The biggest stand-out for me (watching on the tv in USA) was the crowd. Loudest I’ve heard a field in 20 years (admittedly from a distance) . No wonder the kids came out flying too.

Not in the first half, but the crowd certainly got properly going in the second half.

When you have the opposition manager dedicate more air time to talking about the atmosphere at Anfield in press conference than the performance of his team, you got to believe that the crowd sung their hearts out. Younger players feed off the crowds energy and Anfield indeed prepared a sumptuous meal for them :)

The atmosphere was unbelievable in the second half and I’ve still got a sore throat. Everyone stays for klopp at the end as well which is brilliant.
{Ed025's Note - its a pity that the fist half was non league standard longthing but you got the job done, mind you you do have a lot of injuries....cue editor with his fingers down his throat making baulking noises.. :)

ED25, no it wasn't so and that tells me you did not watch the game all the way which is fine. It was end to end from start to finish (Luton went toe to toe and hats of to them, btw) and Diaz alone could have had a brace in the first 5 mins already. Gakpo and Elliot could have scored as well in that first half, IMO.
We cut them open several times in 4 v 3 or 3 v 4 situations (like we did vs Brentford) but either the decision making or execution was off. That ain't non league standard, mate. If you are looking for such then I suggest you look elsewhere.
As for injuries, Klopp does not talk about them neither does he make any excuses and that has permeated all over the squad that even the kids give their best. Our boys are prepared whatever is coming their way mentally and physically, IMO. Im here for the ride.
{Ed025's Note - and a very interesting ride that is Oli i must say, i did only watch the first half mate as i fell asleep after that though boredom, it was a dreadful first half and im sure you will agree, To his credit Klopp has not moaned about injuries its more the supporters but maybe thats just them looking for excuses for any lackluster performances..

{Ed025's Note - i actually watch South Liverpool when i can Oli as my nephew plays for them mate, so maybe a bit more than you may suspect..

Ed25, clearly I don't agree so "you are NOT sure we can agree on that". Also, good to know your kid plays non league footie. Now if games (both halves) that have chances for both teams with end to end intensity and excitement at both goals, is dreadful and boring to you then again, your footie analysis needs to be re-evaluated, IMO.
Not surprised tho since you strongly believe Pickford is still a top 5 GK in the PL despite. That's some exceptional analysis right there. Bravo, sir.
{Ed025's Note - there are 3 tiers in goalkeeping for me Oli, the first tier contains Alisson, Edison and possibly Martinez, pickford is certainly in the second tier mate and as Englands No1 top 5 is not much of a stretch, i may have been wrong to call the fist half boring...pathetically inept may have been the correct call, non league football is tough and very enjoyable for me, the standard may not be brilliant but its certainly higher than the AFCON, if South Liverpool entered that they would probably win it..

Ed 25.Since you mentioned the AFCON. I recently saw a video from 1952 (I think) of Nigeria playing a non league team from Liverpool. Nigeria was playing without any boots, tackles were flying in . Nigerian team won 5-2.
{Ed025's Note - i never knew that Strom, all the African teams seem to have one or two really good players but the rest of the team are shocking, i dont know whether or not you watched any of the games mate but i thought the standard was very poor..

I agree with u Ed25 . some good technical players and then others in the same team who work part time at maccys on a Sunday . the 1952 game though unbelievable to see them bare footed and the others with 1952 style football boots and all their studs flashing .
