Ed002, can I ask if Neymar transfer is at all related to Barcelona approach for coutinho? I don't want to get into money side of things but if I remember correctly I read on here some time ago that giving Messi a new contract would financially be very expensive to them and id they didn't sell Neymar would they be able to complete let's say a €100m transfer for coutinho aswel as what they have already spent? (I think they recently purchased semedo from benfica and I'm not sure if they have bought anyone else)

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with it - Barcelona want an Iniesta replacement and Coutinho is second choice and has been for a long time - and they cannot get their first pick. They do need to move players on and will be doing that.}

Agree0 Disagree5

Cheers for quick response ed, troubling times ahead for lfc fans me thinks. Appreciate all the work you do on these sites.

{Ed002's Note - Business as usual.}

Not troubling to me, football is a business we'd do well as fans to support the club not the individual, the same way we want players that other fans do not want to leave, why are we so different, especially when they want to leave, i say thank you for the memories coutinho, if you do go and if that happens ill still be singing #YNWA no player is bigger than lfc lads.

I think if Barcelona sign Coutinho then Neymar will stay. Neymar has Barcelona over a barrel as they know Neymar is their future on and off the pitch. Coutinho's head has been turned, and I believe it's all about trying to get as high a fee as possible for him and utilising that money correctly to bring in a replacement and strengthen other areas. I really hope none of this comes to fruition.

Dybala and Verratti. I believe Barcelona have wanted.

I am In agreement; with the silly money being thrown around at the moment liverpool should be looking for a world record fee for Coutinho so take Mbappe as a guide €160m and Barcelona are offering less than half that? They have to make him the most expensive player in the world or he doesn't move this season simple as. Klopp doesn't strike me as the same type of guy as BR and won't be bullied.

Ed002, who's a first choice?

{Ed002's Note - Verratti.}

26 Jul 2017 10:04:16
As well as Ousmane Dembele of BVB. Don't care what Barcelona and their mouthpieces in the Spanish media say, Couts must not be sold this summer regardless of the offer.

If the money is right they will sell its called business.

{Ed025's Note - its called "shooting yourself in the foot" for me FJ..

26 Jul 2017 11:21:27
There is no point buying a world class player to replace a world class player. That's called standing still and not progressing.

Lovely post mane. s.

Fowlerjock, it is actually in our case, shooting yourself in both feet.

Selling your most productive assets isn't good business unless you can replace them with just as productive assets for less money.

Given agents fees, relocation costs, sign on bonuses, new wages, time it takes for new players to settle and an overinflated market right now I don't see us replacing Coutinho without it actually costing us. probably even at 100m.

I'm afraid if coutinho wants to leave, we need to get the best price and get rid. Whilst a great player he flits in and out of games. He obviously stands out in our team, but it's not the end of the world. Salah looks like a great replacement. Just saying.

27 Jul 2017 10:50:15
if he wants to leave he should not have signed that contract, end of discusion, also if he wants to leave he hands in a transfer request, he will not get 5% for wanting to leave, that's a bunch of clown jokes.

27 Jul 2017 11:05:29
It called buisness?

NO its NOT, this god damn FOOTBALL and we are sick of mediocrity!

27 Jul 2017 13:13:04
Liverpool wanted him to sign that contract so we could get the best price. Barcelona had already been making noises, that's why he was given the contract. Loyal players are few and far between, he's Brazilian who has played in Brazil, Italy and England. Why wouldn't he move to Spain? With the kind of money involved, it is business. That's modern football.
