I enjoyed that. (more than I thought I would)

That's the first time this season, I've seen everyone up for the fight, all working hard for each other n that's how you get the crowd behind you, even Slot on the line bouncing up n down, if we get anything out of this season that's gotta be a blueprint on how we should play.
18 Mar 2026 23:01:55
Coming out the match tonight, there was talk of offering Arne a new 3 year contract. Not sure if anyone else on here heard something similar. 😊
19 Mar 2026 08:13:31
He should be on a rolling contract. If he gets the team playing like this he stays until the next game.
:)
18 Mar 2026 22:39:50
We need to bring that intensity on Saturday.
Be aggressive from minute one.
The 442 worked.
That slow buildup better be in the bin now.
It must be balanced with defence but when we are attacking, we need to do things quickly. Ping that ball around.
I'll be sickened if we re flat Saturday. We don't have the luxury to be flat anymore. Time to play.
18 Mar 2026 22:10:03
Best performance of the season. Great tactics and team set up from Slot, credit to him tonight. The lads all played well. Magnificent. Please please please just play this way till the end of the season now. Well done everyone. Special mention to Mo for his 50th in Europe. On to Brighton.
18 Mar 2026 22:42:14
What about Maca's goal being disallowed? Unbelievable how VAR saw something wrong with the goal; it is beyond me. I thought it was just in prem that VAR were rubbish.
Also, I have never seen a player stretchered off because he cut his finger!!!!
YNWA.
18 Mar 2026 23:31:25
Apparently he went into shock when he saw his finger. It does happen, I hope he's ok.
19 Mar 2026 00:04:40
But you'd have to wonder how someone gets to that level of the game in a contact sport, when he goes into shock because of a cut finger.
I've had gashes on both legs and my head, broken bones, a dislocated shoulder and numerous other injuries from playing football, and you always just take it as part of the game.
As an old manager said to me once after I'd fractured my eye socket, if you can't handle the injuries don't play the game.
I guess footballers these days aren't as double hard as me. (I was screaming like a little girl, which is what made my manager say that.)
19 Mar 2026 00:26:29
People go into shock for lots of different reasons. I hate that we take these blanket assumptions on people and how they should respond to certain situations.
Albeydered, the ref called the foul. VAR didn't overrule it.
19 Mar 2026 00:30:11
Varry, some people are just exceptionally squeamish with blood. We also don't know the extent of the cut. It could have partially severed his digit, which would likely put most people into shock.
19 Mar 2026 02:29:03
Well, they were allowed one real injury for 15 they tried to fake tonight. YNWA.
19 Mar 2026 06:26:41
Varry Benison, are you Jay Cartwright?
19 Mar 2026 07:03:53
Haha, Jay Cartwright.
You know, Varry one time played on with two broken legs, and David Beckham came up to him and asked him to play at Madrid with him, but he said no, and gave him some tips on taking better free kicks.
19 Mar 2026 08:08:31
There are some tarts on here defending going into shock as a result of a cut finger.
19 Mar 2026 10:17:45
Severed thumb you womble. bit bigger then a cut
18 Mar 2026 22:08:12
Great result tonight, but you know Slot will come out and make it all about him. Klopp would say the boys deserve the credit, but Slot will go on about the changes he made blah blah blah. Watch us get beat on Saturday.
18 Mar 2026 22:28:07
Great result tonight, but you know some fans would still find a way to complain about Slot.
18 Mar 2026 22:28:58
Still berating Slot after that result. 🤷♂️
18 Mar 2026 22:33:50
So, one result fixes everything for you? How do you think we'll fare against PSG when Slot instills his magic tactics.
18 Mar 2026 22:34:03
Just enjoy the moment, Barry.
18 Mar 2026 22:39:46
Great result, that's what we've been waiting for. Best performance since the Madrid game. Hopefully, end of season momentum and some of the same tactical fearlessness we showed tonight. Great atmosphere too.
18 Mar 2026 23:01:28
Begs the question: will he revert back to sideways, backwards football against Brighton?
Just play like that, take the training wheels off and go for it.
18 Mar 2026 23:05:55
We beat Galatasaray... it's nothing to write home about. Their away record in Europe is absolutely shocking; they've lost 13/15. Delighted with the result, great win, but nothing more than what should be expected against a second rate team who were playing for the draw without a single fan in the stadium.
Nice confidence boost for the lads, hopefully they can build off it, but I wouldn't expect that sort of performance to translate.
18 Mar 2026 23:11:13
Exactly, Galatasaray were shocking. Worse than Tottenham.
18 Mar 2026 23:18:16
Remember, guys, whoever we beat, it's not because we played well, it's because the other team sucks. End of discussion.
18 Mar 2026 23:39:44
A fantastic performance and result, you can only beat the team that's in front of you. Frustrating that it's taken all season to have a performance like that, but let's enjoy it.
19 Mar 2026 00:28:26
Haven't watched the post-match, but I hope Slot does make it all about himself.
All the critical analysts are making it out that he is responsible for all of our failings this season.
So why not give yourself a pat on the back.
After a performance like that, he deserves it.
19 Mar 2026 00:49:42
"Tonight is not about tactics. It's mainly about the work they've put in and the support we got from the fans. And then of course the tactics can help. But this work rate, this intensity, this combination of play is always more important than tactics."
Doesn't sound like a guy who is making it all about him.
I suppose you could take the above and say "See, he doesn't even bother with tactics."
:)
19 Mar 2026 02:34:28
Barryw33, I don't get why, after a great performance from the team, we have to jump straight on Slot's back and go after him, saying it's all about him.
Klopp did the same sometimes, and used to blame all sorts when we lost.
So much negativity all the time. We won in 2005 with a rubbish team, and that's the magic we have in this comp.
Well done lads, and more of the same, please!!
19 Mar 2026 00:13:45
Let's enjoy it Willo but let's also remember that Slot is the anti christ and no matter what he or the team does we still have to find a way to criticise him after every game, every press conference, every interview and if we see a boiled egg.
It's great to win games and play well but let's not lose sight of the real reason we follow Liverpool and that's to carry out a complete character assassination of the Dutch bloke with the shiny head.
18 Mar 2026 18:24:25
Watching Newcastle, Tonali does get around the pitch, similar to Dom, Barcelona are as bad as us at defending, thrilling game.
18 Mar 2026 19:30:26
Tonali isn't as technically gifted as Dom, but he's a decent player, if a little injury prone.
We used to talk about how European teams can't cope with English teams' intensity, but I think it's the other way around now.
We've become so used to playing a defensive, set piece heavy game this season that, as soon as a team plays decent football against us, we don't know what to do.
City, Chelsea, Spurs and now Newcastle are just getting ripped open with decent passing and intelligent running. We literally don't have a team that plays that way in the Premier League anymore.
18 Mar 2026 19:31:21
Correction, they don't have to defend when they go forward, they've got some exciting talent.
18 Mar 2026 19:32:29
Is the PL the farmers league?
18 Mar 2026 19:42:53
Yes, JK... manure farms.
18 Mar 2026 19:44:14
It is now JK.
18 Mar 2026 19:48:26
I guess you could say that, JK, but I've never called any other league a farmers league. What does that even mean?
I think the Premier League is certainly the most competitive league, but largely due to incompetent refereeing, allowing set pieces to be impossible to defend, we've gone down this set piece rabbit hole.
Teams don't have to play good football to win games anymore, so when we've come up against slick, footballing sides, and refs won't allow fouls at set pieces, they've been ripped open.
18 Mar 2026 19:53:40
Didn't see that result coming... Not that score, anyway.
18 Mar 2026 22:39:40
The team played really well, but unless they go to Brighton and play with the same passion and intensity, then you have to wonder how much of the season is to blame on their personal desire to succeed.
Slot is not the man for Liverpool, but he is also not solely responsible for this season's demise.
18 Mar 2026 18:57:53
The arrogance of some fans that think football started with the Premier League is unreal. I've just seen a video of a football podcast. One of the guests said No player who played before the 1970s would make it today. He went on to say a team made from those players wouldn't beat today's Notts Forest team.
Well, off the top of my head Yashin, Moore, Beckenbauer, Giacinto Facchetti, Tommy Gemmell, Best, Smith, Charlton, Greaves, Pele, Eusebio. I'm sure that team with all players at their peak would give Forest a game. You could make 3 teams with legends with all there were.
18 Mar 2026 22:27:45
Would they be playing a football match or having a diving contest? That would determine the winner.
18 Mar 2026 22:34:04
Di Stefano, Puskas, Gordon Banks, Duncan Edwards, Jairzinho,
Bloody stupid comment by the podcasters.
19 Mar 2026 00:20:35
Modern players wouldn't make it to half time intact against the players of yesteryear.
18 Mar 2026 17:34:31
ED001 If your about. I know Roy Hodgson gets a load of stick n I wasn't his greatest fan either but I thought he was up against it when he became our manager, he had a very average team n little money to spend, he was never an adventurous manager in the first place.
So I thought he was always set to fail, do you know about who hired him etc and what the thought was behind it.
{Ed001's Note - we were a mess and he was seen as the best option to bring stability. He was used to managing on a budget and creating a steady defensive platform. There weren't a lot of options at the time as we were such a mess.}
18 Mar 2026 18:34:26
We were an absolute mess, but saying things like 'we aren't too big for a relegation battle' and the infamous window of Poulsen, Konchesky and Joe Cole didn't do him many favours. Nice enough guy, but not suited to us at all.
Definitely the lowest period whilst I've supported the club, but made me cherish the highs more. So in a way glad it happened, but even happier when it was over!
18 Mar 2026 18:33:07
Comparing apples with oranges here, but which spell would you say you're more displeased with Ed001. Slot this season or Hodgson's reign?
{Ed001's Note - Slot as he has the tools to do better.}
18 Mar 2026 18:59:11
Is it Comolli who decided to hire him Ed? Or is it Edwards? I don't remembered if Edwards is acting as our DoF at the time or whether it is Comolli. Or whether the transfer committee is already in place at the time.
{Ed001's Note - it was prior to the committee, but I can't remember who it was. Wasn't it before Comolli as well?}
18 Mar 2026 19:08:14
Cheers Ed001, looking forward to a pod once Slot goes. I still remember the one you did when Bodgers got the boot!
{Ed001's Note - you have a great memory.}
18 Mar 2026 19:34:04
Martin Broughton was behind the Hodgson appointment, if I recall.
18 Mar 2026 19:45:37
Cheers for the reply Ed001.on here he always gets slated but I think it was unfair on him with the cards he got dealt at Liverpool
18 Mar 2026 22:12:07
Wasn't it Christian Purslow who brought Hodgson in?
18 Mar 2026 22:35:37
Yeah I thought it was Purslow too.
Broughton at least got us away from Hicks and Gillett's grubby hands.
18 Mar 2026 22:38:53
I'm going to say it... I liked Poulsen when he first came in. :) Konchesky was proper carp. Poor Joe got sent off in his first game, trying too hard to impress and justify himself. On paper he looked like a good signing.
