Hi all, love the site. Nice little rumour for you, not sure if there's an ITK who can confirm? My brother's brother-in-law plays golf with 'AC', part of the Aston Villa scout team. As well as Villa, Liverpool have built an extensive player profile on Christos Mouzakitis going back 18 months starting when he was an academy lad.
Only 18, and would be a sale and loan for another yr back if any deal is to be made. As well as Villa and Liverpool, both Milan sides and Madrid are interested.
18 Mar 2026 18:01:08
Wow, looks talented, but hard to judge at the level he's playing, plus YouTube vids could make me look half decent, but I have to say, kind of reminds me of the man I hope is his manager next season, Alonso.
18 Mar 2026 18:20:03
Loves a tackle, this kid. Reminds me of Joao Neves in his style. Very left footed though.
18 Mar 2026 19:02:39
Wow. He looks a talent, to be fair. Hope he stacks up in real life and not just highlights. But that was a good watch.
18 Mar 2026 22:11:11
Golf with Andy Carroll... Crouch and his putter springs to mind.
17 Mar 2026 21:16:18
Apparently Arne Slot and his agent have been in talks regarding taking over at Ajax next season. Can any of ITKS confirm this?
17 Mar 2026 21:50:40
Indykaika at it again.
17 Mar 2026 21:52:46
Use the search. It's been discussed numerous times.
17 Mar 2026 23:11:20
I heard it's not even for Ajax senior team. It seemed it's for the youth team, where it suits Arne Slot's tinkering style. Tinkering 1 season to get it right is ok for a youth team.
18 Mar 2026 03:04:46
Maybe he can take Gakpo along too?
18 Mar 2026 04:08:35
As posted before by one of the itk, I can't remember which one, but both Spurs and Ajax want him.
18 Mar 2026 09:56:28
If he takes a job in the Netherlands after us, then I think it says a lot about his mentality and priorities. A Liverpool title on his record could get him a big job in any country.
Fair enough if he wants to be with his family. He'll be set for life. But, I think, to manage a team like Liverpool, you need to have a bit more of a ruthless and determined personality.
18 Mar 2026 10:04:39
No idea if there's any truth in it, but generally, if you are a coach that is coming up to the final year of your contract, you might instruct your agent to talk to some clubs about potential roles - whether you are seriously looking or want to put pressure on your current employers to consider renewal.
If the rumours about him already knowing he's a caretaker until the end of the season, his agent will, of course, be looking for the next opportunity. While we all think the Premier League is the best, I would expect the prestige of the Ajax job would be quite the draw for any Dutch manager.
18 Mar 2026 10:22:11
Why is it a bad thing that a Dutchman might want to be with his family in Holland?
18 Mar 2026 11:47:59
I didn't say it was a bad thing for him. Is it a good thing for Liverpool if the manager's priorities are elsewhere?
18 Mar 2026 12:23:10
I posted about this a while back. Not sure if you can search that far back.
But there have certainly been talks, and interest on both sides, and it still remains.
18 Mar 2026 15:07:48
Isn't an ex-Feyenoord manager going to Ajax like an LFC manager going to MUFC? Does it show he has no regard for the fans?
18 Mar 2026 15:43:28
Loyalty and regard. Two-way things.
18 Mar 2026 17:27:50
@livered, I was making a general comment, not replying specifically to you. I also didn't say that his priority, at the moment, isn't Liverpool.
18 Mar 2026 18:01:30
Arne paints his face orange every night, and chants Hup Holland Hup before bed, and always has at least one segment of Edam on his nightstand. It's not true he sleeps in clogs and has a photo of Rutger Hauer above his fireplace, though. Vicious lies, meat to demean our great leader.
17 Mar 2026 20:05:05
I follow KopTalk on YouTube and an interestingly titled video popped up on my feed so I gave it a watch. According to Dunc, a source who has given him reliable information in the past has tipped him off that Slot and his agent have been summoned to a high level meeting by the club for 10:30 on Friday. No other details were given.
Provided this is true, this can realistically mean one of three things:
A) The club will inform him that they are not offering him a new contract and they plan to terminate his existing contract at the end of the season.
B) The club will inform him that they are not offering him a new contract and they will terminate his contract at the international break.
C) The club wish to open negotiations over a new contract.
What it almost certainly means is that we are stuck with him until the international break. There will be no immediate firing after Galatasaray but I think most of us already suspected that.
17 Mar 2026 20:41:09
Don't listen to that guy, he's absolutely full of air.
17 Mar 2026 20:50:40
I'm gone past defending him, and I realise he's more than likely gone in the summer. But I have to say I'm always amazed at phrases like we're stuck with him. The bloke has won two leagues and a cup in the previous three seasons, and got to another final, but lost. 😆
17 Mar 2026 20:54:23
A bit like most of the "ITK" on here then! Dunc has a proven track record of providing decent info for years, pal.
17 Mar 2026 20:54:47
You'd be better off listening to a random window cleaner.
17 Mar 2026 20:57:04
Option C incoming.
17 Mar 2026 21:04:05
Florian, who cares what he achieved in Dutch football? Every Dutch manager who comes to England ends up stinking and his achievements at Feyenoord are of no relevance to us. I don't think "stuck with him" is below the belt at all seeing as his tactics and coaching (or more pertinently lack of) are the main reasons we will miss out on the Champions League places this year.
17 Mar 2026 21:55:28
I couldn't care less what he's done in previous seasons. I care what he's doing in the present, and he's done/doing zilch.
17 Mar 2026 22:37:19
Expecting the meeting to get cancelled for some unforeseen scenario.
Sorry, I don't believe Dunk has any sources.
17 Mar 2026 22:53:29
Florian says he's given up defending the bloke, then tries to defend him! Wow. Ha ha.
18 Mar 2026 07:26:35
Stopped watching lop talk after a few videos, the bloke is a proper
🔔end
18 Mar 2026 07:59:26
Babbity, he said two leagues, including the Premier League. Maybe you don't care about what he did in Holland, but he did win the Prem.
18 Mar 2026 08:34:09
I find it hard to not support Slot. He helped the team win us the Premier League last season, before Easter.
That showed me if you give him the right tools he is capable of doing a good job. And before the haters bring out the "but his football is s***" statement. What Premier League team is playing attacking, free flowing football?
I am old and have been watching The Reds through the Keegan, Hughes, Dalglish, Souness, Rush and Molby, Barnes and Beardsley good times. Through the something is missing 90s, the getting nearer noughties to finally Klopp's got me believing bums off seats era.
Klopp would have won us the title last season if he didn't leave. I honestly believe that, but not as head coach.
This season has been a hard watch, but I blame the two who are making the decisions and Slot isn't one of them, and when the players know that the coach is just a coach and start organising meetings themselves to fix things, the writing is on the wall.
Jota dying is not an excuse, it was a sad interruption to the season and also a main part of our pressing forward line disappearing.
I know that if we give Slot the right tools and a bit of time he can win us the league again. Why? Because he has proved he can.
I don't like the way he is being singled out for the decline of Salah and Virgil. He said at the start of the season he was left short of what he was promised, but it was still good enough to challenge, and he wasn't to know that two of his defenders and the most expensive signing would miss most of the season.
He does make mistakes, and his failure to trust certain young players and Chiesa to replace underperforming players is one of them. The constant moving positions of his best performing players from match to match is another.
FSG will make the right decision for themselves; if Slot goes, so should Hughes and Edwards.
I was brought up believing in continuity: if it works, keep it. Slot's coaching has won us the league. Hughes' direction hasn't.
18 Mar 2026 08:56:46
We always hear the 'if Slot had his way' or 'the new signings were not his choice'. Yet Wirtz has come out and said it was Slot who convinced him to join with his Slot Vision of football.
Also, correct me if i'm wrong Ed001 but you told us Slot really wanted Isak to be signed.
So our two biggest acquisitions of the summer were Slots choices.
{Ed001's Note - that is correct mate.}
18 Mar 2026 09:45:36
Where did I say Slot didn't want the signings he got? I said there were players he asked for that he didn't get.
Let's judge Isak and Wirtz when they start playing together after an undisturbed pre-season.
You want him gone, fine, but you don't have to bring other people's opinions to argue against my post.
I said he has got a lot of things wrong. I didn't mention the signings the club made. Have a nice day.
18 Mar 2026 10:00:46
Its true, Brentford, Bournemouth, Leeds, Sunderland, and Man City are playing decent football, even Wolves are playing decent football.
So unfair to tar every team with the same brush, mate.
The worst football to watch: Arsenal, Liverpool.
18 Mar 2026 10:24:21
@Babbity, Option 4, the club agree to let him work out his contract for the 26/27 season.
18 Mar 2026 10:47:53
I do not agree. They play to their strengths, but what is decent football.
We have played some good games this season, but not consistently.
The players we pay to put the ball in the net are not taking their chances, or are not available. And we are losing points at the end of the games because we are short in defense, availability, lack of trust, not enough heart. I don't know, but Slot has tried everything at his disposal and it hasn't worked.
I am just saying you need the players on board, and when you are relying on players who see their future away from the club, you are under pressure to win every game.
Let's get one thing straight, I don't agree with everything he has done. I still think with the players on form he can still win things for us.
18 Mar 2026 11:33:47
MynameisB, if the players are getting so many days off, then Slot clearly hasn't tried everything at his disposal.
18 Mar 2026 11:34:10
Brentford, Bournemouth, Leeds, Sunderland, City, and Wolves are playing good football?! Wolves are playing better than they did before, but to say they are playing objectively 'good football'? Brentford? Bournemouth can be great to watch at times, but more often than not when I watch them they are participating in 0-0 and 1-1 draws. Sunderland have tailed off, and were knocked out by Port Vale in the FA Cup.
City blow hot and cold, have been absolutely tepid in several games recently, and are extremely reliant on Haaland for goals. Brentford and Sunderland were recently comfortably beaten by Brighton, whom we have had no problems outplaying this season.
Are you certain you have been watching those teams consistently? I admit that I haven't, but when I have, none of these teams are incredibly impressive to me.
18 Mar 2026 13:06:31
When I see the value Eze brings vs Wirtz, what a load of wasted $ we spent on Wirtz.
18 Mar 2026 14:00:32
Now we want players to play 3 times a week and train every day? Maybe the odd day off when we are not playing 3 games a week or on international duty is one of the things he's tried.
18 Mar 2026 16:56:47
The only difference between Dunc and the clown who does the Anfield Agenda is Dunc occasionally speaks sense. If either of them is your source, you may as well go on X and take the heathens on there as gospel.
{Ed001's Note - what's Anfield Agenda? I have never heard of that.}
18 Mar 2026 18:27:23
Some absolute weapon who does news, rumours and match coverage on youtube Ed1. Be glad you don't know who he is 😂
{Ed001's Note - ah ok. I will not bother if I ever do see him.}
18 Mar 2026 19:42:19
He's actually not afraid to say his opinions and can back them up. He is a passionate fan and isn't afraid to speak out on how bad the football currently is. AA is worth a watch.
17 Mar 2026 16:27:46
Direct from horse’s mouth - I am a window cleaner in Formby and have been doing one of the lad’s houses for the last 3 yrs.
Anyway we got chatting when the windows were done yday afternoon. Slot has always said to the team and the powers that be that his side is built for the Champions League.
Because of the huge £££££ they don’t want an inexperienced interim instead as they don’t think any of them will deliver the big one.
The player said the lads are all confident we make it through in which case he’ll still be here.
All the eggs are in the CL basket.
A few of the suits think we have no chance. A couple agree the team are more suited to the European footy.
If we limp out tomorrow, it’s game over for Arne and Stevie G is in.
Nice one.
17 Mar 2026 16:41:36
A proper old-school rumour, but absolute nonsense nonetheless.
17 Mar 2026 16:44:44
I reckon we go for Chamois Alonso... what a great putty player.... just different glass.... By the way, are you a spy for the Glazers. 🤔
17 Mar 2026 16:45:10
It's been said on here many times that our team is better suited to European football. Unfortunately, even if we overturn the first leg deficit and make it through, there is no chance whatsoever that we even come close to beating PSG without a big change in the way we play.
17 Mar 2026 16:47:25
Am I the only one left here not in ITK?
17 Mar 2026 17:00:19
I was told by a good source that you are the one and only funky.
17 Mar 2026 17:00:39
Beaten by Galatasaray twice and hammered by PSV at home. Yep, built for the CL, alright.
17 Mar 2026 17:32:18
The owners need their windows cleaning if they took the word of that fraud. We've been hit and miss in it all season.
17 Mar 2026 17:38:56
Eh, hello. Seriously, lads, this is a window cleaner rumour. There are no better ITKs than window cleaners. It's been too long since we had a bona fide window cleaner rumour. Please, for the love of all things trivial, let's have some respect for this nugget. Well done @cleansheets.
17 Mar 2026 17:31:40
FFS Funky, you have a day to be ITK or leave. with Slot!
17 Mar 2026 18:37:07
Man, gotta love a good old style rumour! Thanks, buddy.
17 Mar 2026 18:39:49
A window cleaner from Formby?
Are you called George, by any chance, and own a banjo?
17 Mar 2026 18:52:33
Bring back Benitez for the interim.
17 Mar 2026 19:07:09
We are not built for Champions League over the league at all, that's Jamie Carragher nonsense. We have played the midfield that started last season strong in loads of games, Mac Grave and Sobs, and they don't cover the ground anymore because of fitness levels.
The reason we have had better results in the Champions League is because the levels in there are awful, that's why Spurs look like they are going to get relegated but finished 4th in the Champions League.
But now it is the business end, and the best teams are left. If we get through against a very, very poor defending Galatasaray, we won't go anywhere more because PSG will destroy us more than they did last season, because we are so much worse than this time last season.
17 Mar 2026 19:08:42
So built for Europe that we limped out to PSG last year, and have been put to the sword three times already in this season's competition. The way we're playing, we're not going to last much longer in the tournament. Can't see us getting past Galatasaray, as they already have the measure of us and we had nothing to offer against them.
17 Mar 2026 19:43:18
Limped out on peno's to the eventual champions. Where are the words?
17 Mar 2026 19:46:55
You're not the window cleaner who used to do Tony Cottee's windows, are ya. 😅
17 Mar 2026 19:53:24
Florian we were dominated by PSG last season Villa gave them a better game sometimes the result doesn't paint the full picture.
Stop making yourself look foolish.
17 Mar 2026 20:15:54
Ah, yes, the great 'I'm a high class window cleaner... Clint Dempsey is nailed on because he had a screensaver of the Wirral on his computer... I saw it with my own eyes.'
17 Mar 2026 20:54:09
Grino, absolutely nailed it. PSG could have battered us by 3 or 4 goals in either leg.
And yes, Florian, we limped out.
As for the penalties, two of the worst penalty misses I've ever seen a Liverpool player make, both absolute brainless efforts, thinking they could beat a keeper of that quality. Jones should be banned from ever taking another penalty for the club.
17 Mar 2026 22:01:09
Building ur team for the Champions League, and not ur bread and butter, deserves the sack, especially when they're not even fit enough to clean windows.
17 Mar 2026 22:11:52
10/10 for the proper old school rumour!
17 Mar 2026 15:26:26
Hi Diddly Ho,
Not a rumour, just a question as my source is no longer available.
With Hughes agreeing to this Saudi move (I think they’ve been in back/forth negotiations since Oct/Nov to be honest), will we see him go into gardening leave ahead of the move, as I presume he will leave at the end of the season officially.
Sorry I’ve got no updates.
Diddly out.
17 Mar 2026 15:54:00
Hey, Ned.
Presumably he just sees out the contract to the end of the season, like when playing staff contracts expire on 30th June or whatever date it is.
I'm sure that he will have an extensive handover to the new fella in charge (if there will be one).
17 Mar 2026 16:55:23
What BS is this about people agreeing deals and then see out their tenure?
Pack your rubbish and leave mate.
Thanks for everything, good luck and now piss off
17 Mar 2026 21:33:55
He should be sued for the damage he's done.
17 Mar 2026 08:22:53
Morning Gents
I've been told a new contract for Jones is due.
There is a lot of interest in him, and his agent has been talking with other clubs, but looks like he wishes to stay.
Cheers.
{Ed025's Note - nice one Robbo..
17 Mar 2026 08:42:57
Thanks, Robbo.
And, going purely on previous rumors posted on this site, I assume this would mean that a new manager is incoming...
17 Mar 2026 08:43:15
The worst news.
17 Mar 2026 08:52:15
Thanks for your updates, Robbo. Good squad player.
17 Mar 2026 09:10:26
@lfc1312, how is that the worst news? I think CJ is a brilliant squad player, he loves the club, always puts in a shift. I know it doesn't always come off, but he never stops trying. We need more players like him.
17 Mar 2026 09:22:59
Jlc, absolutely, mate. More of a when not if, a lot of changes this summer, im told.
17 Mar 2026 09:58:14
Thanks, Robbo.
Makes a lot of sense. Good versatile squad player, home-grown too.
I'm not his biggest fan, but a good one to tie down.
17 Mar 2026 10:09:27
Excellent news.
17 Mar 2026 10:10:15
CJ is a very good player, local, home grown, which is important for squad depth. We need more home grown players.
17 Mar 2026 10:22:50
I am in favour of keeping him. We need our Scouse in the team, or at least the first-team squad.
17 Mar 2026 10:25:34
I've been a supporter of Curtis for years. Not world class, but a really useful member of the squad. Always tries, doesn't hide, and is a local lad who speaks sensibly and coherently when interviewed. What players used to be called a 'great clubman'.
17 Mar 2026 10:36:32
Shouldn't be a squad player this year, should be in ahead of McAllister.
17 Mar 2026 10:57:50
Only good news is, he's British for the quota! Other than that, he's bang average for me. If he's happy to be a squad player, happy days.
17 Mar 2026 11:02:01
He should leave for the sake of his own career, in all honesty. The way he has been treated this season is nothing short of appalling.
He should have been starting most of our games this season, given the form of Mac Allister and, to a lesser degree, Gravenberch.
He has played far better on average than those two, and yet is left to rot on the bench.
It feels the club don't really respect him, so he should go and be a starter elsewhere.
17 Mar 2026 11:07:57
Curtis is a good squad player, he needs to kick on. We have waited a long time, but we only see glimpses of his talent. He needs a kick up the backside or move on. YNWA.
17 Mar 2026 11:21:36
I really hope new management also brings Elliot back into the fold.
17 Mar 2026 11:29:51
I reckon he's limited but can do a job if deployed to suit. I wouldn't play him when chasing a game as he's not dynamic or creative enough. I see his strength in helping lock down a win by keeping possession and absorbing threats by controlling the ball. He rarely gives it away. All in all, he can do a job.
17 Mar 2026 11:52:29
Describing him as mediocre would be generous. He offers very little in possession, and even less out of possession. He has no positional sense and no defensive awareness. He doesn't offer much beyond the geographical location of his birth. Certainly not worth a six-figure-a-week salary, and certainly not a starter. Bench fodder, him.
17 Mar 2026 12:28:38
Tell us how you really feel, Victor.
17 Mar 2026 12:31:31
Some odd comments - he clearly should be starting ahead of the current version of Mac Allister.
17 Mar 2026 12:41:01
Victor, I've told you before to not bottle things up! On this occasion, I agree with a lot of what you say.
17 Mar 2026 12:42:08
After all of this time, I'm not sure what Curtis' best position is. This season, his best game was probably Inter away; he was really disciplined and energetic. I'm not sure why he can't be asked to play that type of role more often. He's a decent option to have around, no doubt.
17 Mar 2026 13:17:13
Cheers Robbo, good to have a local lad in the squad.
17 Mar 2026 14:01:08
I don't think it'll be a bad thing giving Jones a new deal. If it is Alonso to come in, hopefully he would be the person to get through to Jones how to play the role. He has all the ability to be a good player, he just seems to lack the know-how to apply himself better in games. When he plays with a bit of tempo to his game he can be useful, but his mindset comes across as if he feels what he's doing when dallying on the ball, and giving his 2 yard passes after running up to the player he's passing to is doing a good job.
If it is Alonso and he can't get Jones to change his ways, then look to move him on.
17 Mar 2026 14:14:52
Some great players commenting on this thread, we should sign a few.
17 Mar 2026 14:19:05
I don't care if he leaves, and I think his place in the squad should go to somebody who can defend better.
He can't head a ball, he can't cross a ball, he has no left foot, he can't tackle, and he hardly passes forward or scores, apart from that he's the Scouser in our team, kidda.
17 Mar 2026 15:20:12
Mental that a player can play Premier League football for Liverpool over 7 seasons and have international caps for England considering how completely terrible and horrendous he is.
Some real experts and top ex pros in this thread who must have really reached the top of the game in their careers as players, coaches and managers.
We're lucky to have you all on this site - thank you.
{Ed025's Note - they are just opinions you know NK..
17 Mar 2026 16:08:13
As the Ed said it's an opinion. It's als a fact in them seven seasons at the club we have bought 6 midfielders into the clubTo prove a point. He still isn't a starter and is a legend in his own head and obviously yours. But you are entitled to your point of view.Have a nice day.
17 Mar 2026 16:14:48
Are you his babymama?
17 Mar 2026 16:15:42
Hi Ed025,
Why do I think you are having a laugh at this news? :)
RobboLFC - I think he needs to leave for his own sake. I am not sure he would realise his potential at Liverpool. He is not disciplined enough to be a number 6. Does not have Szobo's lungs to be a marauding number 8. He can play further ahead but is not creative enough and we have Wirtz for that.
In my opinion Jones would flourish in a Spurs or a Villa team.
Cheers.
{Ed025's Note - i have to admit RRH i have never been a fan of his, i like the fact he is a local lad and want him to do well but he is very underwhelming for me mate, i think of him the same as i did of Tom Davies at Everton...nice lad and all that but does just not cut the mustard imo..
17 Mar 2026 16:52:32
I can confirm. Talks have taken place between his agent and the club. He also has interest from a couple of Prem, Italian, Spanish, and German sides. Preference is to stay, but he's keeping his options open.
Just for the record, I would have him in the team over Macca. Yes, Macca is a good player, but not a great one, imo.
17 Mar 2026 17:42:37
CJ is one of my favourite players. Some of the lads here are too young to remember how pivotal Stevie Nicol was, and there's just something about Curtis that tells me how might develop under a better coach into a player we can play at right back and across the midfield.
What he needs at 25 years young is a run in the team and I don't think he's going to get that as he's not fit for any role at the moment. Maybe you'd all are right and he's a Billy Big BolliX with his Roller enormocaf but he's a local lad and he's settled. If he asks for the world, give him a map and a picture of the moon!
Maybe it's best for CJ to ho out here and to get another deal elsewhere but with a release clause so he can develop at his own leisure and then flee back to the roost. He's a proud man and he'll need options. He's an England international and he's seen enough. (Just sort out your barnet, lad!)
We need scousers in the club and we need fight. I hope the next boss just drills into these players how much the club means to our city and how as recently as the eighties we were left to fend for ourselves as the Milk Snatcher and the highups looked down at us and tried to make as a ghetto. Liverpool had the second most historic buildings in the entire country and we deserve recognition and respect, not brickbats and bulls- chants about bin dipping and poverty. Sign on? What? To the top of the league?
That King Kenny documentary is so powerful for citing how the stories tried to ghettoise our city and make us irrelevant. Now no one can. I want a Scouser to be in the team be it Curtis or someone like one of Xabi's kids.
Get the best man in and pay him what he demands. If it's Luis Enrique, spent everything and if it's a Alonso then give him ordinance over the transfers because there is a disconnect between what the head coach desires and what is brought into our club. There needs to be more synergy as Ed001 said and we need to restructure the way we do things.
This season, the failure to get the lad from Bournemouth broke my heart as he was just what we needed to rattle the opposition and beef up our front line.
There are several good honest pros in the PL who would be amenable to joining us and I'd get on the phone now and ask if the likes of Kayode or Anderson want to come. I still believe we offer a hundred times more than the Man United setup. It's just not even close in terms of quality of squad and logg by term ambition. The boys we got in summer are some of the best players in the league and that will be proved right in the season to come.
I have more to say but I'll keep my powder dry as we are entering a period where all and anything can come to pass. As the great George Harrison sang, all things must pass - and soon we set off again, Redmen, so let's be stout of heart, eager in heart and clear in vision.
The game tomorrow is ours to win now that we are back home and rested. How SLO plays this will define our endgame so it's imperative that he takes off that handbrake and let's our stars fly!

Decent keeping, Jones, given he's English, so there are no home town issues here, and he is a utility player that can play in a lot of positions. I think we need to make sure we always have a Scouser in the dressing room too. These sorts of players are needed in a team.
17 Mar 2026 18:39:17
Worse news, my arse! The ball sticks to him. Give him freedom in the 10 and he'll feed, eat a tea cake, and eye sack forever. Oh, do shut up.
18 Mar 2026 17:22:04
Bang-average player, Curtis. Wouldn't get in any other top 5 team either. As a squad player, OK maybe, but as a starter, no chance. Surely he's not going to get a bigger contract now? If he wasn't a Scouser, nobody would rate him. Much better players out there and available to Liverpool FC. I'd let him go. He doesn't offer much for me. Agree with Victor.
17 Mar 2026 07:43:14
Hello all,
Richard Hughes will also leave LFC this summer along with Arne Slot.
Ta.
{Ed025's Note - cheers Carra, not before time imo mate..
17 Mar 2026 08:21:28
Great news, neither are up to the task. Does it look like Alonso, and any ideas on the dof position? Carra, any names touted?
17 Mar 2026 08:22:01
Exactly that, has been on the cards for a long time.
17 Mar 2026 08:22:05
Things are looking up....Here's to the future. 🤞
17 Mar 2026 08:23:55
Cheers, Carra.
17 Mar 2026 08:28:42
Too good to be true. I'll believe it when I see it.
They need to get moving, as we need a whole raft of players, with no management who's going to be starting talks.
17 Mar 2026 08:44:36
Carra, so does that mean Slot is safe until the summer?
Surely not.
17 Mar 2026 08:51:10
Not before time. In my view, there should be one leading contender to act as sporting director and set the direction of the club. His middle name is Norbert.
17 Mar 2026 08:51:36
Cheers, Carra, hoping we get the next appointments right.
17 Mar 2026 08:54:20
Summer?
17 Mar 2026 09:03:46
It makes sense. It was Hughes who called the shots on who we sold and bought last season. We need to go back to a manager/coach, not a head coach.
17 Mar 2026 09:36:19
I don't get why people are so into Klopp being our new DOF. Tbh I think he isn't suited to the role at all, or, at the very least, hasn't shown anything to suggest that he is. His choice of players to buy, such as Brandt, Keita, and Nunez, has also been questionable.
He has been our best manager I've seen in my lifetime, but I'd rather we go for DOFs who are also proven in their respective field. People like Txiki or Rangnick.
17 Mar 2026 09:41:20
Excellent news. Cheers, Carra. Hopefully we can get Gerrard in after Wednesday.
17 Mar 2026 09:54:41
This is not great news. There is no incentive for Hughes to sack Slot, then, so they both will continue till summer.
The damage by then could be irreparable for 2-3 seasons.
17 Mar 2026 10:10:37
Cafu, it'll be okay. The damage will last only as long as Slot is still here because, despite our poor performances, we still have an excellent squad.
17 Mar 2026 10:14:00
Great news ...
Fields will be doing back flips ...
Out of interest, anyone know if a replacement inbound .. or we going down the manager route? ...
17 Mar 2026 10:17:59
Very annoying, we have Hughes as a lame duck director after completely destroying our season. He then pushes off to a better paid job in Saudi. Where else can you get such rewards for being a failure?
Edwards should take a more direct role in LFC or move on too imo. This new model hasn't worked at all.
And the less said about Slot the better.
17 Mar 2026 10:21:24
I still think Edwards is an issue too. He is the one that should have pulled the pull on this s*** show many many months ago. I also believe that he is the catalyst that caused Klopp to leave.
17 Mar 2026 10:27:45
Go and get Paul Mitchell as a Hughes replacement if we need one.
I would prefer "manager" over "Head Coach/Sporting Director".
17 Mar 2026 10:38:34
If the rumours are true that Xabi would want to be a manager, not a head coach, then perhaps the easiest solution for sporting director is an internal one, ie Julian Ward. This would give us continuity, especially as this is the important period for summer transfer planning.
17 Mar 2026 10:38:36
Apparently he's not sacked; he's agreed a nice deal with a Saudi club.
17 Mar 2026 11:00:34
Hughes has potentially been off since last November, when he was contacted about the move. Chelsea's sporting director was a backup. Perhaps that's why we didn't really delve into the market come January.
17 Mar 2026 11:03:41
The slippery fork tongued **** has jumped ship to saudi before getting sacked
17 Mar 2026 11:13:07
I think people have got Hughes leaving wrong. The Richard Hughes going to Saudi is a Scot, so Richard Hughes at LFC will be staying for the long haul. YNWA.
17 Mar 2026 12:00:36
@Albeydered, our DOF is a Scot.
17 Mar 2026 12:03:54
2 down, 1 to go.
17 Mar 2026 12:47:54
He's leaving to take up a new role, so I'm not sure whether that's jump before being pushed, or whether he was ever going to be pushed out. We've done poor business since he arrived, so hopefully a change in direction.
Apparently, if Xabi comes in, he wants Wharton and Bastoni. I think both are too slow and lack the mobility we need in those positions, although they are good passers of the ball if we have pace in the wide areas.
17 Mar 2026 13:18:06
Great news, Carra - thank you.
17 Mar 2026 16:32:30
Hopefully he buys Macca, Gakpo and Isak for big money.
17 Mar 2026 16:55:45
Nice one, Carra. I've been hearing stuff about the STC potentially leaving, but now I'm glad it's confirmed. 😂
No back flips, in case I put my back out, Mighty. 😂
17 Mar 2026 19:16:39
Racy, mate, and Reds. My apologies, I misread an article and I gave wrong information out. YNWA.
18 Mar 2026 17:24:05
Can I ask then, what does Edwards actually do in his day-to-day role?
17 Mar 2026 03:36:03
Not in the know never claim to be. But was at work yesterday and had a meeting with my colleague in Saudi. He told me that Al-Hilal is being brought by their prince (one of) and will be making statement changes with priority being Salah. Also they are discussing with Hughes to take over the project.
Pretty sure I read some Hughes to Saudi rumours on here so just adds up. Maybe it has legs. Personally I doubt that Salah would want to go there. I think he might want to play under who ever the next manager is.
17 Mar 2026 06:08:53
I saw some Hughes/Al-Hilal rumours on Twitter recently too. Could be something in it?
17 Mar 2026 11:13:58
Not true, guys, wrong Hughes.
17 Mar 2026 11:47:01
Albeydered, you know LFC's Richard Hughes is Scottish, don't you?
17 Mar 2026 12:07:35
Salah might want to play for the new manager, but wouldn't want him here next year. His attitude has been s*** and he looks disinterested, and he spits his dummy out if he's taken off. Definitely should go.
17 Mar 2026 16:26:40
Emlyn, then Albeydered?
17 Mar 2026 16:35:15
Didn't look disinterested when coming off him, and Chiesa looked p*ssed.
17 Mar 2026 17:34:06
So nothing immediate then with Slot? Abysmal from the club.
16 Mar 2026 23:39:57
FSG are strongly considering allowing the Future Manager have full control over transfers. This would mean Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes would leave the club if they didn’t agree to it. This was sent to me from a friend who lives in Liverpool. Thought I’d share. Not sure how he knows. 🤷♂️
17 Mar 2026 00:19:44
Possibly because this season the manager didn't get who he wanted or the positions he wanted. I am sure two wingers and a CB were wanted, as well as not re-signing Salah. Decisions were out of his hands.
17 Mar 2026 06:52:06
That strikes me as being a very bad idea, since managers and football directors are operating with different time scales in mind - one is focussed on the present, and the other is focussed upon longer term squad planning. There just needs to be more synergy between the two levels in terms of priorities in the here and now, what the coach wants or needs, and how plans can be arranged or re-arranged in response to contingencies as they arise, which is something we have clearly lacked this year.
17 Mar 2026 10:35:27
Not re-signing Salah? So Salah forced them at gunpoint to give him a new contract? What an absolute joke of a comment.
