Our two most expensive signings ever are Andy Carroll and Christian Benteke.
It sounds like the first line of a bad joke.
Benteke will be available for transfer next summer guaranteed.Anyone that went to a car dealer and bought a 20 grand car for 50 grand would be ridiculed but we spend 32.5 mill on benteke and everyones buzzing.Everyone signed at 30 mill plus is on another level from benteke(except carroll) yet we sign those 2 for near 70 million something is very wrong.

The problem with your point is that a car has an intrinsic and demonstrable value. The value of a player is only demonstrable after their purchase.
We paid over the odds for Carroll and although we expected it when we purchased him we only knew it afterwards. When Utd brought Di Maria no one balked at the price but in hindsight it turned out he was a waste of money.
In 12 months we will look back, if Benteke has scored 5 goals we will be a laughing stock, if he scores 20 then we'll be geniuses.

Guess you missed Shevchenko to Chelsea, Forlan to Man U, Balotelli to Man City, Jovetic to Man City, Wright Phllips to Chelsea, Lukaku to Everton, Kaka to Real Madrid, Falcao to Man U, Soldado to Spurs, Lamela to Spurs, Veron to Man U, Anderson to Man U, Aquilani to Liverpool, Sanchez to Barcelona etc. I could go on all day tbh. All clubs make expensive mistakes. Carroll was one of them.
Eiher give Benteke a chance or change your username to "No class".

What's wrong is your desire for people to fail - he's a first choice striker for a top national side, he's scored 49 goals in 102 games for a struggling side.
He's proven in the PL - let's give him a chance before writing him off as a failure.

What an expensive mistake Sanchez was eh EMS. bought for £30 odd million, scored 39 goals in 88 league matches (something like 47 in 150 matches in all competitions) in three seasons, then sold for more than they paid for him.
I wish Liverpool could buy more expensive mistakes like that. ;)

Pathetic Post! Iam not Benteke`s biggest fan BUT I`m willing to give him a chance because well, he`s one of us now andif he succeds, we all succedd as a club. I guess you`re just a whiner who is rooting for one of our players to fail. Shameless behavior from a "liverpool" fan, indeed.

World class, I am not going to have a dig, over the past few years I got the same stupid reaction from others and was told to support someone else. When I posted Alberto is a waste of money , I was told he is going to be world class in few years . And according to many last summer Lallana was going to be the second best English player after Sterling (I guess many changed their mind on Sterling now).
Anyways, I don't agree with you on Benteke, is he is worth 32.5m, maybe not, but players prices is just beyond the ridiculous now, I do think we'll get more out of him than Firmino, and whilst he is not a Suarez or Torres at his best, he is a very good striker with very good conversion rate.

World Class your response back to EMS is completely contradicting your original post, if you are going to suggest "Everyone signed at 30 mill plus is on another level from benteke(except carroll)" what is wrong with a list of players who cost over 30 mil who have been flops along with Carroll?? although Sanchez shouldn't have been on it.
Anyway, like you I am not entirely happy with Benteke especially considering the price. I do think the comparison to Carroll from a lot of posters is unfair. While they are both big strong players who are good in the air, Benteke is far more gifted athletically and has the ability to stretch defenses and run in behind, but it is something Rodgers needs to work on with him as it has been suggested his movement isn't great. I don't see how this cannot be worked on in training and we see a massive improvement over the season.
Time can only tell if he will indeed be a flop or a success but I think he has enough technical and physical ability and potential to be a success. It all depends on how good he wants to be and how hard he is willing to work to achieve it. Carroll and Balotelli don't have that drive I just hope Benteke is different and will thrive with the expectations attached to him.

Completely agree with ems and lfctommy here there sentiments are bang on the money. also don't know who wrote about footballers value only being able to be evaluated after the fact but this is also completely true. You can't say anything as a fact in football until it has already happened. And seriously though watch Carroll watch benteke and then come back with some sort of structured opinion that isn't based on absolutely nothing but the thin air between your ears
