Does anyone think we need a leader at the back?. especially if Sakho is leaving (I'm not saying Sakho is a leader but he set a good example and has the right mentality). I think we all know Skrtel is not that person.

Let's use arsenal as an example, for about 6 seasons it wad they need a leader leader leader sodding leader. They needed a dm. Wow what happens they get ine and has anyone mentioned them needing a leader at that back?
Liverpool need to get a top top dm. Before I get critised for what I'm going to say is this. Lucas was on his way to being world class in his position, I never use to like him as a player - I'll admit it. Then watching him I'm daglishes first full season and wow he was phenomenal, quick, great passing. And then that new injury against Chelsea and I'm sorry but he is not the same player. I was so sorry for him because he had earned all what he was going to get and we really looked good, we battered everyone united, Chelsea & city. Not always winning but deserving too. I even think we had hit the post like a hundred times. Adam, dowbimg were looking good and literally lucas got injured and we didn't get back to that level again.
And nor has lucas. He isn't and won't be that player again, I think it's the biggest crime in the game Injuries because they hit anyone at anytime and if someone didn't deserve it' it was lucas.
As I said thougj you watch if Liverpool get the best dm they can, we will improve ten fold.
Don't get me wrong lucas us still a good player but he's to injury prone nowadays and also stuck at a level.
If wr get a cdm & gk next summer wr are title contenders unfortunately it isn't going to happen this window and frankly it could lose Brendan his job, because they have addressed all the wrong areas.
Cech and carvalho/Medel this would of been better.
I hope it's on thete minds to address this and that Brendan doesn't believe he needs one because we won't achieve anything without ine.

We had one, It was Agger, one of the few players who actually could get the best out of Skrtel. I don´t think the problem is that we need a leader at the back, more that we need defenders who actually can do basic defending, and not run out of position at any given opputunity while not communicating with the players around him.
Our Cb paring didn´t work last season, and at the moment it looks like it will be the same, so don´t expect that we will get better defense wise. Perhaps Rodgers want to outscore the opponents like we did 2 seasons ago?

No I think we should have said our goodbyes to skrtle this year.
Until he's gone, we won't have a settled defence unless we start to play deep.

A DM might make a bad backline look less bad.
Why do people keep banging on about papering over cracks rather than acknowledging that there is a crack.
Fix the fruitella crack then think about wallpaper.
Otherwise next year will be an attacking success but the defence will hold us back and another transitional year will be behind us. Then we will lose some attackers, spend the summer replacing them, still have the same defence and keeper and repeat the process. Nuts.

Also the majority of the time Agger and skrtel played together it was with mash or lucas infort them and also gerrard in his quicker days

Spot on that about Lucas under Kenny maestroRed. That injury against Chelsea Aldo ruined the season.

I think everyone misses the point when referring to agger and skrtel.
Yes they were good.
But so was reina and the midfield whether it be alonso and mash or mash and lucas or just lucas.
Now it is Mignolet behind them and noone in front because we have everyone presses and getting walked out of position because there recovery rate isn't great and that leaves so much space in behind. If you want to play the pressing game then you have to have a minimum - to make sure you don't concede loads - of a solid diamond gk cb cb cdm and they need to be more rigid whilst the rest attack and press
But not having a top class sweeper keeper and a top class dm is why we have all them problems.
Noone can prove me wrong when referring ti Liverpool
Mignolet is god awful and tell me why he is good without saying he had loads of clean sheets
Lucas isn't the player he was
Gerrard was dm in title season or 50 goals conceded season.
I'm tell use all now if you walk busquests, matic, medel or someone at dm and a better goal keeper, we're guaranteed top 3 easy peasy.

The problem is playing lovren! Not skrtel. Lovren is our new konchesky. Not saying skrtel is great, but its a crime not to play sakho

If Lovren is our Konchesky, then Skrtel is Poulsen. Sakho and ILori should be our CB pairing but clueless Brendan will never see sense.

BR is the prob because he bought Lovren and kept Skrtel hence if they are poor, whose fault is that and what are they still doing here?
