25-30m for raheem from city needs to be accepted now. Laughable for us to wait for more. As ed2 pointed out he needs togo and could even leave in jan for as little as 8m. Get the money and get him out. Give inter 18m for kovacic and use the rest towards clyne.

Agree2 Disagree21

Agree, though not re Clyne, Kovacic I think would be excellent. Yes, I know we have others in that position, but I think he would be a decent step up.

12 Jun 2015 03:58:43
what club would accept the first offer they receive for a player?

12 Jun 2015 04:49:06
He needs to go and we should use the funds to get a top striker to provide goals at the top end. Kovacic is a luxury we can't afford and is defo not a step up on Can, IMO.

12 Jun 2015 05:05:05
Haha lots of disagrees. With city having issues with ffp i doubt theyd offer more.

Why sell on the opening bid?
I know we regularly get rinsed in the transfer market but surely we are not that stupid?
Double it and we're talking.

Whatever, the agent is unfortunately quids in.
If Liverpool hold out for more money, his cut will be all the larger.
Can't win on that score.
Money for old rope.

Redohio, Can and Kovacic are very different players. We don't really know how Can will go in midfield as he has barely had a look in. Is he defensively minded like Lucas? He's not the most mobile, so he would need to be an excellent reader of the game. Kovacic also has improvements to make intelligence wise, but he is very mobile, has a killer pass and lovely touch and also beats players for fun at times, or so it appears.

Guys, I know we suck when it comes to buying players, but in terms of sales we do pretty well.
We got pretty much top dollar for Alonso,Mascherano,Torres and Suarez, which are probably the 4 best players we've had that we didn't want to move on,
We made roughly £80-£90 million profit on these lads,
In terms of getting the best deal for Raheem,I'm confident the club will do well,
Spending the money however is a different matter,

12 Jun 2015 09:13:34
I hope the club hold out for at least 35 million GBP. Better to wait for offers from other clubs rather than let him go on the cheap. The media has built him up as the next Superman and LFC should take full advantage of the situation than let another party dictate terms.

12 Jun 2015 09:22:25
He will go of that i am sure.

But i think the opening offer is far too low.

A compromise some where in the £40 mill area will be reached.

I can see Rafa coming in with a bid for him and Wenger too.

May just push the price up.

Whatever i don't see it being settled until towards the back end of the transfer window.

We're terrible at selling players, not sure how you could see it otherwise. Since 2010, we've sold a handful of players for more than we paid- Torres, Suarez, N'Gog, and Shelvey are the only ones that come to mind. Mascherano we sold for something like £2M less than we paid for him.

12 Jun 2015 11:00:53
But how many of those players did we want to keep?
Shelvey? No, Ngog? No,
We wanted them gone and off the wage bill so we let them go cheap,
Not sure how you can use that as an argument RDL,

{Ed001's Note - actually we did want Shelvey to stay, but he asked for the deal to go through.}

12 Jun 2015 11:36:35
My bad Ed, I thought I remembered Rodgers saying he pushed Shelvey to go for the sake of his career,

I do still maintain that when selling a player the club wants to keep, we do well. The difference is, most plsyers the club are happy to move on, hence no reason for the hardball,

{Ed001's Note - Rodgers might well have said that, but that is just another case of him talking crap.}

Burley, I take your point but don't you think the fact that Can has barely played there doesn't mean he can't be effective there neither does it mean Kovacic is better than him.
