what positions do you guys think we should be investing in come transfer market? I think we need a central midfielder due to gerrard leaving. I think borini, balo and lambert will be sold or loaned out so i believe we will sign a striker. I also think we need a back up goalkeeper as i really don't rate jones at all and he may leave. What are your thoughts on the matter?

A striker and a GK should be it for this summer. If Lucas leaves, then a a CDM would be needed imo. Someone on the rumors page said the club are looking at bringing in as many as 5 players this summer which would be a huge mistake. Just replace Borini, balo and Lambert with Origi and a new striker, and sign a GK to challenge Migs. Should be more than enough to launch a title challenge next season. No need to sign half decent players like Ings, Milner etc. If the club can raise sufficient funds then Neto for free and a top notch striker like Lacazette, Benzema or Dybala would be great and Schneiderlin for CDM if Lucas goes.

I reckon we need a top class striker and a DM if lucas was to leave.
Mignolet is showing the reason why we bought him and we have danny ward for back up, who for me is no worse than jones and we've managed with him for a couple of years.

Just a top top GK to challenge Mignolet. I'd have loans Wisdom, Ilori and Texeira back in plus Origi. These plus youth like Rossiter, Wilson, Williams, Branaghan etc should plenty cover the outgoings you've listed.
That's it for me. See what we have already at the club, funds raised to help towards reducing debt, improved contracts.
If we find we are short in quality then there is Jan window, but like Ibe we might already have what we need. Keeping Lucas, Sterling and anyone that's been of importance this second half is more important then buying in. We need a top GK, Jones isn't good enough and Mignolet could lose form or injuries.
Gerrard and Johnson have already been replaced, the results and rotation that hasn't included them show this. Same with selling Borini or Lambert, they've not been used enough to be missed. Where they have been used replace that time with Origi, let alone Yesil, Dunn and still Balotelli if he can't be sold. If he can, we have Markovic and Ojo around the front line. We really do have enough already.

I think we need
1) a backup keeper, perhaps Neto or Matt Ryan?
2) one top striker in place of Borini and Lambert (leaving us with Studge, new striker, Origi + Balo), my pick would be lacazette, but guessing we'll go for someone young but talented like Ings or Vietto
3) Another midfielder. Lucas is a defensive mid, and Allen is not consistently good enough going forward, so if either Hendo or Can get injured, we'll struggle to rotate in midfield without losing something. I'd personally sell Allen as Lucas/Can can play CDM if required, and go a better allrounder like Illaramendi, Khedira or Milner. I'd like to see Rossiter/Williams get their game time too, but I think we need to strengthen midfield and there's enough opportunities in cup games to ease them in
I think with the potential departures of Gerard, GJ, Enrique, Allen, Borini, Lambert and perhaps moving on some more fringe/loan players (Aspas/Coates etc. ) we should be able to more than justify three good additions that can strengthen the squad.

I think we need a world class central midfielder. A player that dicatates the tempo of the game. The best examples for me are both playing at Madrid, Modric & Kroos.
When I look at the Liverpool team, I don't see a dicator in there that pulls the strings on a game by game basis. The best we had recently was Alonso, what an absolutley incredible footballer.
We have some pretty good options in there at the moment, but no-one I would say is genuinely world class. Hendo is a good player, Lucas is good, Allen decent, and Can looks like he could turn into some player, but none of them are top, top notch (yet in Cans case).
If Alonso was in this current team, we'd be an absolute beast of a team because of the fluidity and movement in front of him. Those players are hard to find though.

On youtube you can see Brendan pick he all time fav premiership players 6 weeks before he got the liverpool job he didn't pick any of r players by the way scholes ahead of Stevie g but what I did notice is he picked Keane to have a bit of strength in his midfield and I believe this is where he will look to strengthen most, has Zola in the number 10 role which he calls the Zola countinho is his Zola so I think he is happy there he has Henry out in the left either sturridge r sterling he has the pure goals of shearer at the tip this is the type of player we haven't got maybe ings could be this pure finisher with the service he will get from the likes of zolinho who knows.

Interesting point Tommy but i don't think you can use his appreciation of past players to predict what he's hoping to build; there simply won't be players in the market than can replicate former players, only reach the same level of quality in their own way.

Emlyn I think the most money should be spent on a top top centre midfielder and I'm worried about wisdom he can't even get on at west brom as we will all have different opinions on this I want isco for r midfield prob no chance but let's hope.
