Great win! Made up for kelleher (and klopps faith in him justified) and ground it out as a team. Extra kudos to elliot and konate for their pens, especially so late on, and young players. Three things for me 1) what a confidence booster, giving us great momentum for the final 3rd of the season. 2) subbing goalkeepers is crazy. Mendy was incredible today, and just won a penalty shootout. I do not get it, especially when klopp could have easily played Alisson. 3) whilst I’m delighted we won, worried about Thiago. We are a different team when he plays and without him, we sometimes can lack control. We need him fit for the run in!

I thought in his first season Thiago was awful there’s too much show boating and he has no idea how to press at the right time. I cringed when he was on the team sheet as I knew we’d get broken on after him losing the ball at least a dozen times in 90 minutes.
This season though he’s really improved and would be in my starting 11 every week. I don’t 100% agree on controlling the game with him in the team he does give us that vision a passing quality from midfield.
I thought we lost a bit of control after Hendo went off today. A midfield of Milly, Elliot and a tiring Fabinho did struggle to win and keep the ball enough.

In fairness to him Becker, it was his first season in the premier league and it generally is a very tough league to adjust to. That added with the fact we lost our whole defence, Fabinho and henderson for long periods and he had injuries/ C.V., it is understandable he struggled. Although during the run towards the end of the season I felt he did show his quality.

Agree, I didn't agree with taking off Hendo. We lost complete control and whilst I think Elliott has the potential to be a very good player, it felt like a step too far to throw him into this match. He did really struggle to get on the ball but it all worked out in the end.

People who doubt Thiago just don't get this sport. Imagine you sign a Barca, Bayern pedigree and doubt his abilities lol.

There are things Thiago is good at, and others not so good, TT.
The good things are excellent though and outweigh his weaknesses.
I gave him a lot of grief last season, I was trying to understand where he fitted in but, in hindsight, the absences in the team were too much to properly judge him upon.
But you’d have to be blind to ignore his qualities and value to Liverpool, he shown enough to clearly demonstrate that.
He’s potentially key in the CL especially, that is his playground.
Let’s hope it’s just a strain or something minor.

Thiago is world class, but his injury record is very concerning. Is it worth keeping him for the times he is fit, or could the salary allocated to him (and a significant salary it is supposed to be) be better used on another player? I don’t know, but when he plays he gives us something completely different in that midfield, I hope he can find a way to stay fitter for longer, he could be the difference between us winning more silverware if he does.

Thiago is an awesome player but needs others to do legwork around him imo. Fab can do that but Hendo (legend that he is) is losing that ability.
