if coutinho does eventually leave i wish him all the best be sad to see him go tho. feel sorry for klopp having to work with his hands tied how long did it take to get the salah deal done. as for the owners i think there pretty deluded if they think we can challange for the title the champions league and cups with the sqaud we've got think its about time they started splashing the cash, do they even know the names of most of the l. pool squad i doubt it. my god they only turn up twice a season to watch a game. sorry for the rant eds keep up the good work.

{Ed002's Note - Well Steve, let me break it to you, like Tommy Smith, one day Coutinho will leave Liverpool. No, I didn't really want to break this to you, but like Olaf Tryggvason, one day Coutinho will die.}

You're on fire today Ed. transfer window and endless repeated questions starting to chip away at your sanity?

Here's one for you (and Ed01/ Ed25) - assuming Coutinho goes, would you suggest Liverpool
A) look to bring in an all rounder midfielder (like Keita or Gomes) and push Lallana/ Gini a bit further forward or
B) try to replace Coutinho like for like with another attacking midfielder/ forward (like Ox)
C) get a top striker and drop Firmino a little deeper

Who would your top pick be of who's potentially available right now?

{Ed001's Note - I do not see anyone in any of those categories around that would be worth getting in to replace Couts. There is no one near his level. I would rather we concentrated on getting the best centre back possible.}

That would be VVD then Ed001. Klopp's wettest dream so far.
My personal preference is Manolas. Sure there are disciplinary issues but he is a defender that brings leadership and grit to a backline that is too soft under Klopp right now. Damn good in the air as well.
But we do need to replace Coutinho imo. Where is the creativity in midfield going to come from when teams park the bus?
Midfielders like Coric, Kovacic, Isco could certainly make the difference and are better than sticking Milner in midfield.

{Ed001's Note - I don't see a lack of creativity in the way we play, a playmaker, as such, is not essential. However one would be nice, just not Isco, I don't understand the fascination with such an average player.}

Kovacic is my personal favorite to replace Coutinho. Not the same player but more like a young Stevie G.

When replacing Coutinho you have to remember he contributed 20 goals a season, so the player coming in should be similar quality, Kovacic isn't similar quality.

Being very frank, there is not a player available in the market that can replace Coutinho's quality and who would want to join us now. Kovacic is struggling to get games at Real and would fit in perfectly in Klopp's midfield. Not sure if we are interested, but he is the kind of player that will keep our midfield solid and ticking.

Obviously I know he was never bought as a replacement and god knows I don't want couts to leave but, we have bought in another dangerous, goal scoring attacker in salah. Can he not just be the "replacement"? We alter our game slightly, attack with guile and pace down the wings rather than funnelling everything through Phil? We have a few decent attackin midfield options, if we can't find a genuine replacement should we not keep our powder dry and strengthen at the back?

Isco is not average, he has been un-droppable for the best team in the world for the past 6 months and is still relatively young. Took a while to find his feet but he is loved in Madrid now.

Frankly

What don't you name a player who will contribute 20 goals willing to come in the 11th hour? Kovacic is a central playmaker, He is excellent in passing and carrying the ball in tight areas something we heavily rely on Coutinho! He also had the best dribbling stats in la liga last summer. If not Modric he would be starting at Real!
There are no like to like replacement for Coutinho. If there was one Barcelona wouldn't splash £120 mill on him!
