I've genuinely enjoyed reading and sharing information on here over the last couple of years, but lately the hostility has become a bit much.
I think I'm going to take a break for a while.
At the end of the day, this is a rumours site. The Eds put a huge amount of time into keeping it running, and plenty of people take the time to submit information in good faith.
As someone who's shared information myself, I know not everything comes off, and sometimes things change after you've heard them. Other times, people will simply get it wrong. That's the nature of transfer rumours.
Whether a rumour turns out to be true or false, the abuse and personal attacks aimed at the people submitting them have become exhausting to read. It's meant to be a bit of fun, a place to discuss possibilities, speculate, and then see what actually comes to fruition.
If you're after certainty, wait for the club announcement. If you're here for rumours, then there has to be room for people to be wrong without being piled on.
Hopefully things settle down. Until then, I'll be taking a step back.

Sorry to read this Ned. I've been coming to this site for more than 15 years. The toxicity has certainly increased over the years. From the majority of readers here I echo Ed's sentiment. Ned, it will be a real shame if you do take a step back and you'll be missed. I bet the silent minority (like myself) appreciate all the info you've provided.
I think most people have an issue with fake 'ITK's' who Twitter gossip to stir up the fan base, and us supporters are intelligent enough to know the difference between the spoofers and the real thing.
People have even questioned Carra, Robbo, VG & TheFields, who have impressive track records.
You've been honest enough to say you may not get as much info due to your source, but we all appreciate your input into the site nonetheless - and, as you said, things can change quickly in football.
This is a rumours site and is meant to be fun - if you're not having fun, mate, have a little break, but don't stay away too long, we'll all miss the 'diddly out's'.

I think Ned is one of the genuine posters, and I personally enjoy reading your posts. However, this forum has recently become a hotbed of people claiming to be in the know, or receiving genuine information, which is actually becoming tiresome. I have no issues with people sharing rumours, and we are genuinely lucky to have people like Ned, Carra, Fields and VG who I genuinely think have access to info, but it's when you get the random username claiming they have info, it just gets a bit boring.
If you want to share a rumour, there is absolutely no harm in saying it's your opinion. Over the years, I've found the best part of this site is just sharing thoughts on who we should and shouldn't sign. The ITKs were a bonus.

It's a rumours page for rumours. Personally like reading them, and Flanders, you might be a bit of a Charlie Church, but your posts are funny. If a rumour turns out right, then fantastic; if it's not, well, it's not the end of the world. Worse things happen than a rumour in a page meant for rumours not happening.

I think i speak for 90% of us by saying, we appreciate everyone's efforts that have contributed to the success & development post ED002! I don't vocalise my appreciation for most of the contributors ( as do many), which leaves the few very frustrated individuals to dominate the feedback.
There's a lot more silent posters than you think that do value all of your inputs. Unfortunately, the dummy-out-the-pram posters take the limelight which should be ignored!
It's all a bit of fun this! We wouldn't be on this site if we all didn't love this club, some just have a very funny way of dealing with the highs & Lows!

Ned, don't step away. I enjoy your posts and I enjoy any snippet of information that comes through here whether it's on the money or wrong. I just love the rumours and chance of signings.
An idea for the admins... Respect to the posters, any cruel negativity should be met with a yellow card, a second episode should be met with a red and time out, a third and it's pack your bags.
This site would be nothing without the hope and dreams of signing players, we need the posters who are in and around people who 'may' have an inkling what's going on.

We know what it feels like, but i could never imagine what it.must be like when regular posters like Ned, get the amount of abuse that they do.

We'll never stop the toxic replies at times, but at least they are in the minority.

A fair few on this site at times too - trolls, those that while professing to support the club completely forget that the inclusiveity and welcoming nature are what everybody loves about the site and club - YNWA are just random letters to these 'people' and so many random user names these days are the ones that seem to shout the loudest.

We need characters like you, it's the heartbeat of the site, but your comments are not lost on me. Apart from ribbing Ed025 occasionally I try to take the rumours as they are meant to be, just that. It's the only place I trust for getting stuff right, but wouldn't criticise anyone who puts their head above the parapet. I took a break about a year ago for the same reason. Not been near or by but opened the site today to see if anything has changed. The Eds were always solid and did a great job with some added humour and they, above all, really don't deserve the haters comments.
I was hoping to come back and see a refreshing change. I haven't read through much yet but this post, Ned, does not give me hope.

Just re-registered after a lost password just to say I appreciate the input from every rumour submitted and especially those who go above and beyond.
A rumour site without rumours is a dead site. Go look at the Arsenal rumours site and see what this place would be like without people like Ned contributing. Days without posts, no interaction, just wouldn't be on my daily read list with the people who post here regardless of accuracy.
If you want any degree of certainty, this isn't the place, but if you want to get some insight into how football transfers work, how things change so quickly and actually get a little peek behind the media curtain, then maybe be kind to those who provide the information.

I used to post a lot on here about 20 years ago, but stopped due to a long-term illness and other reasons that I won't go into (I had a different use name in those days). Started posting again recently, though I am not at all ITK, and I can understand how you feel. It was much more friendly and basically just more fun in those days, I don't recall endless dogfights between users. There is a certain amount of smugness and schoolgirl-level back-biting on here now, and it's not pleasant to see.
I hope you take a break and then come back, the more cordial posters there are the better. I'm not going to blame any particular generation for this, it just reflects the sadly poor level of discourse all over the internet, regardless of subject. Anonymity should not be a cover for bad manners and bullying. Take care mate.
