Not strictly Liverpool related Eds but as we have a number of important players involved - do you have any thoughts or info as to whether AFCON will still go ahead given the new variant of this pesky sickness and the travel bans we are seeing?

{Ed002's Note - As it stands Confederation of African Football responded to concerns raised by the European Club Association that there are no issues in Cameroon so it should be fine.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Africa is a big place it’s Southern Africa that’s effected and the new variant has killed zero and has 1% chance of rec.v. for unvaccinated so why would they cancel? They could catch C.V. going to the supermarket!

Erm, let’s see, maybe because there will be thousands of fans travelling between African countries, many of whom won’t be vaccinated as the rates over there are extremely low, along with hundreds of football players and their entourage from countries across Europe who will all then need to go back home to their home base.

Oh, and as they only discovered it about 10 days ago it seems a bit premature to talk about zero deaths….

Andy I think the worry would be the amount of tests being taken across Africa will be minimal compared to Europe so your not going to find out people have it if your not being tested regularly.

10 days 0 deaths is better than either of the original C.V. variants…. and how do we know it’s not been longer than 10 days? These things don’t just appear it’s been going on longer than 10 days.

Come on. See the game that is being played. Almost everyone will announce lower economic numbers and growth rates. Worldwide. And up comes along a variant that can be blamed for it. Simple.
