After watching Milner playing for us I can understand why he didn't play in midfield at city.However I think he could possibly succeed as a DM given his energy and tenacity.does anyone think the same.

No because he has no positional sense to play centre mid let alone as a defensive minded midfield player.

Put him out wider like his role at City. Maybe then we can get some decent service into the box. We don't need any more shoehorned positions.

Good DMs rarely have either in abundance, far more important are their vision, positioning & tackling. Most good DMs stay on their feet unless it is absolutely necessary, going to ground is a huge risk and often exposes your back line against good attacking players. Imo its the hardest position to play in midfield and requires a great deal of footballing intelligence.

Just play 4-4-2.
A defensive midfielder is a trend and we don't need it.

How about a 4-4-2 diamond with Milner on the right side of the diamond? It gives the flexibility to tuck in and play more centrally when not in possession, but also go out wider, combine with Clyne and bring in those crosses he is good at for Benteke and the other froward.

Who would play in the other diamond positions AG?
Lucas at the bottom, and Milner on the right yes, but then I would play either coutinho or firmino on the left or tip. And we have Can, hendo and lalana wasted on the bench.

i would play Henderson ahead of Milner.
if its a diamond i'd like to see coutinho / firmino at the tip, henderson and can / lallana as the two with lucas at the bottom.

It depends on the opposition Mikey. Henderson on the left side of the diamond and Coutinho at the tip. Firmino can be played further forward as a striker or will be on the bench.

I think if we played the diamond we would see a vast improvement immediately, Its the formation we played when so successful - So Lucas/Can at the bottom, Hendo / Milner either side, Coutinho at the tip with DS and CB up top - Let the others fight to get into that starting 11 - BR seems to be trying to play all of them instead of actually using a squad and letting players fight for places - 'Attack is the best form of defence' as they say

Agree 100% cialbray, Can not mobile or creative enough in the more forward midfield positions for me, use a mix of Hendo/Milner/Llalana/Coutinho for those and then either Coutinho or Firmino at tip of diamond and then two from Tekkers, studge, ings, firmino or origi upfront. an almost random pick from that list has got to be more dangerous than what we have right now.
