Stewart was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Bloomfield Road, when it was officially opened by former Blackpool player Jimmy Armfield in April 2006. Organised by the Blackpool Supporters Association, Blackpool fans around the world voted on their all-time heroes. Five players from each decade are inducted; Stewart is in the 1980s. {ed's note - really? Seriously, he was voted an all-time hero? Sure it was the same Paul Stewart who stank up Anfield?}

Unfortunaly ed this is true. . . this just shows how far Blackpool have come! ! ! {ed's note - I am in complete shock! How poor must Blackpool have been in the 80s?}

Liverpools Worst Premier league team ever:

Pegguy Arphexad
Kromkamp Kvarme Babb Traore

Dundee Voronin

Manager: Souness

What do you think ed? Premier league winning potential? {ed's note - where is Paul Stewart? He would walk into any worst team in the world!}

Hey Ed. I was just doing a bit of research on English wingers and while I know he has had a mixed reception on this site, I am starting to become a believer that Ashley Young could be the answer for us. My main reasoning is the almost alarming amount of similarities I found between him and Kop Legend John Barnes. The first ones that come to mind are obviously the position and style of play. Both with tremendous pace and excellent crossers of the ball. Both two footed. Both established themselves at Watford. And funnily enough, Ashley Young's father is Jamaican. So is it coincidence or is Ashley Young meant to be our number 7? Tell me what you think? {ed's note - I don't think Young is even close to being a new Barnes, I think he is very average myself.}
But that has been Young under MON who played very negative football with a lot of long balls to John Carew and Heskey. Honestly for the amount of quality wingers Villa had in their side with Milner, Young, Downing, Agbonalor(RM or St), and now Albrighton, it seems amazing to me that MON played that way. I think Young would be a different player in a side playing good football. {ed's note - it is always possible I agree, but I have just seen him go missing too many times. As soon as he gets hit with a hard challenge his bottle goes, he is not going to fight for the team.}

Reina turned down ARSEnal at the beginning of the season because there was some optimism (its true) after the Cole signing things looked a little brighter, i don't think Pepe will go! He is doing a Rooney (PRICK) on lesser scale. He wants to see progress but don't we all?

Reina is going nowhere so forget that one. He has a 6 yr contract. NESV will make him sit it out if he starts making waves. Do you think Pepe is going to be happy training with the reserves for 5 more years? So relax! He's staying. It's clear muck-raking by gutter press.

Unfortunately mate he has a buy out clause of £20m so it's not all plane sailing. We just have to hope that he can start to see some real progress and ambition from the team and owners

He has no buy out clause in his contract, do you really think Liverpool would allow this, and if they were that stupid then it would be at least 50mill to put other clubs off. He happily signed a 6 year contract last spring so why would he look for a buy out clause.

Hulk of Porto - Has scored 34 goals in 89 games .

Maybe Damien Comolli would be better taking a look at 'El Tigre' - 24 years of age , 2 footed with pace and plays intensity - could become a real hero up front with Torres ?

It would be nice to think we could buy a player of Torres's quality to partner him

There is no one out there of torres's quality!

ok falcoa scores more but hulk still scores goals but falcoas goals wouldn't be there if hulk wasnt there to hulk smash the defences ha , , and that's what torres needs a partner who can break the defence up and is big and strong and he certainly is that, , ,

30 million for Ashley Young?
10 million for Roque Santa Cruz?
7 million for SWP?
7 million for Krancjar?

You're not Rick Parry are you? Have you ever considered a career as a football agent?
NESV will not sanction a transfer for an injury prone 26yr old striker on big wages with no resale value and they certainly won't pay 10 million, plus Citeh don't sell to rivals. Same goes for SWP.
Young would not cost 30 million, try halving it.

nico kranjcar will also sign for liverpool for £7m-£9m

SWP is also an option depending on what the new owners give roy plus money from player sales.

That doesn't make any sense - on his day Babel is better than Young and, frankly, Babel is shocking.
Then, according to you, we spend £17m on two inconsistent 30-somethings to cover our two most significant problem positions.
Your post doesn't even qualify as a rumour - NESV have said players aged 30+ are a no go and your signings aren't exactly straight out of the womb.

For those debating the ability to redevelop Anfield - virtually all of the land behind the Main Stand has now been cleared. The club also own the land at the back of the Anfield Road Stand as well although development this side could be restricted by the road itself. There is easily enough space to develop Anfield to a comfortable 60,000 plus stadium. However, the Main Stand would have to be demolshed completely to allow this which would massively cut capacity and revenue for at least 2 seasons. Financially this could stillbe the better option overall but I personally would prefer a new stadium .

Liverpool are rumoured to be interested in snapping up ex-Barca winger Gai Assulin who is currently without a club since leaving Barca in the summer.

The player has previously trained with Manchester City and attracted interest from Arsenal.

Given Liverpool's focus on bringing in young talent with future potential and resale value, a move for Assulin seems good business sense and looks likely to be Damien Comolli's first signing at the club.

Also how much would it cost to bring back Adam Hammill? a local lad scoring for fun at the momment. {ed's note - good player, but, like you said, no chance of getting him. Hammill wouldn't cost that much, probably under 5m I would think, Barnsley are not exactly cash-rich, they wouldn't be able to afford to reject that kind of money.}

OK, so if we redevelop Anfield, what sort of capacity will we be looking at once finished? {ed's note - that will depend, there is no actual limit as such, you can always go back and redevelop a stand again later to increase it yet again. It will come down to how much space we have.}

That's exactly the point. The level of redevelopment possible at Anfield is restricted to the land available. Have the club not spent the last however many years trying to secure the land around the stadium to allow redevelopment? If they haven't managed it by now, why do people think they will suddenly be able to? {ed's note - the hold up was two elderly sisters who refused to sell, they were the only house in an entire street that didn't belong to the club. I believe they have since passed away and Liverpool FC acquired that house as well. So that would remove one major obstacle to redevelopment.}

Lads, the capacity of any redevelopment is restricted by the lack of transport infrastructure in north Liverpool. The current permission only alows for a 60,000 stadium, with the stadium 'shell' is designed to accommodate 72,000 if the transport system can be improved (such as park and ride systems) i.e an additional 12,000 seats could be incorporated within the current design. (You will notice on the current plans that one stand behind the goal is not filled with seats). The club are currently struggling to provide the infrastructure required for 72,000, therefore any capacity of 85,000 as some seem to be suggesting is not feasible. Land is not the stumbling block.

Hulk

make a good partnership heres a crazy idea buy both

remember i am only saying i wouldn't but sell torres

got a ready made partenership

seriously though people are saying now about falcoa (good player) but i think the hulk as everything he makes alot of space for falcoa with his strength and running of the ball

imagine what space the hulk would make for torres i think it would be potentially a very very explosive combination and prem defenders would be scared

100% we have made contact over ashley young and villa responded saying he would cost in the regions of 20-25 million in january. Waste in my opinion. Also i know " Safe " who is Carlton Cole's Agent and he isn't going to move to Liverpool as there has been huge negativity about the possible move this is the same with Shaun Wright Phillips Safe is good friends with shaun and he is Kolo toure's agent. Liverpool are looking to buy players of competence and solid structure. All of you thinking Liverpool will buy players from other leagues can stop right there as they looking for younger players WITH premiership experience. Charles N'Zogbia wants to move to liverpool. Not the biggest name, however, believes that thes Frenchman may well be Liverpool's bound out of practical need.

Liverpool are in desperate need of one winger. Charles N'Zogbia's desire to to play for a bigger club has made the news for quite sometime. The moody so and so wants out of wigan.

I don't think nzogbia is too bad at all , seems to keep scoring lately , some cracking goals as well , would be a good young winger , the only reason he is moody at wigan is cause there crap and he wants a move to a bigger team , if he was at liverpool then he could perform week in week out. but i definatly think we need two wingers in january and a striker . people say alexis sanchez is going to cost £25m? but surely if he says to the manager and board that he doesn't want to be there no more and somebody puts in a bid of say , £15m - £18m they wouldn't say no , cause they are a mid table team in serie a and not doing that great, why would you keep a player who doesn't want to play?. what you think ed? i know manks would probably be interested especially if that old scottish git knew we were going for him. {ed's note - I would defo like to see us go for Sanchez, he is top class, but not N'Zogbia, he has a very poor attitude.}

Ed, what do you think our chances of getting Bastian Schweinsteiger are? He would finally replace Xabi, and you never know, Jack Wolfskin could help fund the deal as they might want a big German player in the Premier League. NESV would also want it as it could also increase shirt sales in Germany.

His contract runs out in the summer so maybe we could get him for £10m. Or maybe a £30m bid for Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller? {ed's note - I think that is wishful thinking mate, we might be better off hoping he goes to Real Madrid so we could get Xabi back.}

On last Sundays performance:

Reina: Solid as always
Kelly: Really starting to show why he should be number 1 right back for us
Carra: Solid. Good influence for Kelly
Skrtel: Played well. Still would like to see agger start
Konchesky: One of his better games
Meirales: Put in very good shift
Gerrard: Great as always. Shows why he should have the freedom
Rodriguez: One of his better games
Lucas: Really developing played very well.
Kuyt: ran his socks off. Helped Torres when we was going forward.
Torres: Strated to look more like his old self.

Falcoa of Porto - Has scored 46 goals in 59 games .

Hulk of Porto - Has scored 34 goals in 89 games .

Maybe Damien Comolli would be better taking a look at 'El Tigre' - 24 years of age , 2 footed with pace and plays intensity - could become a real hero up front with Torres ?

It would be nice to think we could buy a player of Torres's quality to partner him .

Can everyone stop saying that we should buy SWP, Niko Kranjčar, Wayne Bridge and Santa Cruz. THey cantget into the 1st team of their clubs who we are supposed to be competing against, so why should they get into our team.

Also, please don't say they will improve the Squad! We need more player to play for the first team! not improve the squad.
We need to think will this player get into Chelski's, Arsenal's or Manure's team. They are who our Club should be competing with!

Comolli's report there is a load of rubbish, it is basically what any fan who has watched the club on a regular basis would tell you. The problems with the Liverpool players are not secret or hidden, they are obvious and at times blinding, the main problem is what to do with them.
Personally i believe that signing the following players would aid the team:
Taiwo (Lyon/ Marseille?)
Ireland (Villa)
Hangeland (Fulham)
Bojan (Barca)
Andy Carrol (Newcastle)
Stephen Taylor (Newcastle)

I believe this would add the correct balance, with a strong front man to play with Torres and another forward to rely on for goals in Bojan. Ireland would bolster the attacking side of the centre mid. Taiwo obvious improvement at left back. Stephen Taylor at Right Back and can fill in in centre. Hangeland is a good back up centre back. Surely good moves, which could be funded by the sale of:
Babel
Aquilani
Pachecho
Jovanovic
Aurelio or Insua
David Ngog or No go as i like

With an added kitty from our new owners?
Would like to know what editor thinks of this? ? {ed's note - I think Steven Taylor is not even remotely close to being good enough. We don't need Hangeland or Ireland, Carroll is not fit to wear the shirt, he is not even fit to clean the boots.}

Tazz YNWA {ed's note - I have never rated Johnson, not since he was an embarrassingly bad centre half playing for West Ham's kids. Ed, that responce disnt answer my questions about Llorente and you mension madrid and barca with messi and ronaldo but they are attacking mids or wingers like mata and honda which i suggested but not out and out striters like Llorente who you suggested of which madrid play one hiquin, barce play villa, chelsea play drogba, arsenal chamakh. united only played one until recently and now they play 2, do you fancy them v barce, madrid or chelsea?i dont! ! ! spending all our money on Llorente leaves our squad and stafting 11 with too many average players. we could buy and play him forcing us to choose between meireles and lucas+ leaving no room for shelvey at all and play with 2 really poor wingers or the alternative play lucas, meireles and a pair of top wingers and leaving room for shelvey. im all for results and you want good football but the way i see it my way will deliver far more of both. sorry for slating you ed p.s. what does "IMO" mean? {ed's note - Ronaldo plays as a striker, not as a winger, Messi doesn't play as a winger either. Chelsea usually play Drogba and Anelka in the same way, they play them in the same way Arsenal used to play Henry, he was an out and out striker who drifted wide. IMO = in my opinion.}

This just shows the minefield and dangers in trying to find new owners for football clubs, where very dubious people throw themselves forward as wealthy prospective owners. I am sure this has happend with liverpool, not least H&G, but also during the summer. So well done to Martin Broughton for pinpointing NESV, an organisation with proven sporting pedigree.

A very interesting insight into role of Damien Camolli, our new Director of Football Stategy.

He has been employed by the new owners to basically produce a report on the best way to sort out, what the new owners see, as an extremely poorly managed squad system, which has seen, in recent years, players brought into the club on huge unmanagable wages, which the owners believe they could never re-coup - Therefore, they want them out and quickly.

Camolli's interim report (which is based on his observations, assesments of the players contracts i.e. annual salary, bonus structure, term etc, players ages and commercial 'worth' to the club) has highlighted the following player who, he believes, should be shown the door -
1. Johnson - signed for a high fee on a long term contract and being paid 'way over' his re-sale or commercial worth.
2. Jovanovic - signed on a free but annual salary deemed very high for the calibre of the player
3. Agger - worth to the scandinavian market acknowlegded, but a top earner and too injury prone.
4. Aurelio - Far too injury prone - no real 'worth'
5. Babel - Paid good money for an underachiever and on good money.
6. Poulsen - c£4m for a has been 30 something, plus on a high wage
7. Cole - Signed in a free but apparantly there was a significant signining on fee plus he is one of the best paid at the club.

Camolli's recommendation is that the club looks to offload all of the above either in January or the summer, whilst they all still have a viable transfer value.

The new owners are willing to let some go 'on the cheap' as they are looking at the long term picture i.e. what they can save on bonus payments and salaries over the term of the contracts.

He has also highlighted the following as 'must keep' players and has actually recommended a few be offered increased contracts, to truly reflect their worth:
Reina, Torres, Lucas, Carra, Gerrard, Kuyt and Meireles.

He has also commented about the talent held in reserve and feels these should be utalised more, potentially saving the club significant investment on transfers - The following have been highlighted by him as having excellent talent:
Pacheco. Mavinga, Ayala, Amoo, Insua, Wilson, Ngog, Kelly, Eccleston and Shelvey plus a number of the youth team have received rave reports.

My source, who has seen 'part' of his report (works within the club), did not get to see who he was recommending as signings, but he understands all recommendations will be assessed and approved by the board, looking at commercial value, value for money, age etc, however, the final decision will still stay with the manager.

What a load of tripe, I bet he has also identified that Dirk kuyt, works hard but has the touch of an elephant

No ed i fully agree with u there, we need a open minded manager, who has the balls to try new things, who knows how to attack and defend, like ancelotti at chelsea, . someone like pellegrini would hav been ideal, but my next choice would be rijkaard.

On the stadium issue and redvolping anfield u can put a extra tier on the anfield road and go over the road and make it a tunnel like old trafford have done the cent u could put another tier on that if possible and the man stand is where the money will be as it can be taken back a bit and 3 tiers on that could take the ground to 82 thousand people.

but if all things are taken to account i think the new stadium on stanley park would be better as you could just bulid and bulid and bulid and make the kop 15 thousand fans plus they could put in all the wires and grids for concerts at the ground

09 Nov 2010 14:40:24
My team for the opening day of next season would have a youthful and fresh feel to it (& not costing ludicrous amounts, I would expect the net spend over the next 2 windows to be around £10-15 million with players leaving and all) whilst the bench would have experience and give a chance to bring young players ie. Pacheco, Shelvey, Wilson, Amoo through into the first team more regularly. All in all look like this:-

XI
Reina
Kelly Cahill Agger/ Skrtel Coentrao
Meireles Banega Honda
Gerrard
Torres Falcao

BENCH
Jones
Carragher
Kyrgiakos
Lucas
Shelvey
Kuyt
Ngog

MANAGER
Leonardo

Players such as Johnson, Konchesky, Aurelio, Cole, Jovanovic, Maxi, Babel, El Zhar, Insua, Aquilani, Degen & Poulsen should all be shown the door IMO. Not good enough. Sales of this lot would obviously determine the above set-up.

hope we can at least win the f.a cup this year. europa wud b nice aswell.

Its a good question, I have come to a decision that I would like to see kenny back. He is a great manager who has won the league with two different teams, a fair while ago I admit. I just feel that the players would be happy to play for Kenny he always played a good attacking style of football. I know people will say you can't bow down to player power but I think Reina is unreplaceable. I know its a risk and I wouldn't want to see KK tarnish his rep but I trust him and if he thinks he could do it then so do I. I also don't really see anyone else available that i would want.

I think we shoulder certainly buy KEISUKE HONDA, JUAN MATA, BLAISE MATUIDI, IBRAHIM AFELLAY, new RB, and a young back up striker in January. With GLEN JOHNSON, DIRK KUYT, CHRISTIAN POULSEN, MAXI RODRIGUEZ, MILAN JOVANOVIC and RYAN BABEL being sold.

I would have a 3 man midfield consisting of GERRARD, LUCAS/ (MATUIDI), MEIRELES.

Upfront KEISUKE HONDA/ (AFELLAY), TORRES (back up), MATA.

I do honestly think NESV will buy Keisuke Honda due to marketing reasons aswell as being young and offereing the club quality in various positions, remembering also that he is two footed. Juan Mata can play as left winger and second striker and will provide us with much needed with down the left flank. Ibrahim Afellay will bring further creative and attacking qualities to the club, and can play on both flanks aswell as behind the striker. Blaise Matuidi is a favourite of Damien Comolli and is dubbed the next makelele, so I can see him coming to us, him and Lucas will compete with the same position in the centre of the park protecting the back four. I do also think there will some defensive changes come january and summer as we look to build a new team around gerrard and torres.

The signings recommended have been constantly been linked to us in recent times and I think a net spending of around 35 million will cover these new faces coming to the club.

One last thing, with appointment of Damien Comolli, Roy Hodgson will not be in charge of transfers thank god.

Editor what do you think of the new signings ans positons I have listed. Feeback would be much appreciated. {ed's note - I just think that is too many ins, it would unsettle the squad and take a while for the players to bed in and learn to play together. I would only make two signing, at most, in every transfer window if it was me.}

Other clubs who have redeveloped have managed to close a stand while it has been redeveloped.spurs newcastle blackpool to name a few and it is a far cost effective way to do even with the lost revenue for one season.dont get me wrong it is not a ideal situation but say if the put a extra tier on the main stand first they will loose 12,000 seats for 19 games excluding cups.the next season they can redevelop another stand like anfied road bit still have a bigger capacity than we have now with the new seating then the season after totally rebuild anfield road and maybe increase the kop aswell.all in all a full redevelopment would realistically take three seasons and we can continue playing at anfield with only a reduced capacity for the first season of redevelopment.as for playing at goodison i would sooner get some jumpers put them down in stanley park and play there than give them bitter blues any of my hard earned money {ed's note - it usually only takes a few months of redevelopment during the season, a lot of the work can be done during the close season.}
- - - - - - - - - - -
OK, so if we redevelop Anfield, what sort of capacity will we be looking at once finished? {ed's note - that will depend, there is no actual limit as such, you can always go back and redevelop a stand again later to increase it yet again. It will come down to how much space we have.}
- - - - - - - - - - - -
How much of the area around the ground do Liverpool FC own? I was told they owned quite a few of the old terraced houses that have been boarded up.

That's exactly the point. The level of redevelopment possible at Anfield is restricted to the land available. Have the club not spent the last however many years trying to secure the land around the stadium to allow redevelopment? If they haven't managed it by now, why do people think they will suddenly be able to? {ed's note - the hold up was two elderly sisters who refused to sell, they were the only house in an entire street that didn't belong to the club. I believe they have since passed away and Liverpool FC acquired that house as well. So that would remove one major obstacle to redevelopment.}

he didn't ask for ibrahimovic, .

we really need some shorty term quality to prove 2 the likes of pepe and nando that were good enough.
because if we don't get betyter they shud leave and play for a better team. because they are too good to go to waste.

i hope to god imwrong.

jay b YNWA {ed's note - it is not about the football, it is the training. Reina likes to distribute the ball from the back, like any good keeper should, but Roy is telling him not to look for quick throw outs etc. The kind of training they are doing is just repetitive defensive work, all about keeping shape. The best way for anyone to learn is to enjoy what they are doing, repetitive work will turn players into robots.}

Other clubs who have redeveloped have managed to close a stand while it has been redeveloped.spurs newcastle blackpool to name a few and it is a far cost effective way to do even with the lost revenue for one season.dont get me wrong it is not a ideal situation but say if the put a extra tier on the main stand first they will loose 12,000 seats for 19 games excluding cups.the next season they can redevelop another stand like anfied road bit still have a bigger capacity than we have now with the new seating then the season after totally rebuild anfield road and maybe increase the kop aswell.all in all a full redevelopment would realistically take three seasons and we can continue playing at anfield with only a reduced capacity for the first season of redevelopment.as for playing at goodison i would sooner get some jumpers put them down in stanley park and play there than give them bitter blues any of my hard earned money {ed's note - it usually only takes a few months of redevelopment during the season, a lot of the work can be done during the close season.}

OK, so if we redevelop Anfield, what sort of capacity will we be looking at once finished? {ed's note - that will depend, there is no actual limit as such, you can always go back and redevelop a stand again later to increase it yet again. It will come down to how much space we have.}

{ed's note - it could be worse, I still remember watching Paul Stewart play and trying to figure out how the hell he ever got to be a professional. My daughter was a better player at birth than he was, even SWP couldn't be as bad as that!} -

This made me smile, at the end of the 90's i was living in Sabah, Borneo. My next door neighbour for a while was Dave Roecastle, who was playing for the local team fror a season as a guest player. He told me a great story about how when Souness was manger he arranged to sign Dave from Leeds.
Part of the deal was the infamous Paul Stewart was to go in the other direction. Both players were picked for the relative reserve teams and apparently Stewart was so awful that Howard Wilkinson scrapped the deal on the spot.Sad really as Dave Roecastle would have been probably Souness's only decent signing.

s {ed's note - Rocastle was a fantastic player, shame we never got him and got rid of Stewart!}

Well they best get their a@?~s in gear and play like they want to be in the CL. If they do not make it, they will only have themselves to blame!

There will be some invest ment in Jan so hopefully that will better the team

Ed wat are your opinions on players like reina who sign big deals then are reportedly ready to quit in summer?

the prob i have wiv that is we can't make him play if he went on strike or he would just let the ball go in, so if he wants to go then sell for 35-40m as his contract is masive(6yrs i believe). then try to get DE GEA 10m {ed's note - I am not happy in one respect, but on the other hand NESV were told that this would happen if Roy was at the club.}

Jus read on ssn that pepe reina will consider his future and won't pledge his long term future 2 te club unless were challenging for honours.
he has ruled out a return to spain, so either stayin in england or going to italy are the main attractions. .

i would be gutted if he went, has been our best plkayer for the last 18 months.
and best keeper weve had since grobbelaar. .
if reina leaves the club i can see other big names leaving aswell :(

what u think ed?

My brother works for a big architect firm in london and he called me last night to tell me that they have been instructed to come up with a new design regarding the redevelopment of anfield.the new owners are reluctant to build a new stadium because of the cost involved which would mean having stadium dedt rather than operating dedt all the same the dedt will still need to be repaid so the increase revenue would be swallowed up in repayments.the redevelopment of anfield makes better sense both financially and emotionally considering the history associated with the ground, but they expect strong opposition from liverpool council who would prefer a new stadium as part of the new regeneration of the whole area.nesv realise that with recent goverment cutbacks regarding council budgets the owners are in a strong position to push through a redevelopment as a full regeneration will have to wait until the economy is much stronger.with the massive savings involved and potential naming rights of the stadium ie anfield arena incorparating adidas or something along those lines.this will more or less pay for the redevelopment on its own and will massively increase revenue for the club.

Interesting post, but it ignores certain factors. Firstly, if you redevelop Anfield, you will have to be prepared to significantly reduce the capacity whilst the work goes on, which would take some time. The club will suffer a huge loss in revenue during this period. To suggest that naming rights will be enough to offset these losses and the construction costs seems unlikely. In short, LFC will have to borrow. Alternatively, a couple of seasons in Goodison might be on the cards whilst the ground is rebuilt, but I'm not sure that will go down too well. Another factor is the size. If they redevelop Anfield, they will still be limited in term of capacity. There's only so far you can go when redeveloping old stadia, especially if you are restricted by the amount of land available. What size stadium do Liverpool need to be financially competative with the biggest clubs around?
Don't get me wrong, I think it will be a sad day if LFC leave Anfield, but if Liverpool want to compete at the highest level, you may have to put sentiment to one side, and be brutally realistic.

Hey Ed,

any news on when RH might be given the boot? If players are so unhappy with him, surely he can't be kept much longer? It would be disastrous if we kept him and lost players because of it (no matter how well he does).

t - LFC {ed's note - I don't know about that, player's are spoilt brats at times. But this is a major problem, it is a number of players that are unhappy and it is not going away. Pepe was just giving a timely reminder to NESV that the players don't like what is happening, but NESV are hardly going to remove Roy while the team is winning games. They have a serious problem on their hands right now.}

Thanks ED. Agree that players are spoilt brats at time, however i wouldn't put Pepe into that bracket, he seems to be a pretty down to earth guy. I also understand that its hard to sack someone when they are winning games, but Madrid seem to do it all the time (not that we should start behaving like them)
t- LFC {ed's note - there is a different mentality there though, here we tend to stand by our managers.}

so your sayin based on merit we should keep roy as manager as he's new? and in the process loose Pepe our best player last season(prob since he's been here) and Fernando our most prized possession? {ed's note - no, I am not! I firmly belive that all the talk about Hulk is a massive mistake from everyone and the player we are actually looking at is Falcao, who is younger and cheaper and fits in with the new boards plan. IMO he would be an excellent signing, not just a benchwarmer but a starter and potential star.

I reckon we'll get Matuidi and Ashley Young in january. The rumours about Young seem very strong. I'd prefer a striker and a left back, but Konchesky is Roy's man for left back and we won't get a decent striker to move in Jan to a non-Champs league team.

As regards the Chilean Sanchez and potential suitors, well, here's my take.

Manchester U:although he's a fan and has been frequently linked, I cannot see this move materialising for two simple reasons:(1)the tramp already has enough wingers (Nani, the French kid and the Ecuadorean and maybe 1 or 2 youths), and (2) United has an attacking mid. (ala Sneijder) and a forward as their most pressing areas.Add to that the fact that their coffers are thin, a winger certainly isn't a priority for them right now.So, no, I don't see them splashing £23m-£25m on someone they don't essentially need.

R Madrid:another no, no.He's not needed.It's forward and a leftback I see them going after (Rooney and Coentrao perhaps).Not going to happen.

Barcelona:again, he's not needed.Besides, I don't think he's Barca-type attacker (e.g. Mata, Silva, Pedro, Messi).Not going to happen.

Inter:this one could happen, however, I think a centre back, a holding mid. and a leftwinger could be top priority.Besides, they've that Bianbiany fella.
Possible but improbable.

Milan:well, they most certainly could do with him, but they just don't have the dosh to splash.So it's non-starter this one.

Arsenal:don't need him.Even if they did there's no way Wenger's gonna fork out that much dosh.

City:also not needed here.But knowing these thicks, they could move in for him just cause they can.But I very much doubt it's gonna happen.

Abramovich:could happen, but highly improbable.What they need is a right back and centre back, I think.

Liverpool:well, we're a class side, the most successful club in Britain;we playing in the best league in the world and the most famous stadia in the world;got great fans, and, morever, he is needed, and we can afford him.So, a move should definitely be possible. .it's just that I don't feel it will happen.
I think I'm gonna agree with the ed.The boy will, one way or the other, eventually land at the Theatre of Delusions of Grandeur.
I myself have longed for the lad, but finally realise that I'm setting myself up for disappointment.It ain't going to happen.

On another note, Ed, besides Hulk, who else do you think we were watching Benfica vs Porto?

Best Wishes {ed's note - I am sure Coentrao will have been watched, you have to at least watch players like that, you just never know when his team might hit monetary trouble and other potential suitors not looking to fill that spot.}

25 is the maximum number of players in a squad but the squad doesn't have to be that size it can be less (i.e. liverpool only have 21 players registered meaning the can add to it in the jan transfer window). under21's don't have to be counted in the list but they can be used (i.e. shelvey). you are only aloud up to 17 foreign players (within the 25 player restriction) thereby leaving room for 8 homegrown players(to fill in the rest of the squad making it 25). that sums up everything if you don't get it then i just don't know. .like really. . just don't know. .your parents would be so soo disappointed in you. .you would be classed as a failure in life. .as it would show that humanity is slowly regressing into stupidity. . .

Turan has been linked with us alot, last year i was working out in Turkey 4 about 8months and i saw him play twice and also alot on t.v.He is an outstanding player but what worries me is that he gets alot of time on the ball in acres of space without being closed down.He won't get that in the PL, it may take him a while to get used to the PL i don't think we should go for him in Jan more like a summer signing.I don't know 100% if this is true but i think he has a heart problem any1 know about this? Ok just to try and clear this homegrown thing up in a submited squad of 25 plys , 8 hav 2 be homegrown but also in that 8 4 hav 2 b trained by the club between the age of 18-21, so that's 4 trained by the club MINIMUM 18-21 and 4 homegrown (ie english or hav played here 5 yrs or more)= 8, hope ur still with me here .So therefore we can still hav in the squad 17 non-homegrown players and by the way i also believe that players under 21 DO NOT hav 2 b registered with the EPL but can still play in the EPL {ed's note - you don't HAVE to have 8 home grown players mate, you just have to have no more than 17 who are not home grown.}

Ed are we genuinely looking at HULK?
He's the last type of player we need, to hit and miss, turns up one game, goes missing for another three! And for the price we'd pay we could get someone a lot better, his technique isn't to be marvelled at, his play is power based, I'd prefer to for either of the Valencia wingers! Whatever happened to highly rated winger Vicente?was a smashing player before he got injury prone, or for around the same price we could get Jesus Navas, if we sign three or four players with real quality, 2 Wingers, a maybe 2 strikers, could do with a versatile defender who can play across the line, why did we ever let arbeloa go, the most versatile player in history! Wasn't to shabby gettin forward too! Better then Glen Johnson! We definitely need 2 wingers and at least 1 forward for the first 11, then the players who's position they'd take wouldn't be bad for the bench for squad depth! Although saying that, the likes of maxi, poulson, kuyt and jovanovic aren't! Mixed feelings about babel, he's never really done it, but for some reason another the lad has never been given a 'proper' chance, as in a constant run in the team as a striker, Roy came in and said he would give him a run of games as a striker but? I'd love to know whats the most run of games he's got in the team, even as his unfavoured left wing position, I remember he had a few games as a right winger last year and he looked great! Bet his man easy and got a good ball in too, the west ham away springs to mind when he came on and won us the game! But Rafael benitez was never smart enough to realize, and loved his little pet kuyt to much! Who Barr a bit of effort I'm struggling to understand how he's a professional footballer! {ed's note - we are looking at Hulk, but he is only being looked at so far. Kuyt was Holland's best player in the World Cup, he has plenty of ability it is a lack of movement from players around him that has made him look bad. He is always looking for a quick pass but having to hang on to the ball as no one is getting into space. He is 4 times the player Babel will ever be. Arbeloa asked to go, he was always desperate to return to Spain and never settled in the UK, Rafa had to pretty much beg him to stay an extra year.}

Liverpool are definitely interested in Hulk for £19mil, Affelay £8mil and Matuidi £7mil. To offload Babel £6mil, Insua £4mil and loan out poulsen by strking a deal that makes his move permanent (4mil) in summer. There is a lot of work to be done to convince those players to join us and tempt their clubs to sell. The good news is if the deal is done we are going to have very quality players for net spending of around £20 mil. with few more players to be sold in summer and more money from the owners, we will have a very young quality squad next season. Thankyou for the swift response I was getting worried.On the player front I think we should buy Honda and this will be shrewd buy before manure get their hands on him . And also Mata or Llorente.believable for good buys and unbeleievable for bad buys.Your opinion please thankyou.I thought Liverpool were outstanding yesterday and can challenge for top four easy if they carry on like this.

Hey Ed. Mata will be staying with Valencia on a long term deal to 2015. His father's his mouth piece and if he doesn't go back to Barcalona or from a big offer Real Madrid he has made it clear he wants to stay in Spain. A left wide man is needed. A player that can convert on both sides will be perfect such as an Arda Turan (Yes, I know. I mention his name too often), Bryan Ruiz (Striker that plays wing as well), or even offer 15 million for Adam Johnson! Maxi has been playing well and I believe that the those in Melwood are developing young Pacheco to be a winger! Even David Bentley is a good enough player to create width and I would attempt to rejuvenate his career with the great players around him at LFC. Afellay is a good option. Young, but we are only 10 points from 1st place and a string of wins can see us back in CL contention (fingers crossed). Glen Johnson needs to be used as a winger and keep Kelly beside Carra as he develops. Amoo, Eccelston are also an option. Remember if Sterling and Silva continue to develop as wingers than we will look very good! Wenger plays with inexperience and youth so I don't buy that "inexperience" B.S. anymore!

The bottom line is that they need to create width. The midfield is fantastic. Meireles is better than Mascherano and at least he keeps his cool with that daunting look he sports! Lucas. .WOW. what can I say about Lucas. .Im surprised, but the kid came in as Brazils U19 Captain and a top player out of the country. I'm gonna shut up about Lucas and let him continue to evolve!

Toivonen and/ or Ruiz are great options for striker as the later as said before can also play wings! Kuyt can also do the same as Ruiz as well as Joe Cole!

We don't need an overhaul, we need a striker, winger and bench depth (SEEK IN THE PREM!)

SIM THE RED!

I love the Hulk. I just don't like him when he's angry.
