Can one of the Ed's correct or discredit me. I'm arguing with a friend over injuries and I said to him that the great Franco Baresi had to have a hernia OP during USA 94. Then he returned in the final and was so brilliant a player he helped keep a clean sheet. Ok yes he missed a pen but that's not part of it. My mate says it didn't happen and he got dropped so Italy could play Maldini at centre half. Anyway it's just got my Hope's up that Virgil or Joe could come back early.

{Ed0666's Note - he actually had a surgery on his meniscus and played in the final 3 weeks later. It was superhuman stuff. I mean who does that? What a player, what a player! Sadly Virgil and Joe have very serious injuries that take a long time to heal. From what I gather it’s not so much the physical healing which is 10% of the process it’s training the brain to overcome the injury. It’s fascinating stuff.

He obviously must have been mentally very strong then. Joe has has a few injuries throughout his career so maybe he will be able to train his brain quickly.
