Here's a statement to get everyone going - I think if Emre Can stays, regains full fitness and continues his development in the way he showed at the end of last season, I see him as a future LFC captain. I sincerely hope he stays!

Agreed, I'm going to get shot down here but in terms of moving forward I would rather he started than Hendo and I really rate Hendo but Can has an excellent balance of power, skill and technique rare for someone of his build.

I think he will be a good solid player but he is not special. He definitely believes he is better than he is. Just my observation there. Anyway I would like to keep him, but would take a handsome fee for him because he is replaceable.

When I read the first sentence (Here's a statement to get everyone going) I got super excited expecting some factual news only for it to be followed by "I think if" and that's where I stopped reading.

Agreed.

I don't think he's got the footballing brain to be a top top player.

I said this on another LFC site when he first started playing with us, I don't know what it is but he has that spark, I think he is a natural born leader. He will turn out to be a fantastic footballer and people are just far too quick to jump to conclusions forgetting he is such a young man and he will take time to catch up with his growth, if ya know what I mean. He is one player we will look back at and really regret selling.
I had a bet two years ago that by 28 he will be captain of Germany. £50 @ 40-1 easy peasy :)

He doesn't start above Hendo let's get that straight but he can line up alongside him no problem. The amount of games we could potentially have (I mean when we reach every final) then we are going to need a strong squad.

It's been said many times here, in the past, that Can shows clear leadership skills and I've always agreed with it. He plays the holding midfielder role well, and the box to box also. Fierce in the tackle, and always wiling to do the dirty work.

I just think that there's a double standard on here, as with many other things. People excuse Henderson for a poor season due to his injuries, but refuse to grant Can the same consideration and judge him far more harshly. Yes, Henderson is the better player, but then shouldn't he be with his longer experience with the team and in football? Give Can the benefit of the doubt. (And Grujic is nowhere near Can's level, so thinking he can walk into Can's position is wishful thinking) .

Not a chance. His lack of game intelligence is astounding.

25 Jul 2017 23:44:08
He's 23. Give the fella a break. He's got something there, maybe he doesn't show it consistently but he's got quality and will get better. How many people wanted Hendo gone when Fulham bid for him? And now he's the first name on the team sheet when fit. how many other players on here get bashed prematurely? I remember people on here saying Suarez couldn't finish, that Mane and Gino weren't what we needed, or Coutinho isn't consistent but then whinge when other teams show interest. Get a grip.

Yup. Cans lack of game intelligence? .

Them fellas at Juventus don't know their arse from their elbow when it comes to judging players.
