We have a great squad, no doubt. In certain positions we are overflowing with talent. The old adage that you need 2 of every position. We have that everywhere except CB. We sold Lovren and didn't replace him. This isn't about giving the kids a chance. They get a go when you get unlucky with injuries, as we are with the CB position. The difference is that we only have 3 for 2 places. 1 of those was always going to miss a bunch of games through injury (Matip) and that leaves the cupboard pretty bare. I know things are tight financially but surely this was a risk that didn't pay off.
Just for fun here's the squad and back up!
Front 3 - Salah, Mane, Firmino
Back up - Origi, Jota, Minamino
Midfield - Hendo, Milner, Thiago, Fabinho, Gini, Keita, Ox, Shaq and Jones (all interchangeable and as a group totally awesome! )
RB - Trent and Neco
LB - Robbo and Tsimikas (Milly at a ush)
CB - VVD and Gomez
Back up - Matip and?
Goalie - Allison and Adrian
We really are so strong with just 1 glaring omission. Still not complaining, a great squad that most teams would be green with envy for.

It feels a little bit like we as LFC fans are trying to put ourselves on a pedestal by giving it the we don’t need to buy players let’s give our kids a chance look at us speeches. For me I think our youngsters will be getting chance after chance in training and will be monitored every day by Klopp and his staff whilst they are training with the first team squad. If we look at the last 5-10 years only really Trent has become a first team success story out of hundreds of kids in our academy’s and now we seem to believe that these current youngsters are ready to play regular first team Football for a team challenging for the premier league and CL. I have no doubts that these youngsters will get more game time now because we don’t have many fit centre half’s but I’m sure if Klopp was to get funds in jan he would look to bring in an established centre half. These youngsters need to be bled in slowly. After all it wasn’t long ago we were labelling flannigan the Scouse Cafu and look how that turned out.

As I said before jk one bad game and the key board warriors will demand blood and death threats! Training day in day out is nottin like match day when tackles are harder and faster! Talk of billy the kid too (haven’t seen him) is a joke he didn’t even get a sniff but people want him in the 1st team! I’m all for give the kids a Chance but let’s get real here we’ve not a half decent cb through the ranks since carra not one near his level and he was only half decent!

JK23 I’ve been in the give the kids a chance camp but only as In this moment with matip, Fab and VVD out id rather that instead of playing midfielders out of position in defence give the younger players a chance. Of course when the window opens I’m sure the club will be looking for a new cb to come in and help.

Jordz I’m with you there mate. I didn’t want to see Fab played at centre half but Klopp did. I wouldn’t rule out seeing Hendo or another midfielder play there. And that’s not me saying they should. But Klopp might feel that way after seeing the job Fab did there. After all if Klopp thought the youngsters were ready then Fab wouldn’t have been there in the first place.

We can’t sign anyone till January. Full stop.
For now, we either have midfielders or youth.
Why play anyone out of place? We may as well rely on a youngster as put Henderson in (or even TAA I saw mentioned! ) .
It’s not putting anyone on a pedestal, it’s working with what we have. It’s a game of football, if it works, brilliant, if not, it’s still just a game of football.
Anyone that makes it more than that, needs to get a life.

Sorry to blab on again. What I mean is why are we so against signing a centre half. In the summer fans were against signing Thiago until it happened or even the suggestion of another forward. Every single player in our regular match days squads that have contributed to our CL and Premier league success over these last 2 seasons (yes youngsters have had a few minutes here or there since lockdown and this season but I’m not referring to those games as the title was already won) bar Trent, Hendo, Gomez and Bobby have been bought by Klopp. And even 3 of those were bought by other managers. As it stands we can’t sign one because the window is closed. Come Jan we might not be able to sign one anyway because of money. But to make out that if we had the chance of signing one we shouldn’t is like burying our heads in the sand for me and hoping for the best. After all there's surely a reason why Klopp wanted a centre half in the summer before VVD even picked up this injury.
