I keep on hearing fans complaining all over social media how Klopp's ending the final season 🤷

He has just won the Carling cup and probably will finish in top 3 how is that bad?

Seems some fans have just lost their minds 🤦.

It's just youngsters who play football manager and are on social media at any given time to knock people. It's the new modern world. It's so cool apparently. Not all youngsters may I add.

Start of the season we’d all of taken it. However, when your still in all four competitions in march after winning one, only ending with the caraboa cup is going to be a disappointment. Some reactions may be seen as OTT, but I understand the frustration.

It's not bad, but it's not great either.

It would be interesting to hear the players thoughts and opinions on the tactics and the way they have been asked to play.
Apart from Trent being allowed to drift into the middle of the park I don’t think the tactics actually suit any of out players and stifles them more than anything. All you have to do is look at macalister/ gakpo when played in their favoured positions and szobo before he joined us.
Maybe this is why they look so deflated on the pitch at the moment?

we started going downhill when Trent came back into the team.

27 Apr 2024 16:53:46
I agree.
Trying to play to Trent’s strengths at the detriment of the team.
So it would be interesting to know how the players feel about this.

Gomez was having his best season for us in years playing himself back into the England squad. With Trent and Robbo back he's not featured nearly as much. Defensively we looked better with Bradley at RB. We look again like we did last year giving up great looks week in week out. Playing Trent central makes it so much easier for a side to defend in a low block and leaves us open to the same counter attacks time and time again. Maybe the players don't believe in how they are being asked to play. idk.

27 Apr 2024 19:05:35
How can you blame tactics when we were cruising until recently when injured players came back and couldn't replicate their 1st half form? The truth is Diaz Nunez and youngsters carried us when we had injuries but it wasn't sustainable hence lot's of hope's were put on Salah and jotas comeback but it didn't go according to the plan and Nunez and Diaz goals just dried up 🤷.

I’m of the opinion that the rhythm was lost, we got injuries and the kids stepped up brilliantly, of which some have propelled themselves into the 1st team squad, kudus to them for taking the chances they got.

During that period, the senior pros rallied and covered any short fall re errors/ inexperience. When the senior players returned from their injuries, it was nearly all at the same time, the rhythm was lost getting up to speed - coupled with the players that played through the injury period started feeling the demands of the season physically possibly mentally too.

Also what appears to be overlooked imo, is the fact the engine room (midfield) has 2 players new to the league and country, possibly compounding the problem.

So here we are today, a cup and back in the champions league, we hoped for four trophies which in reality was a romantic vision.

We have come so far under the stewardship of JK, let’s thank him and give him a huge send off.

Hi eds,

Just a quick question: do you foresee Szob's and Harvey's best positions being the position? Could imagine Szob on the right and Harvey behind a striker.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - sorry I think there is a word missing as I am not sure I understand.}

I think the word is bench.

27 Apr 2024 17:19:43
not sure if Szob has a place in the 1st eleven, GaKPO and Grav have come on strong so its not all negative .

27 Apr 2024 18:17:27
He'll be fine IMO. The team is barely functioning and it has affected every player, some more than others.

Good Afternoon Ed002,

If you have a moment I would appreciate your insight.

Regarding Slot, you obviously appreciate his coaching and potential. I haven't seen too much of him only the feedback from players who played under him which think he would be a great Coach for us.

What do you believe he can come in and change and are we missing any particular position that he may need for his favoured formation?

Lastly, does he in your opinion draw any comparisons to Ten Hag who came into United with his stock high but to date has yet to look capable? From what I have seen one major plus for Slot, he appears to be more charismatic.
Your opinion is much appreciated thanks Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - There will need to de discussions over players - some we already know are departing. He will be presented with a list of the targets identified by Fallows, Hunter and Klopp. Some will stay and some will go from the list.

Aside from both being Dutch I would not look to drawing comparisons to ten Hag at all.}

Thanks Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - No problem)

While I will miss Klopp after watching some of slots highlights of how his teams play I’m looking forward to playing some metal football again, let’s hope he doesn’t have the same person telling him low mundane position football is best for this team, I want to see full throttle pounding of the double bass drum thrash metal football.

According to the athletic when slot joined feyenoord he signed 17 players and rebuilt the team so here are my predictions for the summer.

Koopmeiners id say will be top of his list as he's worked with him before and they have an excellent relationship, will be paired at CDM in a 4231 with Alexis so Trent will have to play at right back.

Which hopefully won't be a massive issue as he plays inverted wing backs which could also mean geertruida joining for left back with Gomez as cover with robbo and tsimikas moving on.

Id imagine he will replace Salah with the best player in the Dutch league the left footed bakayoko.

I also think he will move Diaz and Nunez on making gakpo out full time winger with the goal machine giminez being signed to rotate up top with Jota.

Left footed Slovakian centre back hancko could also be signed as he's been excellent

I think we will look a little something like this

Allison Patterson

Trent Bradley
Konate quansah
Van dijk hancko
Geertruida gomez

McAllister gravenberch bajcetic
Koopmeiners endo Morton

Bakayoko Elliot
Szoboszlai jones
Gakpo carvalho

Giminez jota

Add reserves such as danns, doak and Clark into the mix and I'm definitely excited I just hope we aren't boring to watch as slot apparently favours a possession game focused on tiring the opposition with the ball.

You’re absolutely dreaming if you think we’re going to rinse Feyenoord for 4 of their players mate.

I also not a big fan of leaders who move somewhere else and take multiple people from their previous team, it’s a major weakness for me.

1 or 2 players absolute max.

27 Apr 2024 12:25:21
That's only 3 from feyenoord mate, hancko probably wouldn't happen nor would giminez. bakayoko is at psv which feyenoord fans would love and koopmeiners is at Atalanta. Not meant to be an exact prediction just a bit of fun into what or how we could look.

27 Apr 2024 13:23:38
Interesting take that, mate.

Personally, I can foresee Hancko at CB, too. Bakayoko at RW makes sense, and so does Koopmeiners: all 3 will be known to Slot.

I think Nunez will be given another season, especially with how much change may come about in the frontline. More-likely that Beck gets more time than Geertruida - probably the same said about Jaros re: signing Patterson.

All my opinion, though - happy to hear that of others!

27 Apr 2024 17:46:51
Koopmeiners? Morton? They’re not going to make a blind bit of difference. It’s painfully obvious we need a top class defensive midfielder to play alongside MacAllister, Koopmeiners isn’t that player by a very long way, he certainly doesn’t play that position for Atalanta and Morton definitely isn’t. Enough of this “he can play there” nonsense, get a specialist. We won nothing until we got Fabinho and we’ll win nothing until we get one.

I can guarantee a lot of people moaning about the slot appointment won’t have even heard of Amorim before a few weeks ago!

I won’t lie, I’m not an expert on either coach but all we can do now is get behind slot and the players next season.

I don’t really see that Amorim and Slot’s records are too dissimilar, given that Dutch league and Portuguese league are probably similar standards, other than Slot has taken a team to a European final. Amorim tried playing everyone and failed, in doing so talked his way out of the job. Slot has come out, didn’t need to be asked twice and backed himself, and not in a cringey David Brent way that Bodgers did. He could easily have taken the job at Spurs or Chelsea last summer but opted for another year at Feyenoord and better options presented themselves now as he was certainly on the list for Bayern, Milan and Barcelona (at least until Xavi changed his mind) .
