Seems to be a lot of double standards/contradictions on here lately.

We sign Bogdan and "he's not good enough we need genuine competition".

Then we sign Kovacic and it's all "what about Can and Coutinho? Now they have competition for their places!"

If we sign a young player it's "they're blocking the progression of our own academy".

Then we sign Milner and it's all "omg he's nearly 30 and on top wages!".

People are screaming from the roof to sign players for right back and left wing etc. But then we sign them and it'll suddenly be "omg, Konoplyanka and Clyne are just stealing game time from Ibe and Wisdom".

Seriously people, get a bloody grip.

I suspect if we sign a top striker you won't get a whinge from anyone though. tells you everything you need to know doesn't it ;)

Funny that's the only position not being widely rumoured at the moment apart from Benteke a whole back who very few seem to think suits our style (including myself)

Sounds like quotes from your archived posts Adam ;)

Red Rum

They are players we do not need and do not sort out our problems. Mignolet needed replaced with a top class goalkeeper. Milner is not the midfielder we needeD and ings is not the striker we need.We should have signed 3 players to fill the positions we needed. Not 3 and looking at the first team with no improvement.

I think Kovacic is potentially world class. Barcelona don't consider average players.

He can play on the wing, in attacking midfield, box to box and even as a deep lying playmaker. I personally prefer him in attacking midfield. Either way he is a class signing. He will be a long term solution to our central midfield along with Hendo and Can. It allows Coutinho to play a little further up without sacrificing any creativity from our deeper midfielders.

Red Rum, probably mate, but I seem to be the only guy not moaning this summer haha. I believe in giving youth a chance but I am also strongly for signing people to provide genuine competition. I also think it's wise to have senior players available for every position.

I think the only signing I've moaned about in the last 5 years was Moreno purely because I knew he couldn't defend and Bertrand was available for cheaper.

ings is an alright signing, Milner good but not needed, kovacic good, not needed, and lucas our only DM leaving.

But what does it mean for can and lucas? Milner wants to play midfield, kovacic is a midfielder, coutinho plays better centrally and henderson as well - not mentioning youth players at all who may as well pack their bags. How are you going fit all these players together? Have can lucas henderson coutinho kovacic milner players who want to start and need regular football.

With sterling wanting out thought we needed a top striker, a winger, a DM, a keeper to push mign and maybe a RB - we bought a striker who is a good signing but a risk, two CMs, and a keeper who isn't going to push mignolet.

Signing loads of good players we probably don't need instead of getting a few top players is where we went wrong last summer and looks the same again

Barcelona don't consider average players?
Song and Jeremy mathieu Are two of the woRst sIgnings barca ever made. Every club gets players wrong however to judge a player as potentially worldclass because barca were interested is ridiculous. He's a very good player but when lucas leaves we hhave created even more of a defensive problem. We have not bought the correct midfielders, not a question of their ability

Again people are asking the wrong questions and expecting the right answers, EMS. As the others have said on this thread, we are buying players we don`t need. We did that last season and see where that got us? We have glaring probs in the team that need addressing YET we are buy players to address probs we don`t have. How hard is it to understand that? We have issues in the DM role, GK, and in attack (Ings and Origi won`t fix those so no need mentioning them) with a top striker, DM and a GK to compete with Mingo YET we are spending money on a very good player YET one we absolutely don`t need. We have learnt nothing from last season and if those issues are not addressed this summer, good luck with getting anywhere this season
