Any ITK’s heard anything regarding the Endrick rumours? I hope they are not true.

Seems like we are getting a bit desperate.

6

20 Aug 2026 21:01:10
Not heard anything of it but if Paul Joyce has tweeted about it then it's most likely true.

7

20 Aug 2026 21:22:22
Potential, but isn't he a bell apparently? But I tend to see how players turn out, going by many have proven people wrong or me over many years, many was againt Robbo then boom many was for Kieta and well haha, let's buckle up for the transfers incoming and outgoing whoever they are including Barcola haha.

1

20 Aug 2026 21:29:35
Huge progress was made tonight re the Barcola file in relation to payment structure. I reckon we might get big news late tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

13

20 Aug 2026 21:38:52
Fantastic, thanks VG.

1

20 Aug 2026 21:41:50
Yes, Victor! Would calm the site down hugely if something was announced. 🥵

4

20 Aug 2026 21:45:04
He's next on the list after Minteh apparently, but comes with a bit of baggage.

0

20 Aug 2026 21:45:06
Thanks VG.

0

20 Aug 2026 21:55:40
Excellent, VG!! Here's hoping we get a few more over the line.

0

20 Aug 2026 21:56:30
Is Endrick the lad that is wrapped up in a very serious investigation that may end up in court?

0

20 Aug 2026 22:00:35
The next 36 hours could be crucial...

1

20 Aug 2026 22:08:11
How would Minteh pass his medical if he's injured?

2

20 Aug 2026 22:13:23
Thanks, VG...

What a way to lift our spirits. 👍👍

1

20 Aug 2026 22:21:36
Cheers VG.

20 Aug 2026 22:23:15
Endrick over Minteh it or Mbaye all day long!! Plays multiple positions well including RW, CF and as a 10. Big issue is getting him out of Madrid, reports suggest he wants to fight for his place but he isn't going to replace Diomande, Vini or Mbappe and they still have Rodrygo to return so maybe positions may change closer to end of window ??

0

20 Aug 2026 22:34:19
Reports say online that Endrick could be a short term loan option to provide cover up front and is separate to our Barcola and RW pursuits. This would allow us to sell Gakpo, who is Isak's only backup at present. If we got Barcola, Mbaye/Minteh and Endrick whilst selling Gakpo, that would be a great outcome.

20 Aug 2026 19:27:00
Premier League Injuries has Minteh down as calf/heel/groin injury and out until 24/10/2026.

4

20 Aug 2026 20:33:38
Sounds painful.

9

20 Aug 2026 20:35:08
Hopefully it won't matter, as I think we'd be absolutely mad to purchase him. Nowhere near the level imo.

9

20 Aug 2026 20:40:36
With our injury record last season, he'd fit right in.

9

20 Aug 2026 20:47:26
3 week international break would soften the impact, which would mean Minteh would miss 7 or so games. The relatively short term injury is not my main concern, but rather his overall skill set. Very poor finishing, bit of a headless chicken running down blind alleys - hard pass for me.

2

20 Aug 2026 20:52:33
Not even bought him yet and I hope he misses more than the 3rd of the season that's being reported

1

20 Aug 2026 20:59:19
Calf/heel/groin is the new Hand/foot and Mouth.

2

20 Aug 2026 22:10:01
I'd rather have Alan Minter and he's a dead pugilist.

0

20 Aug 2026 22:28:27
Ron, I understand he was doing some kick backs, got one wrong and pulled his calf, whilst heeling himself in the groin.

On the negative side, he's injured.

On the positive side, he's very flexible and possibly double jointed.

Swings and roundabouts.

20 Aug 2026 18:28:15
Hi Diddly Ho,

Archie Gray is someone Liverpool have enquired about recently to his agent/team (can’t remember what was said), not sure if our interest remains or if clubs have had talks - could be one to keep an eye on or a load of nothing.

Diddly out.

36

20 Aug 2026 19:19:51
Thanks neighbourino. Not sure he's what we need, but thanks for the info, as always.

3

20 Aug 2026 19:27:07
Cheers, Ned.

2

20 Aug 2026 19:36:08
Saed El Mala new contract. Another bad rumour.

0

20 Aug 2026 19:39:01
Think he captained Spurs in pre season.

0

20 Aug 2026 19:45:19
I think Minteh is a sign LFC will probably not continue with Barcola.

7

20 Aug 2026 19:53:11
Cheers, Neddy!

0

20 Aug 2026 19:54:34
Minteh is a sign we are looking at alternatives to Mbaye. Ned didn't mention Minteh.

1

20 Aug 2026 20:00:00
Looks like it, Postklopp.

0

20 Aug 2026 20:09:56
Yep, Barcola, who plays LW, swapped out for an injured Minteh, who plays RW. 🤣

2

20 Aug 2026 20:18:31
Recent rumours about Minteh, the chap that Everton are after, El Mala etc, I believe, are being pushed into the press to put pressure to get Mbaye. I believe we will end up with both the PSG wingers and keep Gakpo.

Just my gut feel though.

3

20 Aug 2026 20:19:21
Is this the original Ned Flanders?

1

20 Aug 2026 20:32:34
Barcola left wing, Minteh right.

We haven't agreed a deal for either yet, but are willing to pay £125m for Barcola and £60m for Minteh. So the online rumours go.

1

20 Aug 2026 20:34:26
I think the original Ned Flanders is a fictional character.

4

20 Aug 2026 20:39:36
Amazes me how people can get so far in life without knowing their left from their right, bring back natural selection.

2

20 Aug 2026 21:01:08
Hi Zed, I don't think PSG are feeling any pressure because we're pushing for Minteh. 😂

0

20 Aug 2026 21:09:52
I have a friend who knows the Gray family.
He told me that LFC asked about Archie earlier in the window, and Spurs gave a clear not for sale, so we then backed off. (I posted messages on here saying this).

After reading Ned's post, I rang my friend, and he says LFC have asked Spurs to be kept informed of Archie's availability, but will only make a move if Spurs give a definite green light.

5

20 Aug 2026 21:23:04
Cheers, Parny. Most teams aren't selling their home grown players.

0

20 Aug 2026 16:39:15
Just seen on the Athletic that we have had a £50m bid rejected for Minteh. Can't help but feel Hughes is getting desperate.

32

20 Aug 2026 16:54:15
It would be incredibly stupid to sign a player who is injured and not available for at least three months. Hughes should have been put on gardening leave as soon as Edwards left.

39

20 Aug 2026 16:56:40
The leaks have well and truly been sealed. At the same time, in this market, I would take him for somewhere around that fee. He works hard and has talent. Wouldn't be a world beater, but with Isak and Wirtz, hopefully being the main men, he doesn't need to be.

8

20 Aug 2026 16:58:00
Bloody hell. Injured for 3 months, apparently, and crap when he's fit. What a joke.

24

20 Aug 2026 17:05:02
He's absolutely bang average.

17

20 Aug 2026 17:06:05
To be fair, the various reports refer to the "last few days" for when we submitted a bid. Minteh is a rw option, so I'm not sure it's necessarily desperation, but it looks like we are trying to fill that role.

7

20 Aug 2026 17:06:13
Don't think so mate,
We've been linked with him for 12-18 months on and off.
Just silly because he's injured at the moment.
Given how good of a coach AI is, I think he could turn Minteh into a beast.
I think I'm in the minority, but I think he could turn out to be a good signing.

18

20 Aug 2026 17:12:34
Been a terrible window for Liverpool this. I can't believe Hughes wasn't sacked with Slot.

23

20 Aug 2026 17:04:23
People keep worrying about the lack of transfers but the way I see it, the less transfers we do the better.

Hughes has proven himself incompetence personified, with the players he identifies, the fees and contracts he negotiates and the amount of time it takes for him to get the deals done. The less money he spends, the less damage he can do and the less of his signings we'll be stuck with.

Get him off to Saudi as soon as the window is over and bring in a proper sporting director who will make decent, well-thought-out signings who are the right fit for us.

20

20 Aug 2026 17:17:30
I actually don't mind Minteh and think there is huge room for growth.

If it's true, it's madness when he's out for 3 months injured.
Looks like we're chasing our tails in the hope something comes off.

Seems like the plan is very limited, and so far negligent.

9

20 Aug 2026 17:17:32
KFC boy called that to be fair.

6

20 Aug 2026 17:18:37
Absolutely terrible business if we keep pushing for him.

24

20 Aug 2026 17:24:19
If this is true, it reconfirms that Hughes is/was a complete joke of an appointment.

The bloke has had more than enough time to put things in place for this window, yet his ineptitude and limittions are highlighted once again - this time, opting for a player that is injured and won't be back (match fitness wise) until around November/December.

I bet the STC sorted his Al Hilal pretty quick - no prolonged, protracted, dawnout problems there, me thinks - Jokes!, but us fans aren't lauughing.

9

20 Aug 2026 17:26:27
The trend this window seems to be, we are linked with really good players, then everyone says it is done, then we buy or try to buy a Poundland version.

8

20 Aug 2026 17:26:31
I've seen two months in places. If that's correct, he would miss 7 games. Hardworking, and has blistering pace. Kind of winger we need with Isak and Wirtz up top. I like Minteh, but I would rather we went for Mbaye. Maybe this will get PSG to lower their demands.

6

20 Aug 2026 17:26:31
Bloody amateur hour. With the injury, why not just buy him in Jan?

This has to be one of the worst transfer windows we've had in a very long time.

How we are about to start the season without a Salah replacement is diabolical.

10

20 Aug 2026 17:39:47
I don't believe that story for a second.

7

20 Aug 2026 17:40:28
If it's true, it seems the info I had was wrong. Sorry for that. 😂

21

20 Aug 2026 17:45:50
Given he's injured, we can almost guarantee that this is a BS rumour. Almost.

5

20 Aug 2026 17:47:55
The panic button has been well and truly activated!!!

5

20 Aug 2026 17:50:49
Have a feeling this is to push PSG into agreeing transfer and we've no real intention of signing him.

5

20 Aug 2026 18:00:09
He's 6 weeks into an 8 week recovery from injury period, not 3 months.

6

20 Aug 2026 18:01:20
Maybe I watch talent differently, but I am a fan of Mintah, and I would take him for the amount.

6

20 Aug 2026 18:04:39
Florian, it's two months recovery from surgery and then another month of rehabilitation and fitness. So 10-12 weeks. We'd be unlikely to see him until mid to end November. That's without any setbacks. We've not learnt from signing Aquilani, Melo & Isak.

5

20 Aug 2026 17:32:08
VG, can you confirm we are pushing for Minteh?

0

20 Aug 2026 18:06:02
Why is that desperate? It was said weeks, if not months, ago by several well respected Journo's that we were interested in Minteh, Fernandez-Pardo and El Mala as winger targets.

If Minteh is a long-term target, we'd be stupid to pivot to an alternative we don't want as much just because he's injured for a mere 2 months.

I like Minteh, and that's well documented on here. Rapid, aggressive and lots of potential.

13

20 Aug 2026 18:12:51
I'd rather Hughes just left now. Even if it means we get no other transfers. Never wanted him.

8

20 Aug 2026 18:13:38
Last time I was this underwhelmed was when I got a text saying I'd won the postcode lottery and it was £2.

6

20 Aug 2026 18:16:03
Minteh is a poor option.
The fact he is injured for months at the start of the season makes me think this is nonsense.
Even Richard Hughes can't be that stupid.
I believe we will sign a RW though, but he will be African.

4

20 Aug 2026 18:19:15
Hughes will be digging them out of the Cemetery next?

3

20 Aug 2026 18:21:42
This window is making me think at 23:50 on deadline day we'll announce Sancho haha. Rollercoaster this one.

1

20 Aug 2026 18:25:07
Minteh brings better balance to our forward line vs Mbaye. There's a long international break coming soon, so he won't miss too many games. If his injury allows us to get him at a discount, I'm all for it.

3

20 Aug 2026 18:26:40
Smells like a smokescreen to try and speed up the Mbaye purchase potentially, seem to remember us doing it with one of the Norwich fullbacks a while ago?

6

20 Aug 2026 18:35:23
Sorry, Victor, just usually when you read "somebody is back in two months" that usually means he will be back on the pitch in two months. Didn't see it in brackets, "but add on another month onto that for recovery." But cool, you want it to be three months so we'll add on another month for ye. 😂

3

20 Aug 2026 18:44:30
I like Minteh. But only if a target for alongside Barcola. Not instead of.

All this talk of players being rw or lw…..

Most can and will have to play on both sides under Iraola with how he gets wingers to switch so often.

Time will tell what happens. I'm actually pleased that the club seemingly have plugged the leaks. Journos are trying to make money and are giving best guesses. With hopes of being correct.

1

20 Aug 2026 18:50:50
Yes, it would be incredibly stupid to sign a player on a 5 year contract when he can't play for a couple of weeks.

5

20 Aug 2026 18:56:42
There's some ups on a rollercoaster, Gaz.

What puzzles me is Iraola and Hughes have worked together before, so Iraola must have known what to expect and the close to the wire transfer approach and he still came!

0

20 Aug 2026 19:01:10
Forgive my ignorance, but I assume Iraola has some input with regards to recruitment?

2

20 Aug 2026 19:07:22
I got one for a quid chicken... gutted.

0

20 Aug 2026 19:13:55
Hughs is pure Mintah with his behaviour and decision making.

0

20 Aug 2026 19:19:39
I mean, my only knowledge of us pushing for Minteh is when it came out in the news.

Despite popular belief amongst people who like to slag me off, I don't know everything that goes on. 😅 I just share what I hear.

11

20 Aug 2026 19:20:48
With this latest news, it doesn't feel like Barcola is coming to LFC.

1

20 Aug 2026 19:30:41
Doesn't AI like 2 wingers to rotate on each side? Maybe Minteh and Mbaye for the right wing?

2

20 Aug 2026 19:43:46
Ah Rome, here's how it goes. When it's a player everyone is happy with, it's a "this one has Ireola written all over it", but when it's one people find underwhelming, auld Tricky Dickie better take cover.

2

20 Aug 2026 19:56:10
Shughes55, was "I believe we will sign a RW though, but he will be African" a reference to Mbaye? Because Minteh is African.

1

20 Aug 2026 19:56:17
If Arsenal are allowed 7 senior CBs, we're allowed 2 wingers for each wing.

1

20 Aug 2026 20:00:33
What I can't understand is if we have offered £50 million for Minteh, why not pay the £42 million PSG want for Mbeye? Surely the better pick?

1

20 Aug 2026 20:11:25
So many negative comments regarding Minteh. I think he would be an excellent addition. Yes, his output in terms of g/an isn't great, but he's a tidy enough player who works very hard. He also creates a lot, which is exactly how we should be playing with Isak. Him and Barcola on the wings, with Flo pulling the strings, and Isak could potentially be outstanding and very well balanced.

However I believe this is just a negotiating tactic to force PSG to lower their demands for Mbaye, especially considering the amount they wanted off Leverkusen is much lower than the amount they want from us.

1

20 Aug 2026 20:15:49
I'm surprised that we made an offer; there were, even as far back as this morning, saying that the club were doing nothing in this window. Yet again, people were wrong-footed about Minteh and had no idea that we were even speaking to the player or Brighton.

1

20 Aug 2026 20:16:48
I remember signing Mane and being completely baffled and underwhelmed.

Turned out that, for me, he was one of the most important and best signings LFC ever made.

Let people play, settle into their role, and then judge.

2

20 Aug 2026 20:36:20
Klucas, utter rubbish. No one was underwhelmed with Mane, people raised their eyebrows over the fee.

As for Minteh, the fact we're bidding for a player out for three months is criminal. Sack Hughes tomorrow.

0

20 Aug 2026 21:12:26
It really doesn't matter who we sign, some of you will find a way to criticise Hughes for it.

You have no idea how to do his job, or even what his job entails, but you don't get exactly what you want so Hughes is an amateur, should've been sacked blah blah blah.

The same guy who completed 2 of the biggest deals in English football history last summer for 2 of the world's most sought after players.

This nonsense has to stop, it's getting really, really boring.

2

20 Aug 2026 22:05:59
Frode, all you need to do is search for Mane on here, and there were lots of people unhappy with his signing. There is no need to gaslight us.

1

20 Aug 2026 16:35:59.
Liverpool £50m bid for Minteh rejected by Brighton. The Athletic reported this one.

Not who we should be looking at imo.

12

20 Aug 2026 16:45:15
Another one out of the blue.

3

20 Aug 2026 16:46:13
Good, let's hope they reject every offer. 😂

14

20 Aug 2026 16:47:18
Minteh is out, and if LFC really wanted Minteh, we should have looked at Kang Lee. Athletico got a great deal there.

5

20 Aug 2026 16:51:17
I like his energy and work rate, but the end product just isn't there. Could he improve at a big club? I guess there's only one way to find out.

4

20 Aug 2026 16:52:37
Don't believe this one.
Specially as it was James Pearce who broke the exclusive.
I reckon he's been briefed by someone at the club. To probably put pressure on PSG in regard to Mbaye.
imo.

9

20 Aug 2026 16:54:01
Minteh is injured and out for a further 2-3 months! I wonder if the reason we are bidding is because there is no competition due to the injury? I guess Mbaye is too expensive and unproven...

1

20 Aug 2026 16:55:01
Minteh is currently out injured for about 3 months. Absolutely stupid stuff.

7

20 Aug 2026 17:05:59
Pretty sure, one of the Fields or VG said that there would be a number of players linked in the coming days that would be complete nonsense. This is likely the first given his injury.

8

20 Aug 2026 17:12:28
Like Chewy, I like his work rate, also his pace, strength and competitiveness. He's given us a few problems over the last few seasons, but yes, his end product isn't consistent. I like Brighton as a club, and think they develop players well who can then kick on elsewhere. It seems a genuine bid has gone in, rather than just us opening talks and observing.

0

20 Aug 2026 17:22:25
No one saw this one coming, another bolt from the blue.

3

20 Aug 2026 17:31:31
They all are, Frode. Crazy isn't it.

2

20 Aug 2026 14:46:56
Morrison and Ramsey have both completed their moves.

15

20 Aug 2026 12:50:09
🚨 Manchester City enquired to Crystal Palace about Adam Wharton but were told 22yo midfielder not available this summer. England international among candidates on #MCFC recruitment list but #CPFC have no intention of selling before deadline @TheAthleticFC.

8

20 Aug 2026 13:38:47
As much as I like Wharton, he is not what we need unless Macca leaves. We need a DM as your name states hahaha.

15

20 Aug 2026 14:00:04
I really thought we'd sell Macca and sign Wharton this summer. However, with Macca confirmed as staying, there is absolutely no need for Wharton anymore.

Jones played 2850 minutes last season, and a large chunk of that was at RB (540 minutes). We've added Aruajo as extra RB cover now, though, and Iraola seems to trust Frimpong there as well, whereas Slot played Frimpong RW a lot. So we're only really looking to replace about 2300 minutes in midfield across every competition.

The main Jones replacement in midfield is quite simply going to be Szoboszlai. Iraola has made it very clear that Wirtz will be playing behind the striker for him, which pushes Szoboszlai back into midfield to rotate with Gravenberch and Mac Allister. I think Endo will stay as well for his experience and leadership, especially in the early Cup rounds when we'll play with lots of young players.

With Nyoni and McConnell for additional depth, we have 3 players of starting quality and 3 back ups for just 2 positions in the team. By the end of the season, I think Nyoni may well prove himself to be starting quality as well.

That's pretty comfortable in terms of midfield depth, but I do question whether we lack a certain profile of player. I'd have sold Macca and bought a mobile ball winner like Camara, but I really don't see it happening now. We can't force Macca out if he doesn't want to leave.

Hopefully Iraola has a plan to get our midfield balanced again through good coaching and tactics. The rumours of Gavi are interesting as he's a mobile ball winner but he has a very questionable injury history. I'm therefore unconvinced we'll move for him at the price Barcelona will probably want.

20

20 Aug 2026 14:08:56
Spot on, MK. Some just want players bought for the sake of it. If Macca had left for a hefty fee, that's a different matter.

8

20 Aug 2026 14:09:15
Reports suggest Utd had agreed a fee with Barca for £35/40mil for the player, but the player turned them down.
That fee seems very reasonable.
It's unclear whether he turned them down because it's Utd, or because he doesn't want to leave at all.

Seems like a very "moneyball" target.
Quality player at a reasonable price, but has his own issues, from a club who's in financial diffs.

3

20 Aug 2026 14:12:02
If Macca wants his move to Madrid, then he is going to have to play for it this season. Can't imagine they would be interested in him on last season's performance.
On a side note, was it ever revealed what his mystery illness/injury was at the start of last season? Just wondering if that could explain his sudden lack of form. Maybe I'm clutching at straws!

4

20 Aug 2026 14:17:29
I agree that Szob will play in midfield with Grav, and, for me, he 100% has to. No one else has the strength, speed, endurance and mobility to operate there, other than him, who can cope with the workload that Iraola will be demanding.

That could, and maybe should, also massively help Grav, as long as he sits rather than keep wandering forward!

6

20 Aug 2026 14:22:16
Gingerlfc, I'm one of the most optimistic people in the entire fanbase judging by this forum, but is £40m really reasonable?

If you look at the last few players we've signed with a history of multiple knee injuries, it's Thiago Alcantara, Arthur Melo and Federico Chiesa. I know Gavi is younger and might therefore have a better chance of bouncing back, but honestly I would not be paying that much money for anyone with that kind of injury record.

Chiesa cost £12m, Arthur was a £3m loan fee, and Thiago was only £20m. Somehow I still feel we were ripped off despite only spending £35m on the trio! Players tend to come back well from an isolated/single ACL tear nowadays. But these deeper knee issues that reoccur multiple times just seem to be career destroying.

6

20 Aug 2026 14:23:57
I think people have forgotten all too quickly that our weak midfield won the Premier League just 1 year ago. Are we dismissing their ability too hastily, considering the entirety of the situation? If nothing else, that title win warrants an opportunity to redeem themselves this year under better management, I think.

15

20 Aug 2026 14:24:58
"On a side note, was it ever revealed what his mystery illness/injury was at the start of last season?"

He had hernia surgery.
That's why he didn't play the last few games of the title-winning season and was late back to pre-season last season.
Recovery from hernia surgery means little to no movement.

Spot on Chewy. Some people have very short memories.

5

20 Aug 2026 14:44:41
£35/40mil for a quality 22yr old playing for the one of the world's best teams, having won several league titles, World Cup winner with his country and has 4yrs left on his contract.

Not sure where you expect to pay much less.

7

20 Aug 2026 14:44:53
Having the midfield numbers and having a functional midfield are two different things.

Szobo & Grav are not a functional midfield pivot. Time will show that.

And Macca cares more about his Argentina team mates, hairline and yerba mate than he does for LFC.

Counting Endo for his leadership and experience is a joke.

He was a stop-gap 3 seasons ago. He's now just dead weight that is using up a non-HG spot.

McConnell has looked way out of his depth in the preseason games so far, so I am surprised to hear he has been told he is staying.

20 Aug 2026 14:49:03
I'm not so sure MK/Chewy

Firstly, we can all agree we are missing a midfield profile. But, secondly, I think we need another body. We are a Gravenberg injury away from a Macca-Dom midfield where a kid who has never started a PL game (I don't think) will be the main back up for both double pivot spots? For 3 games per week?

I've loved what I've seen from Nyoni in pre-season, and he will get minutes with or without a new signing for sure, but he is still developing and many on here had written him off before those handful of friendly games.

It sounds comforting mentioning Endo and Mcconnell, but there's a reason nobody is coming in for them when they are both available. Can you imagine one of them being in your double pivot in a run of games, say Villa away, Bayern away, Arsenal away. Sometimes fixtures all like that on European weeks.

I'd feel different if Trey was a season older or it was the title winning version of Macca.

Bear in mind if Wirtz gets injured, Dom or Macca takes his place too most likely.

3

20 Aug 2026 14:52:09
Agree with you, Chewy. A lot of folk on here were saying that whoever comes in would sort things out, as it was all down to Slot and his tactics. So, let's give Iraola a chance to get a tune out of a Premiership winning midfield.

I await posters saying Salah won us the league. Well, we spent over 300 million on attacking players, last summer, to compensate for his loss.

8

20 Aug 2026 15:01:51
By October AI will teach Macca to do what Wharton does, to some extent, I believe. Hopefully, what our coach can squeeze out of this squad will help to keep afloat and above no-CL zone, maybe a domestic cup by season's end, who knows. Just having Iraola and lads coming back from injuries gives a lot of hope.

2

20 Aug 2026 15:18:31
My own thoughts here, just wondering if we could possibly encourage Harvey Elliott to move to Palace as part of a deal to buy Wharton. It would avoid Palace having to panic buy a replacement. I realise that would be a big ask and very difficult to get agreement from all parties, but sometimes anything is possible.

4

20 Aug 2026 15:32:41
It's not about the balance of the midfield, it's that we have a load of tarts in the positions. No grit or mouth on any of them, and we can easily be overrun. The reason I think it's important is because we haven't got them credentials anywhere else in the team, particularly the defence.

This is how teams sussed us out, and bulldoze through the centre as we farted about.

2

20 Aug 2026 15:32:57
Clemence, why would Palace be interested in Elliott?

0

20 Aug 2026 15:39:00
Won't knock people happy with McConnell, Trey and Endo as our backups. I've already said my piece. Let's hope to God the first choice 3 or 4 don't get injuries for any length of time. There's optimism and then there's just naivety. Same people will then be giving out bucketloads about the club when it will be too late.

0

20 Aug 2026 15:45:28
I agree with Chewy, I've not written them off in light of how crap Slot was last season. But the likes of Arsenal are drastically better than when we won the league. We need a better midfield.

0

20 Aug 2026 16:04:38
If Wharton (22) cannot get into an England World Cup squad when Jordan Henderson could at age 36?

Shows. If you are not good enough for England, you are certainly not good enough for LFC?

1

20 Aug 2026 16:11:44
God bless you, Ed01! I'm going to frame your response, alongside my photo of John Barnes! Hope you're well, mate.

I think people are underestimating just how much of a difference a top coach can make over the course of a season. 10

20 Aug 2026 16:28:41
Imagine what he could do then Ed if his squad was ready to go all out in the four comps.Im excited for Ireola but they have to give him some more help than what they have done.

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - yes, but you are the one judging players on how they play in friendlies. 9

20 Aug 2026 16:49:36
Are we getting desperate? Ormstein has just stated that we have had a bid for Minteh, who's still injured, rejected by Brighton.

0

20 Aug 2026 16:41:05
Ed001 we need midfielders. At least one top one at the very least. All good work in the training pitch can and will become undone with what we currently have available. Grav may pull up his socks but macca is a problem. No legs and basically leaving us wide open when he's out of position.

0

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - yes, but we should still have enough to compete at the top with this squad. I just don't think it is worth getting wound up over it, if we don't get one. Hughes will be gone soon and we can then hopefully look forward to competence in the SD role.}

5

20 Aug 2026 17:30:55
Wharton will be a top player and better than Macca. AI would be great for Wharton's game, if he ends up at City we will regret it. I'd buy him anyway.
But, looks likely we aren't buying anyone else.

2

20 Aug 2026 17:39:21
I judged McConnell from the friendlies because I wanted to be kind and just limit it to that. If I was being honest I would have just said in general I don't think the lad is anywhere near good enough for this club. He's turning 22. Only a few months younger than the likes of Wharton. We need better to replace Jones in my opinion.

On the enjoying part I'm really looking forward to watching us under Ireola. Bournemouth were great to watch 2nd half of last season. I just think we could do more for him. It's going to be hard enough for him having to get used to a European campaign without having to rely on kids.

0

20 Aug 2026 18:28:04
We've had problems with sporting directors since we introduced the concept. If it's an internal appointment replacing Hughes, I wouldn't be particularly confident, as they will probably follow a similar path. I'd prefer an outside appointment to bring fresh ideas and approach.

20 Aug 2026 12:02:48
So Mr Barcola is still a done deal is it? Been a done deal for like what 3 weeks now? Maybe the ITK’s in here can hopefully explain why it’s taking till deadline day to announce this signing. Is he wrapped up in a nice little box in Anfield waiting for deadline day to come so he can burst out of it and surprise the fans? Either way it’s not helping the team is it.

Whilst the other lot up north London are showing us how it’s done.

isn't football meant to be banter and discussion absolutely weirdos man some of you. get a grip!

10

20 Aug 2026 13:52:33
There's a reason there's a deadline, and people need to just chill out a bit. We all know the areas where we need replacement and reinforcements, so just curb the extreme hunger for "shiny new toys right now".

Iraola knows very well what he needs, and he'll make the decisions he needs to. We get so little accurate information as it is, and then to go after those who provide that little information is just either childish or senile.

3

20 Aug 2026 14:01:30
Think about it, guys, if it wasn't for the guys on here and social media, the only thing you'd know is that we spoke to PSG weeks ago, but they wanted too much money so the deal is difficult.

We probably would've forgotten about Barcola by now and be pleasantly surprised when the deal is announced.

It's the need to have blow by blow updates that causes the frustration.

People like VG are good enough to try to fill that void, and give us updates when they get info. They just get constant criticism for it.

Just chill out, the club knows what needs to be done, and I'm sure they are working hard to do it. We all just need to relax and wait for the announcement.

7

20 Aug 2026 14:23:35
I'm frustrated as well but, I think maybe this will go to deadline day in the hope we get the price we want to pay because it's obvious PSG do not want him there.

We probably have the money they want, and if even on deadline day they don't budge, we'll pay it.

2

20 Aug 2026 14:28:55
It's from a place of frustration, not any personal attack. Again, I have never personally attacked any poster on here, let alone the ITKs that dish useful information. As I said, it's frustration. It was not fun going to watch this team play last season, and the team has gotten weaker, so it's frustrating that it could possibly be the same thing.

So, for the other fans in this forum that are quick to dish abuse for any little thing, how about try (I know it may be quite hard for some of you) and have a discussion first, because my posts and venting might not always be right, but if the only way you can reply to it is by abuse, then that says more about you. And to the ITK guys, keep up the good work.

4

20 Aug 2026 14:38:06
@Barilla, with the best will in the world, you have unrealistic expectations.

2

20 Aug 2026 14:52:39
I think you know very well that most have replied to the cynicism and sarcasm in your "question" post, and not really the intent behind it.

2

20 Aug 2026 13:53:24
Nobody needs to explain anything. People are passing on info they hear at that time with good intentions, they certainly don't need to explain themselves to some anonymous bed wetter.

2

20 Aug 2026 14:14:21
Listen here Schrödinger's A**hole, you didn't ask a genuine question, so don't try to play it off like that and act the victim now, at least have the balls to stand by what you say.

Plenty of question marks in your post, OP, but no actual questions, as they are all rhetorical. Plus your tone is that of an impatient teenager who, if he doesn't get his own way, stamps his little feet.

But just for fun:

1. The deal being done is a viewpoint. Some take it as signed, sealed and delivered. Others take it as everything is sorted and just the i's need dotting and t's crossing. It's up to you, which you believe.

2. Stop overexaggerating. I know we live in a world of convenience and instant gratification, but that's not how transfers work in reality, things take time.

3. Another overexaggeration, the deadline is not for another couple of weeks and it won't take till then.

Oh and lastly, who gives a toss what Stoke of the South or the Spurs Circus are up to, unless that's who you actually support.

12

20 Aug 2026 16:34:17
The ITK's have posted multiple updates as to why it's taking as long as it is. There was one very recently from VG. Instead of RTFP (credit to ed02) you have come on not to ask a question (as you put it), but to undermine and belittle what they have provided for us (as it reads to the rest of us).

That may not have been your intention but it's certainly how it comes across.

2

20 Aug 2026 11:24:52
Hi all,

Figured I'd give another update, as I can absolutely understand why impatience is beginning to fester regarding the Barcola deal.

I absolutely thought it'd have been wrapped up by now with a medical completed - as did the player and his camp. However, negotiating the structure of the payments has proved to take a lot longer than expected and is what's causing it to drag out. But there's absolutely zero part of me that doesn't think this deal happens. He will be a Liverpool player, it's just taking its sweet time. It might be closer to deadline day than we previously wanted. Any concern of a hijacking or a collapse is wide of the mark.

Despite reports, I am still very confident about Mbaye. As I mentioned last week, a meeting with his representatives took place with ourselves that ended up being extremely positive. PSG are happy to move him on for the right price and now it's just about negotiating a fee. Similar to Barcola, all parties want it done.

There are rumours of other wide forwards being looked at but I haven't a clue who they are.

As for Wharton, I'm hearing less now than I was earlier in the summer. There's been whispers about a deal being discussed but I am not sure if it has any legs.

Barca are not looking to sell Gavi.

My prediction? Barcola in, Mbaye in, Gakpo out. All reasonably close to deadline day.

20 Aug 2026 11:56:53
Super! Thanks, VG!

6

20 Aug 2026 11:57:08
Cheers Vic, fingers crossed. I would still be slightly concerned with Gakpo leaving even though he's not amazing through the middle, unfortunately he's the best back up option we have currently to Isak until Ekitike is fit, and let's face it we might not see the best version of him this season after that injury.

Maybe he sees Wirtz as an option playing the false 9 (Bobby role), but then I'd worried, do we have wingers who can hit Salah numbers.

Interesting to see how it all plays out anyway. I don't know enough about Mbaye to be honest, maybe he's an option through the middle. Or maybe Koumas has done enough to warrant a chance.

Exciting times anyway! Looking forward to it all!

3

20 Aug 2026 12:02:48
Thanks VG... Just want it all wrapped up now.

3

20 Aug 2026 12:10:01
Cheers VG, agree it's taking its sweet time, but I have total faith in you... Would've just been nice for him to get in a little earlier to help in bed in a bit!

1

20 Aug 2026 12:11:21
Respect VG. 👍

2

20 Aug 2026 12:11:27
Munoz must be considered an option through the middle in that case. With his pace, it could work well. Thanks, VG.

8

20 Aug 2026 12:15:13
Crazy if we go into another season with Endo as our only CDM. We badly need a proper destroyer in midfield, someone who can win the ball without killing our build-up.

6

20 Aug 2026 12:21:30
Thanks Vic.

I can't see how letting Gakpo go makes us better squads weaker now then it was last season when we struggled for 5th.

Ornstein also saying CPFC told City Wharton going nowhere so pretty much like VG says scratch that off.

It interweb is blowing up with bullcrap every 3 hours there's a new Barcola update and personally, I don't think anyone has a clue what's going on there if we are near or far.

Season starts in 2 days, my only hope is we get good health and no injuries to through it.
I'll take top 4 spot now as I don't see anything else as it is with that squad I don't mean to be a neg Nancy but I don't see how any of our problems have been rectified. We are 2/3 injuries from a cluster F***.

8

20 Aug 2026 12:02:19
Have you heard anything about the possibility of Ireola trying to bring Alex Scott in??
Plus I understand Brighton have dropped their asking price for Carlos Baleba as
Man Un-United are said to want him and are looking at a figure closer to £65-£70m than the £100m plus fee previously wanted! Are we interested at all?? YNWA

0

20 Aug 2026 12:24:04
Cheers, VG.

Richard Hughes might as well have had the whole of June, July and half of August off. One release clause and one loan to date.

I hope Amit Bhatia is getting ready to make Campos an offer he can't refuse to be our next SD.

5

20 Aug 2026 12:24:23
Did you miss the bit where we won the league with Grav as DCM?

The lad has proved that he can play the role and play the role very well. His form was poor last season, but that may have been largely due to there being no real plan for the side to follow.

9

20 Aug 2026 12:28:24
We won't bring Alex Scott in, I don't think anyways. I imagine the club are weary of signing Bournemouth players as they often bring inflated prices and can be a gamble. However, there is huge interest in Rayan.

14

20 Aug 2026 12:34:36
Didn't Hughes mess up the Zubimendi transfer by spending weeks trying to negotiate better terms, only for the player to change his mind?

6

20 Aug 2026 12:35:10
Thanks VG.

3

20 Aug 2026 12:37:11
Thanks VG, hope we still get a DM, dare I say, it's more important than an attacker at the moment.

3

WDW, hope that is gaslighting.

1

20 Aug 2026 12:49:40
Thanks VG.

Top post.

3

20 Aug 2026 13:00:07
Thanks, VG, this makes perfect sense regards Barcola. Like many fans, I worry about squad depth. I know we have players coming back soon, but some are coming back from long term injuries. I do worry that all the changes behind the scenes have affected our ability to bring in new players.

Do you think this is the case? Will Iraola be backed further in the final days of the transfer window? Do you think the young players who have been brought into the squad (Nyoni, Ngumoha, McConnell etc) are good enough to step into the first team?

1

20 Aug 2026 13:07:54
Apparently Palace aren't interested in selling Wharton this summer. According to various media sites today.

0

20 Aug 2026 13:15:23
Thank you, VG.

If so, Barcola, Mbaye in.
Jones, Gakpo out.

Will there be no other midfield signings?

0

20 Aug 2026 13:16:37
Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world and financially we are very secure. This means that no matter what, we are a top draw for any player even if we are going through a bit of a rough patch.

Despite the echoes of some internet content creators who like to anger the fan base for clicks, the club are doing a lot of work behind the scenes and I expect a busy end to the window.

As for the youngsters, they're all trusted by the coaching staff and therefore I trust they will perform when needed. Ngumoha, in particular, doesn't need any extra approval. Kid's a superstar in the making, but his minutes will need to be managed of course.

13

20 Aug 2026 13:22:36
Brighton in for Camara apparently.
Does this mean we'll pay Brighton double for him in January? 😂

4

20 Aug 2026 13:27:54
Good man Vic, cheers for info.

2

20 Aug 2026 13:29:19
Thanks VG, I needed reassurance! I don't want us to lose momentum despite last season's snore fest! I'm excited for Iraola's brand of football...

20 Aug 2026 13:34:38
Thanks, VG, I really appreciate your input.

1

20 Aug 2026 13:36:43
I'd say Rayan would be a bigger risk and come with a more inflated fee than Scott.

1

20 Aug 2026 13:26:50
VG,

There's been one or two whispers of Solanke on loan as part of the Gakpo deal with Spurs. Would make a lot of sense as striker cover for a season while Ekitike gets back fit without taking up a foreign player spot in the squad, given he's seemingly falling down the pecking order at Spurs. Don't suppose you've heard anything?

Cheers

1

20 Aug 2026 13:43:48
Keep her lit, VG. I pay absolutely zero attention to the clowns on here selling snake oil. They know who they are. We all know who they are. I know who to trust.

2

20 Aug 2026 14:44:52
Nice one, VG.

1

20 Aug 2026 14:55:42
I've not heard anything regarding Solanke, no.

I can see a move abroad on the cards for him. Spurs want a straight deal for Gakpo but a player + cash has also been discussed.

4

20 Aug 2026 15:08:11
Ok, the obvious question - which player.

0

20 Aug 2026 15:14:26
Not sure what player. I just heard of a player being involved in discussions. Likely some deadwood they're trying to offload.

4

20 Aug 2026 16:28:46
Nice one VG.

4

20 Aug 2026 18:10:30
Nice one, VG, very much appreciated.
Didn't Camara turn down Palace? Hope we are looking at him.

1

20 Aug 2026 19:42:39
VG, you always brighten my day. 🙂

0

20 Aug 2026 19:53:15
Seems our position on Barcola is aligning, VG. I was told, end of last week, we were double dealing for Barcola and Mbaye, but it seems PSG are a nightmare to deal with, and when you think it's done, they change something.

I also understood we've walked away from Mbaye because of the request for ridiculous bonuses and buy back/sell on clauses.

Perhaps the Minteh link is to get PSG to back down.

My worry now is, we're getting desperate, and PSG will know that and will have our pants down the longer it drags on. Barcola may need to force the issue.

Cheers.

DjimiT.
