Morning all, been a few days! Bit behind on the old pages but seems people are back to moaning already!
Last nights game was ok. ish. Showed some good signs. I thought Textiera was very good. The young lad at right back was a bit loose first half, but he tightened up in the second and showed his strength going forward. Not debuts for any of them. Feel for Origi. He's a young kid still adapting to the league and I felt you could see the disappointment on his face at the final whistle. While he didn't set the stage alight last night, he has shown he is very strong in the air, won almost every header he went up for.
I also thought Ibe was outstanding, joy to watch. Lucas was very good as usual when he came on, opened the game up. Bogdan did a very decent job between the sticks too.
Though we are a bit short on the goals front, I think last night Firmino showed signs of what he is capable of, and with our strikers fit and Firmino/ Coutinho chipping in, it can only get better. Tough game in the next round but should be a good one.

Agree2 Disagree1

Not that I expect much difference yet, seeing as Rodgers and the powers that be have created a mess here, but there is minimal difference in now and 6/7 games ago. Very minimal.

Personally i thought Origi was really poor in the air and protecting the ball, I won't bash the kid he's only 20 but I just don't think he's a striker for me he would be better used as part of a three if I'm honest - Again its not bashing but he doesn't see those runs to create an opportunity or open up space when he isn't in possession if that makes sense. I do think we would see a lot more of him out wide i really do but up top as a central striker i just don't think its him - Ings does these runs so well off the ball and the space he creates allows other players the chance on goal or a chance to play him in and results show this.

Not really, you can seethe high pressing. Firmino last night was shouting and pointing at Origi to close the defenders down. Players being played in their positions, kids being given opportunities. Plus, not sure if it is just me, but Lucas seems to having a more attacking look about him. He seems to have been given orders to get the ball forward quicker.

I don't think I watched the same game then. I keep seeing Origi losing aerial battle. Despite his tall frame, he should protect and win more ball. I get frustrated on how many time he lose a heading battle. But he's only 20, he will only improve.

Origi lost some aerial battles, I agree but he always shows a willingness to run the channels and provide space for others to run into. It was his run that drew Distin out which created the space for Firmino to play in Tex and the chance and goal happened. In other times, Firmino could have played him in one on one w/ the GK but chose to shoot. Is that his fault too? The boy is young and raw but shows a willingness to fight and remember, he wasn`t supposed to be playing this much but now he is so let`s just support him though this time. Or would people rather have Balo back who couldn`t even be arsed to even walk on the pitch?

Despite only winning 1-0 I actually enjoyed watching us play for probably the first time since Spurs at the start of last season. For the first time in a while we looked like we were going to score. We looked a lot more comfortable passing than we have in a while and our attack looked fluid and reasonably comfortable. I enjoyed watching Teixiera, Firmino and Ibe combining, I think Ibe has the pace we have been missing and Tex has the hunger of a young player desperate to impress. I don't know whether this can be attributed to Klopp's training and implementing his style, or a lack of Milner and Lallana slowing down play.

I have seen a lot of debate today about Tex and Lallana, and it's a tough one really. Whilst Lallana has more experience and had played his ass off since Klopp's arrival, un doubtedly improved since last season, which has become evident already, I've noticed his tendency to slow down play, giving defenders plenty of time to get into position. Still don't understand for the life of me why we signed Milner, with the abundance of players we have in his position.

It's still early days I know, and I guess things will unfold as they do, and we will discover more about Klopp's management style as time goes on, but the players actually looked happy last night, which hasn't been evident for a while. I think a month ago that match could have gone to penalties after a tedious, goalless 120 mins. We only scored one, but it could easily have been more.

Patience is the key guys

Super.
