Bild reporting XA done.

30 Mar 2026 20:36:15
Daily Mirror says Slot is here for the long haul and is happy with him. 🤔

3

30 Mar 2026 20:53:13
Bild was reporting from the report a week ago, which said we contacted him, not that it was done.

0

30 Mar 2026 21:02:05
Doesn't matter what they say, Carra said it and I believe him.

1

30 Mar 2026 21:05:49
BeKind, don't think they did, mate. Where'd you see that?

0

30 Mar 2026 21:25:32
The fume on here when Slott gets his new contract will be mental.

1

30 Mar 2026 21:38:42
Been all over social media today and Carra has stated it, happier days.

30 Mar 2026 21:39:47
New contract is hilarious. 🤣 Manc alert. 🤐

Afternoon All, I posted a few weeks back about Christos Mouzakitis. Just a little update on that, looks like Liverpool faded out of it and are looking at more established players for the CM position. Both Milan sides look to be going head-to-head for his signature, will still be a yr loan back.

Regarding incommings, last year all the talk was Wharton as the next best thing, now looks to have swung to Anderson, i'm still a huge fan of the way wharton plays, the way he studies the ball for a few seconds before passing reminds me of trent. Is there any link to us this summer and his signature?

Thanks Eds.

30 Mar 2026 19:03:51
As a Greek, I gotta say the supposed interest sounded like old year's news. He's regressed massively this season, with mostly below mediocre performances, and I never believed he would ever have the physicality needed. Many better midfielders in his age bracket out there.

It made no sense that we'd be looking to sign him. Even Kostoulas, who was miles ahead of him in terms of both talent and "readiness", is struggling for minutes in Brighton (though my opinion is that Hurzeler is a criminal for the way he's been treating him).

1

30 Mar 2026 19:41:46
Wharton looks to me as someone who, if surrounded by the right players, can be world class, but if not, can look poor.

Based on our current strikers, if we play a diamond with him at the base in a Pirlo/regista role, that would suit him best.

2

30 Mar 2026 19:50:51
If we signed a Guimaries R Caicedo type along with Wharton, I think it would be brilliant, but I don't think Wharton on his own is what we need.

3

30 Mar 2026 21:00:50
I like Wharton and would be happy if we signed him. I'm sure if Xabi is coming in he could help develop him further. Would love Anderson too, obviously.

1

30 Mar 2026 21:35:08
Thanks, TLC and Last Baron - interesting.

30 Mar 2026 11:26:08
Xa apparently wants Arda Guler as his main signing.

9

30 Mar 2026 11:47:16
Get him in.

6

30 Mar 2026 11:50:41
Needs to up his work rate imo.

2

30 Mar 2026 11:57:28
He reminds me of a better version of Suso! I really rated Suso back in the day, if only he worked under Klopp & not Bodgers, things might have been very different for his career.

3

30 Mar 2026 12:05:59
Don't need him, do we? Doesn't he play in Wirtz's position, and I'd doubt he'd come in as a back up.

8

30 Mar 2026 12:32:23
Wirtz played much more on the left at Leverkusen, so Guler on the right as part of a 3-4-2-1 behind Etikite/Isak might work.

2

30 Mar 2026 12:32:56
Think Xa favours two CAMs behind a striker. With Wirtz, Dom and Guler we'd be well covered.

1

30 Mar 2026 12:33:06
Xabi must want to play two AMs and Scrabble in the double pivot with Grav?

2

30 Mar 2026 12:46:00
I imagine Szobo will be delighted, considering their bickering. :P

10

30 Mar 2026 12:57:20
Guler is a sensational passer. His ceiling is very high, but he will need to adapt to PL's physicality. However, he is an RM fan, and I don't see him leaving when he is getting decent minutes already.

7

30 Mar 2026 14:15:08
I thought Guler doesn't get along well with the primadonnas in the RM team. I recall a rumour I read that he is ostracised by the other players there, bar a few. So he may be willing to leave if it is a toxic place for him.

4

30 Mar 2026 14:16:00
We need tough strong fast midfielders, we can only have so many silky players in our team, unfortunately the prem looks like it's heading like the way Arsenal play, all set pieces, throw ins, corners, we need a combative midfield to cope.

5

30 Mar 2026 14:58:08
In all honesty, I wouldn't read too much into formation with Xabi. His emphasis seems to be a team's ability to transition to new formations mid-match, and starting each match with a formation based on the opposition. Personally, I think Guler can be quite wasteful.

He's not high up my list. I would love a proper DM, a ball winner, that can sit in a back 3 or play part of a pivot, and not get dragged forward, but know when to sit and protect the back 2.

5

30 Mar 2026 15:20:38
Anderson should be the top target for us.

7

30 Mar 2026 16:45:00
We need a "Dunga" in our team, if you can remember him in Brazil's team. Going around the pitch quietly assaulting people and winning battles.

4

30 Mar 2026 16:48:27
Anderson would be great but he comes with an English tax and we can get better value elsewhere.

1

30 Mar 2026 16:50:05
Seems a strange move with Dom and Wirtz already at the club. So, we not bothering with Diomande, Olise now?

1

30 Mar 2026 18:31:09
BeKind agreed he'd be expensive but we are going to have to keep an eye on our non homegrown quota.

0

30 Mar 2026 19:52:01
Has Alonso signed?

0

30 Mar 2026 20:46:14
@1jj, In some dimensions he has, in this one the nearest we are is Bild 'reporting XA is done', which is good enough for me.

0

30 Mar 2026 20:58:14
Old rumour has been doing the rounds since at least 2024. The idea that he wanted to bring him in at Liverpool was reported back in late Jan or early February. I'd imagine this is just a recycling of that same story.

0

30 Mar 2026 08:40:38
Apparently Leeds interested in Elliot if he doesn't move to Villa. Think we would want the same fee of £35m.

7

30 Mar 2026 09:25:39
I just hope wherever Harvey ends up, he gets game time. He's way too good in my opinion to be warming a bench, especially due to commercial politics like we have seen at Villa this season.

11

30 Mar 2026 10:00:54
I'd keep him.

10

30 Mar 2026 10:38:03
He won't be going to Villa. Safe to say that he'd probably rather defecate in his own hands and clap with his mouth wide open than ever sign permanently for them or play for a team managed by Unai Emery.

8

30 Mar 2026 10:43:02
Really, Victor !!!!!

4

30 Mar 2026 11:58:56
I would keep Elliot if Slot is leaving, he is a good player when used right. Klopp used him in 50 games or so in his last season, so he can't be that bad!

5

30 Mar 2026 12:52:20
If we were playing 3.4.2.1 under Alonso, he'd be decent cover for one of the 2 am's.

1

30 Mar 2026 13:11:32
Somewhere like Leipzig would suit him better and could be used as part of a Diamonde deal if we are signing him.

2

30 Mar 2026 14:15:53
That's your best one yet, Viktor. Made me laugh out loud reading that. 🤣

3

30 Mar 2026 16:51:18
Lad wants to play though. To be a starter. That's why he made the decision to leave in the first place.

0

30 Mar 2026 19:57:30
Spot on, Max and Gmil. He would suit that position, I think, is HG, a club fan, and only got fazed out under Slot due to not having his desired attributes. I definitely keep him. His eye and ability for a through ball or pass over the top are massively underrated.

0

29 Mar 2026 17:24:06
Chelsea and Liverpool could battle it out for the signature of Switzerland Under-21s captain Roggerio Nyakossi.

9

30 Mar 2026 12:49:15
What would the battle consist of? Rock, paper scissors? Scrabble? PlayStation? Answers in a postcard please.

2

30 Mar 2026 13:27:38
A Game of Thrones joust tournament would be good.

2

30 Mar 2026 18:01:47
Hopscotch Battle Royale.

0

29 Mar 2026 16:59:24
Hi all,

Wolves are interested in Stefan Bajcetic. It remains to be seen whether or not they will move for him in the summer. Potential for a deal there.

15

29 Mar 2026 17:59:27
Possibly a swap deal (cash for difference) for Andre or has that ship sailed?

0

29 Mar 2026 18:02:30
Could be a good move for the lad.

Ed,

What is he suffering from which has taken almost 2 years of recovery, and when do you think he will be fit?

Cheers!

29 Mar 2026 20:28:44
Bajtecic = sell sell sell.

7

29 Mar 2026 18:21:03
Silly boy if true Ed because he certainly has talent.

9

29 Mar 2026 19:51:08
🤣🤣🤣🤣 good stuff ed25

2

29 Mar 2026 20:59:26
He's a crock. Good luck to him. We need horses for courses and he isn't one.

2

29 Mar 2026 23:35:17
Not talented nor astute enough. An obvious out.

0

30 Mar 2026 00:32:29
Bajetic is a case of a lad who everyone wants to do well, but will not make it to the top. Remember Pacheco? Same story.

4

30 Mar 2026 06:27:13
Well, he certainly has talent or he wouldn't be at Liverpool in the first place but that's only one part of the jigsaw. Application and luck are also needed. Can't see us getting too much to be honest.

1

30 Mar 2026 09:25:46
I think he could do really well under Slot. I think he could sort out his tardiness if he only has to train for 20 minutes every now and then!

3

30 Mar 2026 10:23:51
I have to be honest and say I forgot Bajcetic existed.

2

30 Mar 2026 11:00:34
I remember, I used to get slaughtered for suggesting he will never make it with us.

3

30 Mar 2026 11:58:13
Mikey
Those 2 games in DM had many suggesting he was the next Kante. 🤣

0

30 Mar 2026 12:01:11
I watched him in La Liga last season (3 games). He was subbed off in all of them (at half time in 2), and was very very average. People on twatter overrating his performances without actually watching him. Sell sell sell.

3

30 Mar 2026 15:57:23
Totally agree, never rated him, far too lazy for me! You play in the middle (up, down, left, right, doesn't matter). You run your stones off! In fact that's what we need right now!

29 Mar 2026 09:56:05
More of a question to the Eds and ITKs, if I may.

There's going to be a lot of uncertainty surrounding the club this summer; manager in question, so is the Sporting Director, even Edwards linked with a move to Saudi, Salah leaving, our biggest ever signing having an injury-plagued year etc.

The list is quite extensive.

And with the talks of a 2nd club falling through, it got me wondering what is FSG's thinking in terms of their medium- and long-term ownership of the club?

With so much work to do, and the costs involved, are they considering selling or anything?

Thanks.

3

29 Mar 2026 11:46:14
Not an ITK. Pure speculation.

There's a big war on, an unhinged US President, uncertainty in Gulf State finances/investment appetite and likelihood of economic shocks that could rival Covid.

The number of would be owners and investors in sporting institutions might be small to none during this uncertain period.

As they did during Covid, FSG will likely shelve anything significant for the time being. I hope the committed academy infrastructure investment remains secure.

14

29 Mar 2026 11:57:42
That's a great point that I completely forgot about FlyPelicanFly. So much will be up in the air across the globe these days.

4

29 Mar 2026 12:03:14
Agree Fly, there will be definitely no takers at the moment.

1

29 Mar 2026 12:16:34
Liverpool is FSG's biggest earner. It could be considered very short-sighted for them to jump ship because of a few speed bumps. The multi-club model is not an easy move to make. I wouldn't necessarily take the shelving of the project as a sure sign that they want to sell up. There are plenty of reasons for it to be on hold; it's a difficult thing to accomplish. Major positions within the club are currently in question; we've not hit expectations, and income may be reduced next season, so there's just too much up in the air for FSG to make such a commitment right now.

Pressing pause is without doubt the best business move at the moment. Let's be real, FSG could sell up whenever they want and turn a huge profit on their investment. I'm sure the idea has been considered in some capacity on more than one occasion, but I doubt it's top of their agenda at the moment. They've seen huge growth since they initially came on board and there's no sign of it stopping any time soon.

1

29 Mar 2026 14:25:12
Keep in mind that FSG very much wants to get an NBA franchise. With the NBA recently announcing their plans to expand, this may be the reason speculation has increased regarding a potential LFC sale.

3

29 Mar 2026 16:51:31
NBA franchises in the UK starting with Liverpool
LeBron.

29 Mar 2026 17:26:16
I can't see Premier League club revenues being affected in the same way they were during Covid.
Covid was unique in that nobody could attend matches.
Lack of matchday revenue and rebates to broadcasters when matches weren't played were the issue.

This economic situation is different. Matches will continue and therefore be broadcast and people will attend matches.
Even in the financial crisis, which is the worst I've experienced (in the investment industry), Premier League club revenues remained resilient.

2

29 Mar 2026 20:57:47
Assuming people have petrol to get to the grounds....

3

29 Mar 2026 21:57:16
I'm sure a tongue in cheek comment re the petrol, but this will pass. These things always do.

2

30 Mar 2026 08:23:11
It was, the only thing that will remain is that the prices won't drop as far or as fast this time unless the idiot plans on keeping thousands of American troops to patrol the Straits of Hormuz indefinitely.

There's a funny bit in one of Woody Allen's films - Love and Death I think- and it's about the village idiot's convention in Minsk. It's a line that goes something like 'if they brought all the village idiots together in one village, you'd still be the village idiot'. Donald, more and more, brings the gag to mind whenever I see or hear him.

1

28 Mar 2026 18:31:42
My son just told me City getting 60 points deducted. It's all over the web. I know it's click bait but still be nice lol.

YNWA.

7

28 Mar 2026 18:48:28
Nice if true, Championship club and supporters.

7

28 Mar 2026 19:19:32
In a way, I hope it's not true as I'm hoping Spurs go down. 😂

16

28 Mar 2026 19:43:05
As Citeh are on 61 points, this will mean relegation for them and 5th place for us.

3

28 Mar 2026 19:48:26
A one-season punishment is absolutely nothing with respect to their "allegations", if you ask me.

39

28 Mar 2026 19:57:15
Would be interesting how their players would react. Would Pep stay? Would Haaland do a year in the Championship? Lol.

3

28 Mar 2026 20:22:42
If they are found guilty, anything short of being stripped of trophies is not enough for me.

Cheating for years and getting punished proactively with no retroactive consequences isn't really much of a deterrent, is it?

32

28 Mar 2026 20:31:01
I don't want to see City stripped of trophies because, at the end of the day, they won those trophies because they were the best team. It's not like they were doping. Us retrospectively being allocated trophies would feel like a hollow achievement to me because ultimately we did get bested from a sporting perspective.

I don't want there to be an asterix next to our trophy list.

28

28 Mar 2026 20:35:18
60 pt deduction should only be a start, they should also get a massive fine of £500 million and transfer ban for 10 years.
Need to make an example of them.

21

28 Mar 2026 20:46:13
Quite honestly, hope it's not true for this season, makes no difference to us after all of the seasons we've been pipped to the line. Next season with a proper manager and no City in sight, we'll walk the league.

3

28 Mar 2026 20:51:47
After Chelsea's minor slap on the wrist for financial cheating, nothing will surprise me.

18

28 Mar 2026 20:57:59
It's not true at all, it's pure speculation from a Colombian reporter on twatter. To be honest, I'd be surprised if they got hit with anything more than 12 points and a hefty fine. Football is unbearably corrupt. It's a disgrace, they should be relegated and stripped.

13

28 Mar 2026 20:59:58
A 40 point deduction every year for every season they cheated might do. They won't be stripped of titles or automatically relegated. But whether they face any punishment at all will be the main issue.

8

28 Mar 2026 21:09:13
It should be a very tough penalty - first some sort of sporting penalty that pushes them to a multiple season hardship, think 2 relegations (I know this can't be done because it's EFL not the prem) or multiple season point deductions - think 15 per season for 3 seasons. The irregularities gave them multiple year advantages they still carry today. The punishment should set them back beyond a season or two.

Secondly, there has to be a substantial financial penalty placed upon the owners - they signed off on the breaches, but more importantly they've made a mockery of sporting justice by lawyering up to try to buy themselves out of it and delaying the price. Tax them and tax them hard and make sure the money goes down the structure of football.

10

28 Mar 2026 21:11:34
Sailor Jerry, if City get a 60 point deduction this season they won't be in the same division as us next season. So either way they won't be a threat for winning the Premier League.

2

28 Mar 2026 21:29:33
I personally think this PSR is b*******.
A rule brought in by the big 6 to stop anyone else winning stuff, and I think that it deserved to be treated with contempt.
In no other industry would a business be prevented from investing its own money to improve itself.

I don't want them stripped of titles because I am pretty sure that would give United 2 more titles and us one for the years that they "cheated".

3

28 Mar 2026 21:54:56
Babity, no, they cheated, they do not deserve to keep the titles. One season in the Championship is not enough, they knew what they were doing, no excuses. We get two prem winners, Arsenal get two prem winners, others get FA Cups and League Cups.

Why should they have it in their history? They may have been the best team, but that does not justify what they done. By the way, Chelsea should have had the same treatment.

10

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - you wont be getting anything imo Albey, i would expect that any titles and trophies won by City during that period would be expunged and written off mate, but would you even want those titles anyway??..

20

28 Mar 2026 22:10:04
C'mon Ed's. This is trash

1

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - it may be KC but this is a rumours site mate and that is a rumour im afraid..

10

28 Mar 2026 22:43:47
Finally a way to guarantee Arsenal the title ;-).
I don't really believe this, and City would appeal, and it would be deemed excessive, when in fact there should be harsher punishment, and not something that affects only 1 season.
No, I wouldn't want the titles either.

3

28 Mar 2026 22:56:43
Should be a point deduction for every charge, to roll over to next year anything below zero at the end of the season.
Put a * put next to all their achievements to highlight the fact that they are cheats.
Won't happen though... money talks!

2

28 Mar 2026 23:17:09
After what happened with Chelsea, I have zero faith in those adjudicating these matters. City will probably get 10 points added to make sure Arsenal don't win the title!!

1

29 Mar 2026 00:32:53
I'd be perfectly happy with seeing City stripped of all the titles they won and the leagues given to us. We deserved those titles because we performed unbelievably in 2018/2019 and 2021/22, but lost out on razor-thin margins against cheats.
The above has no chance of happening, but it absolutely should.

5

29 Mar 2026 02:02:18
It's dragging on so long because the corruption goes deeper than Manchester City just cheating. That's the obvious part.

The rabbit hole is deep.

And Newcastle watch on, ready to see the punishment, ready to be Man City x100.

5

29 Mar 2026 08:38:07
60pts would be a slap on the wrist for what they've done.

But, tbh, after the Chelsea and Leicester debacles, I doubt City would even get that much.

If the PL had any integrity, Chelsea and Man City would be expelled, any titles they won expunged, and clubs affected by their cheating given free run to sue them into oblivion.

But I won't hold my breath.

2

28 Mar 2026 23:19:28
I agree, Ed. Those titles are done, no winner those markes down for those years, IMHO.

3

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - yeah i think the same Ritchie..

5

29 Mar 2026 10:44:48
They didn't deserve the titles because they broke the rules in order to gain an unfair advantage. Strip them of the titles, and mark the seasons with an asterisk and no winners, relegate them automatically and then deduct 60 points, and ban them from Europe for the same number of years as they cheated to win the league and, last but not least, have another crack at the desirability of letting the club (any club) be run by a bunch of liars and cheats.

Of course it won't happen because those responsible for the running of the game have a different agenda than aspiring to promote the game.

0

29 Mar 2026 11:13:29
I think it's totally reasonable to strip them off the titles they won. The teams they built to "earn" those titles were built contrary to the rules. So they didn't earn it.
*If found guilty lol.

3

29 Mar 2026 14:02:24
City should at least get what Juve got tbh.

1

29 Mar 2026 18:25:35
Will it be referees investigated next? Surely, there has been enough fluck ups to justify a full investigation.!!!!

1

30 Mar 2026 13:45:21
It's crazy to me why in football we just erase the trophy if someone cheated to win it.

In athletics, cycling, and many other sports they just remove the winner's result and pretend they didn't compete, and then award accordingly. The people who competed fairly still earned their place and prize. By simply expunging the entire record, you punish everyone's hard work because one guy/team cheated.

2

27 Mar 2026 18:06:46
Heard the Jonhny Heitinga move back to Liverpool had been blocked by the board. Not sure if true or not but bit late to bring a another coach in now.

7

27 Mar 2026 18:58:52
They're hardly going to bring in Heitinga and then pay him off in 2 months when they sack Slot and his team.

13

27 Mar 2026 19:12:03
Why do people think Heitinga is the solution to the Slot rot? We were rubbish at the back end of last season.

20

27 Mar 2026 19:15:57
I thought, is it going to be a 'mutual parting of ways'?

4

27 Mar 2026 20:36:43
I thought he was at TH.

2

28 Mar 2026 01:27:21
@longthing, He left after Thomas Frank was sacked, I think. I remember reading something about them asking if he'd want to stay and continue working with Tudor, but he declined and decided to leave.

2

28 Mar 2026 11:00:02
stoneage, It will no doubt be labelled a mutual parting but we all know that's not the truth. The man brought in a Premier League title in his first season, so the club has no issue calling it a mutual parting out of respect for Slot and his career.
