Earlier I read an extract from a book to be published on Thursday, in the Guardian. It was about TAA in his academy days and how he was bullied (in the best possible way) into becoming a fullback. A good read.

Like many in our squad he has a lot to prove and I think he will have a top season. Hopefully his best ever.

Mark, I disagree. TAA does not have a lot to prove. In fact, he has nothing left to prove to me. A lot to prove to who? The rival fans who diss him whereas if you gave many of them truth serum, they would tell you that they would rather have him on their team? The media who started this pathetic narrative saying that he is poor defensively whereas none of that is true and those being compared to him are actually no better? The pathetic Southgate who hung him out to dry just cos he was too incompetent to know what to do with such a phenomenal player?

The kid can literally retire right now at 22 as he’s already done it all with the receipts (trophies) to prove it. All the kid has to do is continue to improve and be the best he can be and never believe in his own hype. If that is him having a lot to prove then, I agree. If it is not then, you’re going to have to explain/ expand on this “lot” he needs to prove.
