VVD not included in squad tour to France!

Agree6 Disagree0

That was always going to happen. Not training with the squad.

We either need to bite the bullet and bid for him or walk away. The damage has been done so waiting a few weeks is only going to upset Saints further as they will have an unhappy player for longer and less time to utilise their money.

We have left the ball in Southamptons court it seems.

If they come to us to discuss a deal we will bid if not we wont. They have said they are not for sale it is wether Southampton want to try and push for the 60/ 70 million they could get for him this year or if they are happy to get reduced fee from another team next transfer window or possibly even this.

Most clubs know if a player is willing to join them or not before they bid. Tapping up, maybe. Shouldn't be done, (not condoning), but we didn't try to screw over Southampton, offering them a world record bid (by a distance) for a defender. They thought of a bidding war, which hasn't happened (rumours of others considerg offers of £45m etc. Time to get together, one more apology and get the deal done. (60M still a world record, even after Kyle Walker) . Just do it.

{Ed001's Note - Saints did not think about a bidding war at all, why lie to deflect from Liverpool's failing? Southampton simply do not want to sell, unless they get the money they feel would make it worth their while to sell.}

Do we know what they feel would make it worth their while to sell? And do we know how far away we are from the valuation? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Right now they have told the two interested sides that he is not for sale. I think that will likely change at some point during the window as, in my view. his position is untenable.}

Lie? Never suggested LFC didn't do wrong. Just not more than others usually. If it was a more serious indiscretion FA would not drop simply for an apology. I agree they should follow regulations but do feel some seem to enjoy vilifying more than necessary. Slap on wrist, don't do it again, move on.

{Ed002's Note - They have done way worse than others and it is far from the norm. It is nothing whatsoever to do with the FA and I suspect you don't grasp the seriousness of these matters - which you should do given the club are already serving one ban.}

24 Jul 2017 12:03:59
Spot on, Jayden. We own this mess and that is a fact. And we did not "maybe" tap VVD up. We DID tap him up, Manalah. The deflection is embarrassing.

24 Jul 2017 13:06:42
Also, if we had done things properly, the chances are we would have agreed a deal with Southampton now and he'd be closer to being a Liverpool player. Same with Sessegnon if we hadn't messed about the Dempsey signing. Not to mention any kids we could have signed for the academy this window that we've now missed out on. Pretty sloppy by us.

Not deflecting at all, B Scouse, I agree rules should be followed. I just don't see them as relevant as others. I don't work in football, if I did maybe I'd see it differently. Any other business it's called headhunting. Never understood why it's so sacrosanct in the football world. Also though, with us already serving a youth ban ( I'm fully aware of) if this had been as serious an infringement as some suggest the FA would hammer us, not just accept an apology as ok. Not wanting to start an arguement but this is simply my stance on the situation. Apologies to any who feel differently. Peace ✌️.

{Ed002's Note - Why do you keep talking about tHE FA - IT IS NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH THE FA. THEY ARE NOT INVOLVED, NEVER HAVE BEEN AND NEVER WILL BE. THEY HAVE ACCEPTED NOTHING - AS IT IS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM.

Dumb as a box of rocks.}

😂😂😂😂 Sorry ed2 if I haven't split the hair correctly, Southampton reported LFC for an illegal approach, LFC withdrew offer and apologise. No further action. If not FA, then Prem league, UEFA, FIFA, whoever, I'm only going by what has been reported over time. Again apologies if my interpretation has offended you.

{Ed002's Note - Where do you get this "No further action" from?}

24 Jul 2017 15:48:51
Original report on SSN. 7/ 6/ 17 Southampton report LFC to Premier league for alleged illegal approach. Then 27th June widely reported across all media that Premier league/ Fa to take no further action against LFC unless further evidence emerges.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with the FA. I am sure you can find me the Premier League statement that says the matter is closed.}
