Looks like the Nike deal could go ahead.

{Ed002's Note - Subject to any appeal it will go ahead.}

Do you think NB will appeal Ed 2?

{Ed002's Note - I would think it unlikely, but they will discuss it.}

Why did Adidas not put In a bid there stuff I the past has been eye catching to say the least.

{Ed002's Note - They are fully committed already.}

Ed i thought i read someone that the courts said they were not allowed to appeal?

{Ed002's Note - They cannot appeal unless they have a chance of overturning the decision. It is a matter they will discuss Alex.}

I was going to ask if the Nike deal was any good. From what I can gather we are leaving the NB £45 mil a yea for the Nike £30 mil plus 20% of net sales. I have no idea what 20% equates I'd guess somewhere around 20/ 25 mil judging by other kit deals but I was hoping to get ed02s view on it.

{Ed002's Note - It depends on predictions coming true but Liverpool's expectations are a total of between £70M and £75M per year initially. If Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League there are significant penalties. So the deal is a good one - although I know Ed001 will be missing his favourite shirt material now - so folks will be on tenderhooks until the last home game of the season when the new kit may well get a debut.}

Do any other Prem teams have this kind of Percentage sales deal on kits ed? If so who? Thanks mate.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

25 Oct 2019 15:43:06
Thanks for all the info ed002. Hope they can make enough kit, NB had a few issues with supply.

I suppose the better we do on the pitch the more merchandise we will sell. Also I read Nike are strong in some coutries with big potential for LFC like China.

{Ed002's Note - The issue with China has been fake kits.}

Sounds good Ed, you would imagine the club based their figures on last year's sales so they shouldn't be miles out, another step forward if correct.

Ed002 you mention no similar examples exist with other clubs and their sponsporships in the PL, is it also uncommon elsewhere or are there any examples of a similar type deal that you know of? I'm very intrigued if it is the case of being a unique contract. I like the idea of the club having more goals and targets to work towards, with on field and off field progress having the potential to reach great heights.

Would this ever be a common feature in other sports or areas of the world?

{Ed002's Note - Yes there are other examples and yes it happens in other sports.}

25 Oct 2019 21:48:21
Cheers, it would be interesting to see examples of it being a massively successful deal in comparison to examples of deals that were bad business.
I wouldn't think that kind of info would be overly publisised anyway.

{Ed002's Note - It will be declared in the accounts.}

Thanks ed I'l save that research for a rainy day. or when United are on the telly!

26 Oct 2019 08:40:48
I work in wholesale, albeit not the sportswear sector. The structure of the deal could be extremely lucrative for the club, the retail vehicles Nike can channel the brand through are massive, plus all the marketing that will promote brand LFC globally.
