wasn't here last season. He's not the right level to be a starting LB for us (if Kerkez was injured) and whilst I understand Robbo's decision, I would have preferred to keep him for 1-2 more years as Kerkez could learn so much from him.
Camara would be my pick for Jan, and possibly a LB.
My gut feel, based on the fact that IKFA and a sprinkling of optimistic hope, is that we would extend Virg for 1 year, Ali for 1-2 years, Gakpo I would probably let go, ideally not to a competitor (unless we could do some pseudo swap deal for Semenyo or Minteh), so ideally overseas. I know Bayern had some tentative interest in him in the summer, that would suit and possibly brings Olise into the equation too.
If Alisson signs, I would sell Mamar, and have a group of GKs with Ali as the daddy, with Jaros and/or Pecsi and Luca being groomed as the likely LT successor.
Finally on the Grav/Macca question, based on current performances I would keep Macca and, certainly if AI wants to persist with a double pivot, sell Grav. A few moving parts here - Nyoni's progress and a recruitment of someone like Camara may mean we may decide to cash in on both. And there's obviously a contract to be negotiated with Macca.
29 Oct 2026 13:50:11
In an ideal world, Macca, Ali, Virg stay. find it a genuine shame Gomez's injuries, I think he's quality.
29 Oct 2026 14:33:47
if Kerkez got an ounce of support from Gakpo the left flank would look a lot better.
29 Oct 2026 14:52:43
Zedd, agree with most, but disagree on Conor Bradley. He's not good enough, never mind available enough. Banjaqui would be the replacement for Frimpong anyway and would challenge and probably take Bradley's place fairly quickly, he's that good.
I fear Alisson has set his heart on moving to Italy. Would love to keep him around for another year or two though as help young Brughmans settle in.
29 Oct 2026 15:00:52
Kerkez makes me nervous. Dunno why he just looks a bit frantic and error prone. I like Tsimikas but I don't think he is good enough to start inportant games.
Gravenberch is a head scratcher. He looks great sometimes but other times he is complete dross. He doesn't seem to have any discipline or want to cover defensively. He isn't a great tackler, as in he picks up cards often. I just think we could do better. Nyoni is better.
With Gakpo also, I just don't get him either.
He plays for himself. He is just as greedy if not more greedy than what Salah was. This frustrates me. He took his penalty well, and what about Gomez? Flipping buried that penalty. Shame his body can't cope with the demands of the league. He'd do well in Italy I am guessing.
Araujo is great. Hope we keep him and he keeps up that level of performance. I think it is lifting the rest of the teams performances.
29 Oct 2026 15:16:40
FPF
I would have no hesitation to sell Gakpo, Gravenberch, and release VVD and Gomez.
VVD is a legend bug definitely 2-3 levels below where he used to be.
Joe is a fantastic player on his day, but can't sustain it, and his injuries have plagued his career.
Gravenberch doesn't suit Iraola and needs selling.
Gakpo will move on, I hear he actually wanted it in the summer, it will happen.
MacAllister is a tricky one, I see him as a great squad player, no more, snc he thinks he is better than that.
I'm living the dream still that we will buy Camara and Sadiki both of whom deeply strengthen our team/squad.
Seys seems to be the flavour at LB can see that happening at some point but more likely next summer.
RB needs sorting as Big Ron will move to the centre and Bradley cannot be relied upon.
Loving the idea of Kayode joining but I see us moving for a RB in Jan.
29 Oct 2026 16:21:17
Shughes55 genuine question. Is the reason for getting rid of Gomez his injuries because you say he's a fantastic player on his day yet the reasons to get rid of Virg is his level of play? Because it sounds like you would gladly keep Joe if he didn't get the injuries yet advocate getting rid of Virg because of his levels of play.
That just seems mental to me.
29 Oct 2026 16:32:34
FPF, all about opinions mate. I think Conor can get to the level of being our no 1. Different to the way Trent played (and referring to the thread above this one, I do agree that the main reason for not wanting Trent back is that he doesn't fit our style of play, leaving the bitterness to one side), and a lot more direct, but that may suit AI.
However, equally, I may just be looking back through rose tinted specs at Bradley's performances (as I admitted to doing with Tsimi) as his injuries have meant that he never really got long enough, in a settled team with a settled manager, to make the position his own.
I really, really could see a future for Araujo at RB, though. Not sure it's what he or the management want, and he is a different style of RB again, much more defensive, understandably, but I posted a few weeks back that whereas under Klopp, Trent was the one who got forward more than Robbo (albeit Robbo also did his fair share when we had Fabs to step back) we could switch to the LB being more offensive and Ronnie being there with the 2 CBs to shore up our back line in case of fast breaks.
Will be interesting to see what transpires when AI gets his first 'proper' window in Jan (as I think he didn't want to make too many wholesale changes before he got a chance to assess the squad).
30 Oct 2026 02:52:37
Florian,
I have clearly explained why I would choose to let the players leave or be sold, are you bored and felt you had to write something?
29 Oct 2026 06:52:49
How on earth are we going to shift grav on with the wages he’s on? he offers nothing apart from the odd konate like mess up.
29 Oct 2026 07:05:32
He's in a bad spell at the moment, the sending off against city has just spiralled him a little bit even though he was playing great in that game, he needs to come out of the team for a couple games and just come on for 10 minutes to get back to simple stuff just because a player is in bad form doesn't mean you have to sell them.
29 Oct 2026 07:15:17
Nice show of support to our players.
29 Oct 2026 07:20:10
You don't need to sell players just because they're out of form.
{Ed025's Note - even if they have been out of form for 18 months?..
29 Oct 2026 07:31:21
He looked superb in the City match until the softest yellows of all time.
{Ed025's Note - one swallow does not make a summer KJH..
29 Oct 2026 07:33:30
I feel amazed when we call ourselves the best fans in the world. There is absolutely nothing special about us. We are as ordinary and fickle as anyone else.
29 Oct 2026 07:44:07
We have millions of fans worldwide. You'll always get some who say silly things.
One Chelsea fan was on the radio last night saying sack Alonso!
Nothing to see here, move along.
29 Oct 2026 07:45:43
There was a few people on here saying that we should get rid of VVD because he made a mistake in a match. To be fair though - the few calling him out have never made a mistake.
29 Oct 2026 07:54:35
I don't think there's anything wrong calling out poor performances as Gravenberch wasn't great last night but we also all now how good he can be. Either he'll click and get it right and start putting in more performances like the one against City or he needs some time on the sidelines.
I was more concerned with how and why Gakpo stayed on the pitch for the whole game. Penalties apart I thought he was shocking. Before his injury he'd been looking great but since then he's looked more like what he was last season. I'd happily give him more time but again, like Gravenberch, he probably needs taking out of the side for a bit imo.
Other than those two I thought everyone done great last night, especially the young lads who came in.
I had a feeling Tsimikas would want to take what he thought would be the winning penalty again and I also had feeling he'd miss but hey ho fortune favoured us and we got through.
Let's hope we really go at Arsenal at the weekend like Brighton did and hopefully we can get a result. (I'd start Nyoni and Rio over Grav and Gakpo otherwise same lineup as last weekend)
29 Oct 2026 08:07:39
Out of form, good one.
First season Klopp didn't fancy him at all, second season ok slot got a tune out of him. Third season rubbish but I guess they all were, now fourth season and he's started really bad came out the team. Played well for the odd half an hour but he's a liability.
At the end of the day, we won't be having Mac, sob, grav and other on big wages so someone got to go and it better not be Mac and keep Grav.
29 Oct 2026 08:35:00
Grav just needs someone to discipline him and tell him to focus on playing solely as a 6 rather than box to box mid. Receive under pressure, beat the man and release the ball. Rinse and repeat - teaching him how to follow a runner would be useful too.
29 Oct 2026 08:49:50
Guess all the managers he's had must be missing that info brummyred.
29 Oct 2026 09:11:29
Why is it wrong to call out someone if they're not performing?
If I make a mistake in my place of work I get called out & I'm not on £250k per week.
29 Oct 2026 09:13:43
I'm not saying we should get shot of him
Like some on here by the way.
29 Oct 2026 09:21:57
Why is everyone so obsessed with Gravenberch's wages?
Sounds like jealousy to me.
I don't know or care what his wages are but as long as he plays for Liverpool I'll support him.
I think he'll prove the doubters very wrong.
29 Oct 2026 09:58:01
How about we wait till the end of the season before making rash decisions?
Remember that bringing in new players isn't always an instant fix. They too may need time to develop at the club.
7 months of the season left, Andoni is improving a lot of players, so we may as well wait till the end and take stock rather than making wholesale changes in Jan.
29 Oct 2026 10:14:42
Nobody is complaining about calling his performance out he was terrible yesterday yes, majority are saying you don't need to hyper fixate on his wage and say get rid every time someone has a bad spell. jesus you'd think we'd lost 10 games in a row.
29 Oct 2026 11:02:24
Rio, it's pretty normal to be jealous of someone on £280k a week. No one deserves to be on that for kicking a ball around but the least you can expect is for them to not be consistently poor. I don't feel harsh saying this as he has barely put effort into many of the games this season, strolling around.
You should care what our players are on because Edwards bloated our wage bill in his first stint which financially hamstrung us in the transfer market. We were just recovering from this mismanagement when he and Hughes did it again.
Gravenberch and Gakpo are on over half a million a week between them. A couple of seasons ago, those were Salah and Virgil figures as our premium earners following years of consistent world-class performances. We simply can't afford to have players on those numbers playing like that. What is the knock-on effect going to be on the expectation of other players?
You can talk about the semantics of through rain and shine all you want but the reality of football is getting rid of the players who aren't good enough and bringing in players who are good enough for appropriate sums of money. Always has been, always will be. This is a transfer rumours site. People are going to talk about who they think we should buy and who they think we should sell. If you want a just positive vibes environment, maybe try the comments section on the club's official YouTube channel.
29 Oct 2026 11:05:02
Won the league that man.
29 Oct 2026 11:33:12
Grav has had half of a great in season in the 3 years he's been with us. He could be the next Viera, although he doesn't like getting stuck in, which seems to be important in this league.
His game may be best suited to Spain.
29 Oct 2026 12:15:37
The biggest issue is his mentality. He's a soft lad. His physical traits are incredible and ideally suited to the PL, but his mentality doesn't match them.
I don't believe the wages he is being reported to be on are true. However, he will still be a high earner, which will make him difficult to move on.
Barcelona, with the Dutch affinity, or a club in Turkey seems the most likely destination if he is to be moved.
29 Oct 2026 12:21:04
I think Iraola needs to recognise that Gravs' best performances came from him playing as a 6, and that in order to get the best out of him and the partnership with Dom in particular, that he needs to drop this double pivot stuff, at least until we get a handle on the midfield. Grav and Dom simply do not have the awareness to be given the amount of freedom offered by the double pivot; there's too much responsibility that go's along with it, and they just don't have the discipline for it, not right now anyway. Dom can be weak in the tackle and poor tracking back so relying on him to do the duties of a 6 whilst expecting him to be aware enough to take on those responsabilities whenever Grav does decide to go galavanting just doesn't work. Then Grav, whilst he can be excellent at breaking lines, he has no issue bounding forward even when Dom (or Mac) and Wirtz are already high up the pitch, especially when the situation doesn't call for it, leaving us incredibly exposed.
I think Grav shouldn't be allowed beyond the centre circle for a few weeks, ground him a little, after some time on the bench. He was benched a few times prior to the City game and he was excellent in that match before being sent off. I think the immediate solution is for Iraola to drop the double pivot, delegate more specific roles, restrict some freedoms and employ a little classic man management. It could rapidly return our midfield to the form that saw us win the league. I still think we need a DM but for now we need an alternative solution.
29 Oct 2026 12:24:47
Who knows, Grav might play himself back into form or he may not. It's fine to criticize performances but to ask for players to be shipped out while the season is ongoing doesn't serve anyone at Liverpool. YNWA doesn't mean you can't criticize performances or can't ever agree with player sales. But imo our fans should treat each player as 100% part of LFC while the season is ongoing.
What happens in January or in the summer, happens in January or in the summer. Until then, they are Liverpool players and can all make a difference to our chances of success this season. Criticize their performances, but don't make them feel like they're not - or should not be - part of the squad anymore. I might rate the chances of Chiesa contributing anything significant on the pitch for the rest of the season as really low. But even then, he might still score a crucial goal. Or even if he doesn't get a single more minute on the pitch, he hopefully contributes to team morale by keeping his spirits high in the dressing room despite not playing.
Do people really forget so fast. It was only a couple of months ago Macca was completely written off. Now he's our most important midfielder, scoring vital goals. To an extent this goes for Gakpo, too.
Don't kid yourselves, most players do follow Social Media one way or another. And all the players should be encouraged to feel part of this special club for as long as they are under contract here. Unless of course, they were to do unforgiving stuff off the pitch. Then, if things don't work out and one or both sides decide it's time to part ways - you shake hands and wish each other the best and can say goodbye with an honest YNWA.
29 Oct 2026 13:01:16
When we sign a couple of MF's I can see Dom fighting it out with Florian for the No.10 position Chewy.
29 Oct 2026 13:18:30
I wouldn't drop the double pivot, of just bring in the type of players that suit the way Iraola wants to play.
If that means Gravy, Szob and Macca need to be moved on, or anyone for that matter, so be it.
29 Oct 2026 13:56:06
I'm giving all the players 30 games at least with this manager, it's too early to write anyone off 👍.
29 Oct 2026 14:55:09
You literally can't play 433 in the Premier League now without a beast of a 6 (rare) and fullbacks that are technical enough to invert.
The double pivot midfields are here to stay for now.
29 Oct 2026 15:00:03
Ed's I'd love your thoughts on what seems to be for him - he was decent a few seasons ago but seems to have got to his head.
{Ed025's Note - he had a great season when you won it TSR, but since then he has regressed and for me does not deserve a place in the team mate..
28 Oct 2026 12:35:37
Do we know what's holding up Rio's contract?
28 Oct 2026 13:12:22
Not sure, but his current runs out in 2028 so we do have time. Would be great if it's done before the season finishes.
28 Oct 2026 12:57:16
Do we even know that it is being held up?
28 Oct 2026 15:44:30
There is no hold up its just negotiations, it will happen.
28 Oct 2026 16:36:25
We went through this with Trent and Konate recently lol. They were meant to be nailed on along the way 😊.
28 Oct 2026 16:42:04
Wokka, we also had it with VVD and Salah not so long ago and they both signed.
It's almost like every contract negotiation is unique. eh?
28 Oct 2026 17:58:38
Trent and Konate were over 23 so this is different.
28 Oct 2026 18:22:52
Zed. I couldn't agree more. My point is nothing is nailed on. Let's hope he signs but he may not. Nobody knows for certain he will.
28 Oct 2026 18:23:31
Fully expecting him to sign a new deal with us.
Diddly out.
28 Oct 2026 20:36:52
I feel better that Ned has said it'll be alright!
29 Oct 2026 05:04:55
We've been trying to order a new printer but they've not been getting delivered. The lads were on live chat to Amazon customer services for ages and we ended up just having to ring Jeff straight. Turns out Richard Hughes mixed up the correspondence address while was working both jobs over the summer. Explains why the DPD bloke turned up all confused the other day looking for a Mr O Watkins
Nightmare but it's been sorted now, thankfully.
29 Oct 2026 07:47:38
@OP, what date and time were you expecting that the contract would have been signed?
27 Oct 2026 21:51:20
Obviously I'm a self-proclaimed member of the Ronald Araujo fan club, and I'm hoping the Club doesn't dillydally on making him permanent. I just read what Nyoni said about him today; how his example is driving the team forward even though he can't even speak English. That's the galvanizing spirit and the effect of a leader right there. I saw Nyoni charge into a tackle as his first contribution when he came on last game and nearly injured himself given his slender frame.
But after reading what he just said about Araujo, maybe he's been bitten by the big too. He probably was pumped up seeing Araujo destroy everything on his paths, and Nyoni couldn't wait to get on the pitch and have a taste of the action!
That's the Araujo effect, and long may it continue!
27 Oct 2026 22:12:22
I don't get the call to make his deal permanent asap, he could do his ACL in a month. You can still make it permanent in February or March if he's still playing well.
27 Oct 2026 22:24:14
I don't know how all this works, but the loan is for the season, so would we not just go and sign him in the summer? I am preparing myself for the club to do the opposite of what the fans want and not sign him because he is 28, then buy someone that has potential.
One thing for certain is, he is our best right back, when everyone is fit and well. Bradley bar the tackle on Mbappe, has not done anything, and he is permanently injured, and Frimpong is, well Frimpong is Frimpong. He's not a right back.
27 Oct 2026 22:37:25
other strings to his bow, he has actually played more games for barcelona at centre half his proper position, was he bought to replace VVD at the end of this season? and was a captain of barcelona, a captain proves he's no duffer also, he not only can replace bradley connor, frimpong, but also joe gomez who is out of contract and goes for nowt next year on the 30/06/2027 as a free transfer.
YNWA Andoni.
27 Oct 2026 22:51:06
There are so many unknowns at the moment, for me it makes sense to wait.
Don't get me wrong, I love Araujo as much as the next fan, but a lot can change.
Forgetting injuries, we have a lot of other moving parts - will VVD extend his contract, what will VVD want, what will Araujo want, will Leoni come back fully fit and firing, what about Connor Bradley.
I think Iraola likes Araujo too so I think the chances are high but I'd wait until we know more. There's no rush.
28 Oct 2026 00:07:44
I would hazard a guess that he was brought in because AI wanted him and because our options were severely limited at the time Ndukwe, the standout CB, on the pre-season tour had been told he needed to qualify to get a work permit, Jacquet, Leoni and Joe having picked up a knock in the first pre-season game in America, were injured and VVD was on hold after the World Cup. Also Bradley was / is injured and Frimpong wasn't ready to play.
I'd be extremely surprised if his attitude and approach were to change over the course of 8 or 9 months - at 27 he is a nature adult and how he manages his life probably won't change radically. So the only real issues are
1. Come next May / June does he want to stay
2. Do the club think he has something that the club, squad, team need in terms of playing ability, attitude, influence on and off the pitch
Personally, I think he is the real deal - love his attitude and commitment and he has the right skills for the job at hand. I'd sign him up now, but that's just me being a fan and I'm sure AI and Wardy (trying that out as a nickname but I'm not sure) will take time to make a decision. Really, there's no rush.
28 Oct 2026 00:26:22
If he continues as he's started it's a no brainer for me, regardless of whether VVD stays or goes. Ndukwe will need time to develop and we have no idea how Leoni will be when he's back fully fit, which might still take some time.
Hell everyone raves about Leoni being great for one half against a championship team, when the reality is none of us have any idea how good he is, could be or even how suited he is to the rigours of the Premier League week in, week out.
28 Oct 2026 06:49:18
We need a cb in that mid-late 20s who has experience regardless if vvd stays r not. Next season gomez will be gone, aside from vvd all our cb options will be 22 r under. U can't go into a season will all your cbs so young, definitely a position that needs experience.
28 Oct 2026 09:45:17
Every chance we sign him up, but let's wait until the summer. A lot can happen. AI and the club could fancy a Zabarnyi or some other younger defender.
28 Oct 2026 10:27:31
Don't understand all this talk of should we or shouldn't we sign Ron, he's done everything we want of him and he's got 7 years on vvd, what's to think about, the guy puts everything into each game and hasn't let us down once.
Of course we'll try and sign him, hopefully he'll want to stay too.
28 Oct 2026 11:29:42
He has, but 7 years on Virg is like two or three on a normal defender. The likes of Rio and Terry were done by Virgil's age. No point measuring him against Van Dijk. if he keeps going as he is, doesn't get injured and actually WANTS to sign I'm sure the club will get it done.
28 Oct 2026 12:18:34
The loan includes an option to buy so the deal is already done. Why take the option before the end of the loan?
28 Oct 2026 18:15:02
Interestingly, the messaging from the laptop boys at the time of his signing, which was down to Andoni, was that he wasn't seen as a long-term option.
According to plenty of Barca fans, he lacks the finesse required for their current set-up and certainly seems more suited to the Premier League.
I hope his move is made permanent, although I can see Atlético and Bayern being interested too, so he'll have options.
Hopefully, the love he's getting from the fans will win him over. We need that energy in the team.
{Ed666's Note - I love Ronnie as the next guy but am I the only one that thinks we should see him play in his natural position before we spunk north of 45 million pounds on him?
28 Oct 2026 23:45:12
Not too shabby as a CB tonight. BTW what was that gangly Chelsea boy doing to VVD and how'd he get away with it.
29 Oct 2026 05:06:35
At the end of the day we're a business and we know Barca are desperate financially. That deal to sign him permanently isn't going anywhere but we might just try to get him cheaper.
27 Oct 2026 20:29:34
Trent aa. Why doesn't Jose fancy him? Where does he go next? Will he get back to the passing/attacking levels we witnessed at Liverpool?
27 Oct 2026 20:50:53
I doubt it.
27 Oct 2026 20:51:00
City, Chelsea.
27 Oct 2026 21:08:10
I think we need a couple of energetic, aggressive type players into team and trents not that. Maybe if our midfield was different he may work for us but at present I don't think he what we need. When u see araujo determination to keep a clean sheet that's what I want to see.
27 Oct 2026 21:36:31
Because Mourinho is pragmatic and doesn't like to take risks. Trent's passing/crossing is often compared to the likes of KDB and Beckham but in reality it's more Bruno Fernandes. When it comes off they're great, but plenty don't and just result in turnovers.
Couple that with the poor positional play and defensive mistakes and there is a reason managers don't pick him unless they have a team built around accommodating him.
27 Oct 2026 21:51:52
It's true, neither Beckham nor Kev De B ever misplaced a pass.
27 Oct 2026 22:13:15
For a fanbase that is over him leaving we sure do like talking about him.
27 Oct 2026 22:18:48
Beckham couldn't lave KDB's boots.
27 Oct 2026 22:27:10
Mourinho employs a defend first philosophy, for the most part, he likes defenders who can actually defend. Trent makes rookie defensive errors; gets caught ball-watching, doesn't track his man, has lapses in positional awareness.
What Trent didn't realise when he left to win the Ballon dor, was that Klopp had built a system to compensate for Trents weaknesses so that we could better exploit his talents, and that he was never going to be afforded that privilege anywhere else.
Not to mention he's also put on weight and doesn't look as quick or fit as he used to be.
I can see him moving to Italy to try and save face, or Chelsea if Alonso is keen. I don't see him coming back to Anfield, we no longer use the system that once flattered him, he will continue to struggle defensively, and we're currently looking for a RB who defends first. If we brought Trent in tomorrow, he wouldn't start over Araujo.
27 Oct 2026 22:29:57
Why doesn't Jose fancy him?
Easy, he's absolutely rinsed, he's injury prone, he's lazy, he's a liability defensively.
Where does he go next?
Who cares as long as we don't waste money on him. Let him be someone else's expensive mistake. His career at the top is as good as over.
Will he get back to the passing/attacking levels we witnessed at Liverpool?
DFKDFC.
28 Oct 2026 00:11:33
Spot on @MarkP. Beckham's left foot was just there for standing on. He was slow as a crab and couldn't tackle or head a ball to save his life. From a football perspective he was, imho, vastly overrated.
28 Oct 2026 00:48:06
I hate the topic of "Should Liverpool bring TAA? "
If he wasn't Scouse and hadn't played for us before, everyone would realise that the answer is an obvious "no way in hell" and not even waste their breath on such a silly question.
He doesn't fit our transfer profile at all.
28 Oct 2026 01:05:51
I reckon Beckham would basically have had the career of James Ward Prowse in today's game. Or had to have been an entirely different type of player because there's no right footed right wingers who can't beat a man these days.
28 Oct 2026 06:19:04
Beckham only played right wing at Man United cause he didn't fit in a 2 man midfield. When he moved to Real, he moved into a Pirlo type role and his game became significantly more well-rounded.
28 Oct 2026 08:22:09
The saying that Klopp said to Coutinho about staying and they will build a statue of you leave and you will be just another player rings as much to Trent as it did to Coutinho. grass is very rarely greener.
28 Oct 2026 08:25:57
My mate was a season ticket holder at Man United and said Beckham would only hit a Hollywood pass maybe a few times a game and that's what you would see on match of the day, he didn't rate him that highly.
28 Oct 2026 10:30:33
Vv and bunny rabbit, you got it spot on lads, let's all stop talking about this turn coat and move on to something else worth talking about.
28 Oct 2026 11:52:03
What Chewy said.
28 Oct 2026 11:56:32
I meant his other brother Marcel I think his name is.
28 Oct 2026 11:52:46
Well i think the only way it makes sense him coming back here is if he pays his own transfer fee, I'm sure that will make him, his nasty piece of work sister and his brother humble, that would be such sweet karma.
27 Oct 2026 08:15:21
Hi Ed's and reds, are we still looking at minteh in January?
Thanks.
{Ed001's Note - yes.}
27 Oct 2026 08:58:29
Can only imagine that must be with a view to still selling Gakpo then? Surely we don't need 5 wingers.
{Ed001's Note - Rio still has not signed a new deal though.}
27 Oct 2026 08:54:14
Not arguing Ed001 but does anyone think this purchase might not be what we need given we have Munoz, Ngumoha, Barcola and Gakpo Unless Gakpo is to be sold which feels odd given we didn't do that when we had the chance last summer.
Rather spend the money on a central player with a bit of bite!
{Ed001's Note - we were ready to sell Gakpo in the summer, maybe he wants a fresh start after what happened? Or it is in case Rio continues to refuse his contract offer?}
27 Oct 2026 09:32:22
Iraola should drop interest in Minteh and instead focus on Kostoulas. The guy looked like a prime Coutinho against us, very good on the ball and would be a better signing. If Rio doesn't sign we let him go, for 80m at least.
{Ed666's Note - I had the same thoughts about the Greek kid. He’s gonna be some player
27 Oct 2026 09:44:01
But doesn't Rio only have a year left on his contract so hard to see anyone paying 80m? Maybe he'll do a Trent and run it down if we don't let him go to who he wants to.
That's taking it that he doesn't sign a new contract with us.
27 Oct 2026 10:22:26
There is a reason Minteh is Andoni's first choice. We have enough Hollywood signings.
Minteh would end up displacing Gakpo and Rio in an Andoni set up, at least as first choice starter for the big games.
27 Oct 2026 10:59:02
Where could Rio realistically go that would be a bigger draw than us? There's only the likes of Real, Barca, Bayern and PSG that are in the same stratosphere as Liverpool, Barca are broke, Bayern are in a one-horse league that even the likes of Olise has outgrown, Real are a circus with the world's most fickle and entitled fans, PSG are stocked with wingers.
27 Oct 2026 11:14:35
@PB, are you not counting Arsenal or Chelsea (from whence he came). He is a Cockney, after all. If City are in the PL next season they might be a possible alternative?
27 Oct 2026 11:29:26
PatrikBurgher - He, like Trent has dreams of winning the Ballon d'or, which is nigh on impossible when playing in the prem. Germans sides offer a gentler route to regular game time, and a platform to showcase talents on a regular basis.
Bayern would be a good move for him, although he would not be displacing Diaz anytime soon, he can play RW and as a rotation option.
The prem is unrelenting and shortens careers.
27 Oct 2026 11:42:52
Kostoulas would be my first choice signing in attack, beyond anything else in Europe. Though attack isn't where I'd focus, Kostoulas has too much potential to pass up if the chance was there.
27 Oct 2026 09:29:01
Any idea if Rio just wants a better deal or is seriously thinking of moving on Ed?
{Ed001's Note - not a clue sorry.
27 Oct 2026 12:08:19
Putting aside who it would be to replace, we definitely need a couple of left footers in the squad.
We have loads of guile in Wirtz, Isak, Ekitike and Rio. Whereas Minteh is a relentless pressing monster. So I can see the logic of our interest. Whether that interest is still there, I couldn't say.
27 Oct 2026 11:59:36
Rio hasn't refused a contract he is just negotiating via his agents team, all will be fine. Expect that one to get done soon.
27 Oct 2026 12:15:20
Everywhere I've read Rio's contract is expected to get done. its a negotiation, these things take time as we are always told.
27 Oct 2026 12:51:16
I doubt Rio actually wants to leave, he's still a developing 18 year old, doesn't start every game, he's only just broken into the team really. Anywhere he goes, he's likely going to have to go through that whole process again, it would be a terrible career choice. I can't see his agents advising him to make a move, I imagine they're just trying to negotiate a higher wage.
Kostullas does look to be an excellent signing, would take him over Minteh any day of the week, kid has skill, work rate and end product.
27 Oct 2026 13:11:47
Since when has a young player moving to Germany been a bad move? Utter nonsense.
27 Oct 2026 15:56:31
Kostoulas and prime Coutinho in our game on Sunday i fail to see it.
27 Oct 2026 16:10:24
Mighty mouse spot on with the "Hollywood signings" remark.
27 Oct 2026 16:12:17
Rio will ultimately have every single big club in Europe offering him obscene wages to see out his deal at Liverpool and move to them, including Real and Barca. Both of whom would be great fits for him in their own way - imagine Rio on the left and Yamal on the right, for example, or Diomande and Rio as two of Real's wingers.
It is unlikely to be down to money. It'll be what he and his family want, where he seems himself for his peak years. I'd love him to commit to Liverpool but wouldn't be surprised at all to see him wearing a Real or Barca jersey in two year's time.
This is the one danger of poaching the best young talent from other English clubs. We offer them a clear pathway to develop, but they don't hold the same loyalty to the club as the youth graduates.
Rio might look at Liverpool as his long term home. He might also look at Liverpool like a great stepping stone.
{Ed666's Note - Trent didn’t stay loyal and he was a youth graduate? Gone are the days that players have this emotional bond with the club that nurtured them. It’s a short career and they need to make as much paper as possible..and why not?
27 Oct 2026 17:13:56
He'll want to know minteh isn't coming or anyone else so he has a chance to play. Iraola constantly changing wingers each game, sides they play and depends on the match ups and constantly changing during the game should be very positive for him.
27 Oct 2026 18:28:26
Honestly think Rio will go if he's offered a better deal elsewhere,
If it was true that his family were talking with Munich.

Talking about Rio in the same breath as Lamal is insane. He's nowhere near that sort of level, if he went to another top team right now expecting to be the number 1 choice for any position, he'll ruin his career trajectory.
The kids got serious holes in his game, and he won't be afforded the same support he gets with us if he goes with a price tag and a bunch of expectations. It would be Trent part 2.

I think he'll stay and go next time ( if he improves as some expect)

I don't mind us looking at Minteh as long as we don't buy him.

It could be that he sees both as a potential option @Taurus.

Hands up all those who have actually seen Kostoulas more than once.
