Juve want Kostas for £4m apparently.
28 Aug 2026 20:11:19
I swear, if this is true, either Italian teams are acting skint when negotiating transfers for our players. Or, they are actually skint and it is not a ploy, at all. 4 million??
28 Aug 2026 20:13:13
Sell sell sell sell sell!!!!
28 Aug 2026 20:15:53
There's maybe a minus 200% chance of this happening.
28 Aug 2026 20:22:33
He is our backup to Kerkez.
28 Aug 2026 20:09:56
The Italians love a cut price bargain. Get rid of all the dross asap. Chiesa, Elliott. Gomez, tsimikas, Alexis
28 Aug 2026 20:19:03
Can we rub your balls and send you some truffles as well
In the deal
28 Aug 2026 21:02:19
Tsimikas and some money for Cambiaso.
28 Aug 2026 21:03:15
Sure, he can't even start for Roma but Juve apparently want him.
28 Aug 2026 21:10:25
I'd sell, Chambers is better.
28 Aug 2026 21:17:22
It's good that Juve have ambition.
I mean, we want Wharton for £5m.
Does that make us more ambitious?
It's funny that the positive stories about us in the clickbait sites seem to get glossed over, and the negative ones lead to much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
It's almost like they are rage baiting us, eh?
28 Aug 2026 21:49:37
Tsimikas is probably better than Kerkez. Headless chicken that boy.
28 Aug 2026 23:03:14
Same thoughts as @Inbeta. Kerkez is garbage, so it was madness to Kostas leave now.
I'd be starting him tomorrow.
28 Aug 2026 23:09:22
Kostas is not at the level we want. At all. However, what will we do without him this season? I'd like to compete on all 4 and it's Kirkez or Chambers for 60 games. Or £4m for Kostas.
Probably euros, not pounds as well. Keep and use as and when, and cringe to say, but he may be our best LB option until Kirkez reforms that partnership with AI and be the player we all wanted.
29 Aug 2026 00:16:18
What I love about our fan base is how all the squad players are called rubbish, until someone puts in a bid, and then outrage ensues because the bid is too low.
£4m is probably about right for a 30-year-old second choice LB, with one year left on his contract, and having played just 2600 minutes in the last 2 years combined (all comps).
Tsimikas is an okay back-up. Nothing more. What kind of fee do we expect?
{Ed666's Note - you make a salient point mate
29 Aug 2026 00:31:13
Been mostly reading the site for many years but posted a few times under different user names as keep forgetting my login details but "Rage bait". What age are you, Zed? I always assumed you were similar to me 50s, but my 13 y/o son and his friends all use that term.
😂 Playing their PlayStation games.
As for Mackenzie Crook, I mean Tzimikas, better to keep as nobody gonna offer much imo.
29 Aug 2026 02:44:38
Yeah, we don't have dross players.
We have players who aren't at the top of their game due to various reasons, but dross is a bit harsh.
Every one of these players has played a positive part while being part of the squad.
It's time they get respect for making it this far and, in some cases, getting to the end of their careers still doing a job for us.
Someone said the other day, "you can't have superstars all over the pitch." We don't see what these boys bring to the training field or the dressing room.
Have a bit of class and show some respect.
29 Aug 2026 04:46:21
A simple smile on the face is worth ten assists on the pitch - Bill Paisley.
29 Aug 2026 05:01:10
Bill Paisley may indeed have said that, but Bob Paisley definitely didn't.
For starters, it is extremely unlikely he would ever have used the word assist, apart from the time he helped an old lady cross the road.
As for Tsimikas, I would drive him to Turin myself, in my blue Mini. Just call it the Italian Job part 2.
29 Aug 2026 05:57:05
On MK's point, PSG sell two reserves for £150m. Our two highest value reserves were Curtis and probably Tzimi. Combined value about £35m. Puts the squads in perspective.
28 Aug 2026 18:34:24
Valencia, Napoli and Lazio are all interested in Harvey Elliott.
28 Aug 2026 19:12:49
Monaco and AC Milan are also interested.
28 Aug 2026 19:34:35
Monaco, you say.
Lamine Camara, you say.
Hmmm, interesting, very interesting proposition indeed.
28 Aug 2026 19:41:45
I didn't think we would add a midfielder this window, but with Elliot also leaving, I think we have too.
28 Aug 2026 19:52:51
Any 5 have a decent RB or DM we can do a swapsie??
28 Aug 2026 17:14:52
Harvey Elliott to leave on loan, without an obligation or option to buy, and join Valencia for the season.
28 Aug 2026 19:02:21
Hmm, so we had no offers for him that he was interested in?
28 Aug 2026 19:10:55
He's out of contract next summer, so we are moving him on for free then, like Ramsay.
28 Aug 2026 19:11:30
Glad he is getting a move and hopefully get him game time.
Get him playing and get him in the shop window for clubs for next window.
28 Aug 2026 19:14:24
There's been another feck up.
28 Aug 2026 19:28:35
(Follow up) Hmm, can't see anywhere that we have agreed a loan without an obligation. A lot of sources (including the infallible Mr Romano) are stating that he prefers Valencia, but that a club to club agreement hasn't been finalised yet - the sources are The Standard, Yahoo Sports and a few others.
So, before we go calling the STC all sorts of names (like the STC!), let's wait to see what the deal is.
In the last year of his contract, coming back a bit unfit, I'd take £10-£20m in some shape or form (straight sale, loan with obligation plus a loan fee etc).
One bit of shenanigans that has shocked me is Martinez moving to Chelsea for less money than the starting offer from Juventus, and with 3 years left on his AV contract. Smells pretty fishy to me.
28 Aug 2026 19:38:05
The way transfers and contracts have been handled since Edwards took
over has been incredibly disparate and messy. Admittedly, the issues were bubbling away once Jurgen said he was leaving, but for an organisation who see themselves as captains of industry, it has been a
monumental pile of man milk.
28 Aug 2026 20:02:04
As uncomfortable as it feels typing it, modern football feels like it is just a huge money laundering tool.
28 Aug 2026 20:36:59
Can't be a loan, we just got 35 million EUR for Jones who is 3 years older and was also on his last year. 20-25 million EUR minimum imo.
28 Aug 2026 20:37:36
There's talk of Mbaye medical tom at Villa! I guess, we're still ironing out details for Barcola after 8 weeks. Lol.
28 Aug 2026 21:19:09
Funny, there were equally a sheep-ton of clickbait sites reporting the deal was done for Barcola and a medical booked for, hmm, around 8-12 weeks.
Depends what you want to believe, as no one knows for sure.
28 Aug 2026 21:31:56
Not sure there were! It was mostly ITKs here who had said that while the mainstream media was saying quite the opposite, i.e. big gap in valuation etc etc.
28 Aug 2026 21:35:49
Before anyone starts, that's not a dig at the ITKs, who are greatly appreciated.
28 Aug 2026 21:58:14
There actually were.
He was almost done (per the sites) for weeks.
28 Aug 2026 22:56:43
Fair enough. If so, I stand corrected.
29 Aug 2026 01:18:07
Had a good old chuckle to the suggestion that a club would loan Harvey Elliott with an obligation to buy him... his contract runs out in 12 months, why would anyone pay for him then!
Anyway, another player effectively leaving on a free to add to Ibou, Mo, Robbo and TAA in just the last 14 months.
Not to mention Ali and VVD will probably go too next summer. The running of the club has been absolutely diabolical over the last 4-5 seasons, complete and utter s*** show.
29 Aug 2026 06:05:49
They reckon at least 30% of the flow though in London is washed money, so some will end up in sports. The goings on we see with football deals are as much about PSR avoidance, I'd imagine, tax planning, and sports washing.
28 Aug 2026 16:16:36
Sorry, last post should have said Euros not pounds. Even worse, surely we could have afforded that.
28 Aug 2026 16:48:12
If we wanted him, we would have paid up. Simple as. The club sees Minteh/Sarr as a better fit for Iraola's system and I agree with them.
28 Aug 2026 17:00:20
So, get rid of 29yr old Diaz, proven player, and sign 28/29yr old Sarr is good business or a highly rated teen who's not classed home grown isn't ??
28 Aug 2026 17:06:52
I agree, Jay Dub, but it's all on wages. Diaz wanted 300k plus, Sarr will be 100k or less. That's why.
28 Aug 2026 17:09:44
We didn't get rid of Diaz. He wanted to leave. Why would we give a new contract to a player who'd already told us he wanted to leave? And why would he sign it?
28 Aug 2026 17:12:44
Jay, Sarr might be a downgrade on Diaz at the same age but the difference is Diaz didn't want to play for us anymore and was trying to find a way out so sell or let him go a season later on a free.
Honest question, would you take Sarr now and have a right winger or go without?
28 Aug 2026 17:19:00
How is Diaz 29 but Sarr 28/29? He's 28. The hoops people will jump through to try to prove a point are hilarious.
28 Aug 2026 17:19:19
Diaz didn't want to leave, he wanted wages that reflected his performance / impact since joining. The guy was on 75k a week, or 90k if other reports are to be believed. He had earned a higher wage, and we didn't give it to him as we didn't think he was worth it, so instead took the money Bayern offered.
I don't know if he wanted 300k a week. I have never seen that sum before, and might have very well been pulled out of thin air, but I wouldn't blame him for wanting more. Sarr is going to cost us at least 60 million, plus whatever wages he will demand moving to a top club.
Seems like quite the mess.
28 Aug 2026 17:20:57
@Jay dub red, Sarr is better than Mbaye right now. There's no guarantee that Mbaye ever lives up to his potential. You really want to have an 18 year old boy be our starting rw? If he was as good as Yamal then sure, but he's not.
28 Aug 2026 17:22:18
Jay Dub Red
Diaz wanted to leave.
But, keeping with the illogical nature of our transfer business, or lack of it, .... If Mbaye is going to Aston Villa for 55 million Euros, then what the hell did we actually rate/assess his value/worth at?
I wonder if it was another case of let's inquire, show some heart-hearted piss-poor interest, but actually have no real intention of buying the player ...
Who, if anyone, will we get - roll on September 2nd so this s*** -show of a not so funny comedy can be over (till January).
The owners must really think Areola is a miracle worker, or just the next scapegoat.
28 Aug 2026 17:30:21
No Mango, Diaz wanted to leave which is why he wasn't offered improved terms. We all knew he wanted to leave the summer before he actually did. His dad was flirting with Barca and Madrid. He gave us Slot's first season, and then we allowed him to leave. If it happened the way you said, then yes, it would've been crazy, but it didn't.
28 Aug 2026 17:32:33
Simple Sarr is better now and Sarr starts for Senegal over Mbaye everyday.
28 Aug 2026 17:34:17
This has probably been covered, but will Sarr not be heading to AFCON in winter time? I have no idea when it is, so just a simple question.
28 Aug 2026 17:35:34
He and his dad made no secret that he would move to Barcelona if the opportunity came along.
His contract had reached the final two years. He felt he should be paid to match his performance levels in order to commit to a new deal. He had a case as he was our second best performer that season after Mo Salah.
We decided that we didn't even want to negotiate and sold him to whoever matched our valuation. Bayern did. End of.
Depending on which way you look at it, you could interpret that as someone who engineered his way out for better pay, or our bean counters felt it was the right time to cash in on the asset.
Maybe they thought they would have been able to bring Barcola in last summer for the same price that Diaz left for.
Personally, I would have kept him even if it meant his deal would run down. Like Virgil, he's a late bloomer in football, so he probably has a few years left in the tank yet.
Would he have downed tools in his final years? Nobody knows.
Btw, Macca is now in a similar situation. By the same logic as last summer, we should sell him.
28 Aug 2026 17:37:21
Ismael Sarr really isn't a winger. His assist record is average at best.
If he's an interim backup for Isak while Hugo recovers, fair enough. But at that price, seems unlikely.
He is not the right winger to serve our no9 and 10s.
28 Aug 2026 18:07:40
Even age wise, you would not do it, Sarr, 29 next February, has played his best football, Mbaye's (18) is yet to come.
Common sense alone tells you the best option? Youth.
28 Aug 2026 18:08:00
I still suspect that Rayan is the ultimate RW target, be it for January or next summer. If Sarr is the bridge signing to tide us over in the meantime, I'm okay with it.
28 Aug 2026 18:25:52
Bit of revisionist history here... Pretty sure Diaz wanted to stay but we couldn't agree on salary because of his age. Who knows, maybe it was a bit of both - but the only people that know that are Edwards, Hughes, Diaz, and his agent.
28 Aug 2026 18:25:55
@gojonesgo,
So Sarr (28) to Rayan (19) is better, than Mbaye (18) and Rayan (19) long term for the club?
One senses a hiccup in the Barcola deal, it's gone too quiet?
28 Aug 2026 18:35:20
Spot on. We need experience.
28 Aug 2026 18:50:49
No Sarr in the Palace team tonight.
28 Aug 2026 18:51:19
Going for Sarr is stupid. Firstly it involves negotiating with Parish who we all know is a capricious bellend and impossible to negotiate with at this time of the window, even more daft given that we know what price PSG will sell mbaye at, additionally Mbaye won't count as non home grown whereas Sarr is another waste of a non home grown space gone.
I'd also add that it's entirely possible they mbaye would eventually qualify as home grown given his age which would make him a shrewd long term investment.
28 Aug 2026 19:05:46
@007,
All else being equal, no, I'd rather we ended up with Mbaye and Rayan. There are always multiple variables at play though, aren't there?
Perhaps it's a wages thing. Or perhaps it's not wanting to invest large sums in two very young RWs at similar stages in their development, when we can eventually sign the one we really want for the future, and pair him for a season or two with a more experienced player who's not on a long term contract.
28 Aug 2026 19:46:17
Sarr is a bum steer - there's no way we are after him. He's overpriced, average and Palace are shysters to deal with.
Something is coming straight out of the left field.
28 Aug 2026 19:46:34
Sarr is injured, that's why he isn't playing.
28 Aug 2026 21:42:08
AFCON moves to summer
28 Aug 2026 23:28:28
PSG didn't want to sell 2 players to the same club. They didn't quote us the same fee they quoted Villa for Mbaye. It's as simple as that. They wanted EUR70m from us compared to Villa (EUR55m).
29 Aug 2026 02:52:43
Diaz wanted to leave. How many times did his dad go on record saying that Barcelona was his dream club and he hopes he'd play there some day. In fact, he said that almost immediately after he was rescued from his kidnapping, where we stood by Diaz and his family and offered our support. They essentially spat in our face after that.
Iirc, there was a contract offer with higher wages on the table for Diaz but he still chose to leave.
We always say that once a player has two years left on their contract, we should start negotiations with them and if they don't want to sign, we should sell. That's what essentially happened with Diaz and people are still complaining about it. It's really a situation of damned if we do and damned if we don't.
29 Aug 2026 06:13:38
Sarr will probably conclude the business for the summer at around £70m.
Although it's felt like a poor window, if we sign him, and Barcola, and sell Gakpo, our net spend will still be over £100m.
That's a big outlay, but strangely not enough.
28 Aug 2026 16:15:18
Wow, Ormstein reporting Aston Villa have agreed a fee of £55million with PSG for Mbaye. Didn't see us being gunzumped by Villa.
28 Aug 2026 16:46:36
Think it is 55m euros.
At least we know the price now. If we want him, we should step in.
28 Aug 2026 16:48:40
By all accounts, we walked away from Mbaye weeks ago. How were we gazumped?
28 Aug 2026 16:49:10
Wondering if we were gazumped or just didn't make an offer in the end.
28 Aug 2026 16:51:48
Obviously, unfortunately we must be looking at Sarr or the one from Brighton, rather have Mbaye, but that's the club's choice.
28 Aug 2026 16:53:47
Mates rates between the owners.
28 Aug 2026 16:54:22
EUR55m for a player with 33 senior appearances and 4 goals to his name in a second tier European league. It's an easy pass that one for me TBH, Villa are welcome to him.
28 Aug 2026 16:58:01
Hi all,
The latest thing I got is Mbaye still prefers to play at Anfield over Villa. We'll see about it.
The club is not yet done with the transfers.
Make of it what you like.
28 Aug 2026 17:05:28
If we don't go back to PSG and agree a deal for Mbaye, does that mean we are negotiating something bigger for a proven star (not Sarr or Minteh)?
Maybe just wishful thinking on my behalf.
28 Aug 2026 17:10:08
Yeh we're getting Yamal. 👌
28 Aug 2026 17:20:33
Not sure if true, but apparently PSG didn't want to sell multiple players to the same club in the same window.
28 Aug 2026 17:34:12
It's clear, if we wanted Mbaye we would have signed him. Villa paid the price we didn't want, and that's fine by me.
As much as I want our RW saga to be over, you'd have to admit that Mbaye is a young option with limited experience, and, akin to our Rio, I would argue that we need more experience for our starting 11 and should be looking at players in their early to mid 20s.
28 Aug 2026 17:34:27
If I can remember, PSG would have accepted a deal for around EUR45m from the German clubs, but included a buyback fee if he does well. We didn't want that buyback clause in a deal, so I guess rightly so PSG demanded a higher fee, because they would lose control of a player of huge potential.
Be interesting to see what Villa's deal is? Is it effectively a round about loan if he does well.
28 Aug 2026 17:37:40
I think we wanted buy one, get one free, but Richard Hughes forgot to send PSG his transfer clubcard to get the deal. He did manage to get 4 litres of Dr Pepper Zero and an 18-pack of Beef Monster Munch, though.
28 Aug 2026 17:37:56
Crazy savings.
28 Aug 2026 18:04:58
Move on. There's always others. I knew as much about Mbyae a month ago as I do now. Flavour of the month and all that. TF, I think, posted there was no interest in him. Regardless. We require a right winger and perhaps they're going all in on Rayan. They should.
28 Aug 2026 18:19:06
I know he's young - but Mbaye has a lot of potential (more than Rio in my opinion).
28 Aug 2026 18:40:23
Says £47m. If he was second choice to Diomande on the list to replace Salah, we should've bought him for Iraola.
He can't go into a season with no right winger, his entire teams are built around wingers!
28 Aug 2026 18:55:29
If we wanted Mbaye and valued him at the asking price he would
be ours, which suggests that we've moved on.
People are sleeping on Munoz who is going to make himself a starter, and before anyone says he's a lefty, he looked good on Sunday from the right. LFC don't rush targets, they wait for the desired quality regardless of the value.
Mbaye's price was seen as excessive
for a
player with 33 starts.
I still
think Minteh will happen and that he will
be a resounding success as he will work
for the others and bring the best of our other forwards.
28 Aug 2026 19:21:37
We are rapidly running out of time, so someone needs to get their fingers out of their arses.
28 Aug 2026 21:06:46
Well, if we start negotiating for someone now, we should be able to get it over the line before the end of the January window!
{Ed025's Note - nice one Kenny..
28 Aug 2026 16:14:50
Villa advanced with Mbaye.
28 Aug 2026 17:10:05
Apparently, Mbaye wants us, but PSG are refusing to deal with us for less than 60/65 million, as we got Barcola cheaper than what they wanted, so they are prepared to let him go for less. As before we entered the race for him, Leverkusen had a bid of close to 50 million accepted, then we came in & PSG said it's now 60+
28 Aug 2026 13:21:59
Hi folks.
I've been trying to get an update on my striker loan information from late last night but things are not moving quickly. However, I do have a small update. It's outright comical and embarrassing the state of affairs currently and the club have made a rod for their own back in terms of trying to salvage the window/squad for the following reason:
Liverpool were actively contacting known agents/good relations to scramble a right winger together (as Mbaye is considered too expensive) which has meant every agent and their granny have been trying to approach Liverpool with their clients (players), causing more disruption.
Everyone feels like they can make a quick buck off us due to the desperation. The Sarr (Palace) price quoted was a pi$$ take, but then again it is late in the window. It's how Camara (Monaco) was offered to us as well.
So, another name I was given - Mika Biereth (Monaco) was offered by his agent and was considered by Liverpool as striker cover, particularly useful as counts as homegrown, but Monaco will only deal with a permanent transfer and even then it's a bit late. Has the same agent as Elliott and it was thought a deal could be done. However, as Liverpool would prefer a loan, it hasn't been pursued.
If I hear anything else I'll share.
28 Aug 2026 15:51:04
I'm hoping your source is the club's barista. Apparently, that's where all the good tea is.
28 Aug 2026 16:11:43
Mbaye is expensive at £60m, yet we bid £70m for Minteh. Right, ok.
28 Aug 2026 16:16:59
Villa have agreed 50m with PSG for Mbaye, so too expensive is utter rubbish.
{Ed666's Note - surely we have someone lined up for the right wing? Sarr?
28 Aug 2026 16:36:42
What an absolute mess. A player who's needed in our team is going to a rival, whilst we faff about trying to sign an injured player. Guys, expect some pain this year. Slot lost the plot, but was it down to these clowns who gave him a very unbalanced squad?
28 Aug 2026 16:37:43
@Big Hair Ape, Minteh is a better player than Mbaye and has Premier League experience. Mbaye may have a higher ceiling, but who knows.
@Dougie, Liverpool considered him too expensive at the price PSG wanted, and that's all there is to it. If Villa want to pay it, that's up to them.
28 Aug 2026 16:46:32
@Dougie_Do_ins, You do know that PSG quoted us 70m for Mbaye right? There's some shenanigans going on. In any case, I'm glad we didn't do the deal. Very much prefer Minteh or Sarr over "potential".
28 Aug 2026 17:47:40
Like I care. You either want the player or you don’t. If £20m really going to make all the difference, then Liverpool's problem is they haven’t moved enough players out. Elliott, Chiesa, Endo, Gakpo, McAllister will all need to be moved on to bring replacements in. If they want a RW then sell Rio as well, he'll want to play and will only be disruptive if he doesn't get a start.
There was a war chest to be raised but they are in total chaos behind the scenes, and that's on the ownership allowing idiots to remain in post when they have no interest in the outcomes as they are leaving anyway. Shambolic.
28 Aug 2026 18:02:26
Minteh will.
Shock.
People, if he signs - he is so well suited.
To Andonis game.
Clowner talking Truth.
28 Aug 2026 18:05:30
Rayan.
28 Aug 2026 18:14:22
Any of Sarr, Minteh, or Rayan would be good. Minteh being injured is less appealing, as we need players to come straight in and make a difference now. Rio isn't going to do what's required from right wing, so we need another RW in this window.
28 Aug 2026 18:53:21
Well, if you're stupid enough to leave your business until the end of the window, then you should expect prices to soar. Eff around and find out. Moronic stuff from the so called smartest people in the room.
28 Aug 2026 12:30:14
Romano reporting Chelsea met with Monaco yesterday to discuss Camara.
Any update VG? Really want this one to happen, he's exactly what we need.
28 Aug 2026 13:03:45
I think VG suggested it was Monaco trying to create an auction rather than getting screwed on price at the end of the window.
28 Aug 2026 13:27:46
We don't really need Camara, we just need better positioning of our double pivots. Prime Macca, Szobo, Grav, Nyoni and a floating Jacquet are one of the best mids in EPL. And we wanna let Nyoni develop, no?
28 Aug 2026 13:31:40
Of course we need a good all round MF since we will
lose Jones, Endo, Elliott and hopefully Macca.

If we're not giving much thought to Romano when it comes to Liverpool news, should we also not give him much thought when sharing Chelsea news!?
Anyways, I still think the fix for some of our midfield is simple. But it may take time as it requires multiple players being on same page.
1-Grav, Dom and Flo need to sacrifice at certain points to allow the others to thrive up the pitch.
2-fullbacks need to switch on to cover central areas when CMs have pushed up.
3- If the gap remains in midfield, CBs need to be higher and quicker to close the gap and stop a counter before it develops.

I'd say we need Camara.
I'd also say we need better positioning as well. Both things are true at the same time.
Camara to replace Jones and Macca, I'd say.
Camara gives us a good rotation option with Grav, especially I'd say. Grav certainly needs someone breathing down his neck in the pecking order to keep him sharp and back to his best.
28 Aug 2026 14:24:45
We need a combative midfielder for sure. I still don't see how a Grav Szobo midfield holds up against the big boys, especially when they often play a three.
28 Aug 2026 14:48:00
Haissem, what's a "floating Jacquet"?
Something a ghost wears?
28 Aug 2026 14:48:20
Agree with Mikey. A decent combative DM/CM will make it a bit better. A decent and efficient system will make it a bit better. Having both will make it much better.

Redman, they hold up provided they can be coached into the way Iraola wants to play his double pivot. We can debate which players should play in it, however, that is how Iraola sees things.
How do we know? We know Tyler Adams and Christie in a double pivot at B'mouth went unbeaten in the final 17 games, where they smoked Arsenal, City & our beloved LFC, you know, the big boys you are referring to?
I say the above because Iraola never played a DM at B'mouth, so why would he do play one now, whereas in the system he used successfully over there, it worked and B'mouth were very great defensively and this, without a DM.
Therefore if a DM comes in? Great. However, making it look like it is the be all and end all is just myopic, cos for the second goal there are enuff players back to stop Wissa and not a soul even engages with him, and that included VVD. That is the issue Iraola is referring to at a basic level.
A DM acting in the same way won't fix that.
Solution? We need these mids to be dawgs with steel, grit and desire defensively first, just like Millie, Hendo, Gini were with Fab in the team.
28 Aug 2026 15:02:04
Not too many "dawgs" in Liverpool's midfield, so it can be debated if we need Camara or not, but for me we definitely need 2 midfielders in my opinion.
28 Aug 2026 16:03:05
The midfield, whilst I agree, could do with some reinforcements. If this doesn't happen (likely), they need to get some bite and stop playing like it's a non contact sport. Get stuck in, not like the old days, but let teams know we won't be bullied as currently we get out muscled on nearly every challenge and look weak. Also surely if 1 goes one stays basic here, just to give a bit of cover to the 2 centre halves so maybe just maybe a little communication goes a long way, currently the squad is like watching 8 year olds getting excited and all wanting to score! If AI sorts this out then it's think we'll be fine - not great but at least manage to not completely throw away the season and have something to build on for next season when hopefully the recruitment stops being so what would appear damn disorganised.
28 Aug 2026 17:38:45
Tyler Adams is a defensive midfielder, imo.
28 Aug 2026 18:39:50
Anything in midfield will help to stop exposing the defence, as we do. Far too many tarts, but haven't necessarily been managed as they should.
28 Aug 2026 20:13:21
Rigsy, Leeds Utd bought Adams as the replacement for Kalvin Phillips. So I agree he's a dm.
28 Aug 2026 21:38:53
People need to stop saying double pivot. Makes me feel sick. Its 2 centre mids, one sits one goes, dead easy. Double pivot hahahahaha
28 Aug 2026 22:46:43
Just modern jargon, so the cool kids can be 'special'.
28 Aug 2026 12:26:15
Surely the Trent return that seems to be on a lot of media outlets is untrue? I would take him back, but I'm not sure we would be interested. Anyone know if this is true?
28 Aug 2026 12:57:51
It would kill me to take him back, but his ball progression is a serious cheat code. I took it for granted tbh. VVD is the only ball playing defender we have (although Jacquet looked very comfortable on the ball in both of his games).
28 Aug 2026 12:58:55
Real have 2 RBs. If somebody can explain to me why they would be willing to lend us 1, I'll gladly entertain it, but until then, it's utter nonsense.
He did an interview recently in which he was asked about how he dealt with the animosity from Liverpool fans when he left, which sparked a whole load of nonsense conspiracy theories about him returning to Anfield, then, Dumfries started ahead of him last week, furthering speculation.
28 Aug 2026 13:00:34
It won't happen but it makes for a fancy click bait title.
28 Aug 2026 13:17:13
Can't see that happening. Be up for a swap with Frimpong though.
28 Aug 2026 13:32:55
I'd take him back. We'd solve fullback and CDM at the same time.
28 Aug 2026 13:50:56
We have 4 players who can play rb, not including Szob, so can't see the club buying one.
28 Aug 2026 14:03:17
He made his bed. I don't care how much better he is than Frimpong, both are s**** defenders. Nvr want to see him near the club again!!! Never forget "he left to win the Balon Dor".
28 Aug 2026 14:05:14
Are you counting yourself, FW? At least you didn't include to a high level, then the answer is much nearer zero.
28 Aug 2026 14:12:55
Trent wasn't that good at defending at right back, not shockingly bad, but not that good!
The whole system was designed to get the best out of him.
They do say absence makes the heart grow fonder!
28 Aug 2026 14:54:41
Indeed, Hoof it. Also had our rb situation been sorted, no one's talking about Trent.
It isn't so nostalgia kicks in wanting a rb that many of these people slated back then, to come back remembering how "good" he was.
Never let nostalgia trick your brain into believing stuff that never happened.
28 Aug 2026 14:46:44
I'd take Trent back on a free and we write off whatever is left of the 10m they sent us in the end. He comes out and admits what a huge mistake he made humble pie humble pie humble pie apology. I'd also take him back as a loan where we only pay his wage.
I'm aware he's not available on a free but might be on a loan. But they are the only circumstances I'd take him back, Madrid didn't like him enough to pay market value for him and neither do I, nor should anyone at LFC imo.
28 Aug 2026 17:38:20
Funky 061 Vvd's days as a ball playing centre back ended like two seasons ago, nowadays he's too scared, only see him hoofing balls these days.
