Liverpools season ends on Sunday with what im sure will be a stonking win away to a dejected Saints. Its been a tough season but a really strong finish which has built momentum going in to next season. I know this summer will be a big one and even with Europa leauge I think we will get players that will vastly improve the team.

Looking at the table and performances of other sides, team of the year for me are Brighton. A real breath of fresh air and love how they play their football. The award for being Spursy goes to Spurs, obviously. The, we knew what would happen even if you didn't want to see it award goes to Arsenal, but the worst team award has to go to Chelsea.

Taking in to account points won per £ spent in the transfer window, the shocking performances under 3 managers in 18 months and simply their total lack of any entertainment when watched, is this Chelsea team one of the worst teams in the history of the league? Already a goal down against United and they look bored of playing together.

Oh and the, yeah if you say so award, goes to City who insist they paid 60 million for Haaland and that their Etihadonomics is pukka and they have not broken a single rule, as they open their new player canteen, which is sponsored for 500 million a season by the owners cousin. Its been an up and down season. Next season I think we will be back. Hopefully with quality reinforcements.

We always end well so I’m not sure it has any momentum to next season, we started last season poorly but caught up in second half.

Good stuff Kimuraking

Serious question here - is City's dominance having a negative impact on the overall reputation of the league? Is anyone (or everyone) starting to look at the Premier League in the same light as Bundes (Bayern), Ligue 1 (PSG), and La Liga (Real/ Barca)?

I'd have to imagine that a competitive league, where the title is not a foregone conclusion every year, will have more viewership and more overall interest (and money), so why let this (cheating) continue? If it was done legitimately, I can get behind it but that just isn't the case. I'm not sure how long fans (excluding the diehards) will stick around to watch 19 teams fight for second place.

Serie A is the league to watch, 4 different champions in 4 seasons.

No idea if viewership is going down, but what I know is that it'll be known as the "Manchester City era" in the history books. 7 titles, 2 second places since 2011. And it'll probably continue as long as their owners and Guardiola are in place.

Why would the Premier League do anything? They did nothing to ManU during their time of dominance. I would think that viewership (especially the global audience) actually went up for the league, during this time.

ManU weren’t wrapped up in scandal and cheating if memory serves. I’m just more curious if this makes people want to watch sport that’s more competitive as outside of watching LFC (for obvious reasons), I can’t say I care about the PL anymore because I know what’s going to happen. If City came by it honestly, that’s a different story.

Man City are a complete bore mate and watching any of their games is a snooze fest. I simply cannot remember a time when football was so boring. Maybe it’s me or the Poor officials or VAR taking any emotion out of the game making it sterile. The lack of fight put up by any team against City makes for a game not worth watching week in week out. Football has always been my sport but at the moment I am felling pretty sport less as my love for it is fading fast. I think summer has come at the right time and we all need a break from this not just Liverpool fans.

I think genuine footy fans hate it (the cheating) . I think the casual spectator probably doesn’t care about the finances and would be happy to watch City, Madrid, Barcelona etc.

The matches for the neutrals are so boring, all this time wasting and trying to win games from the odd set piece.
Newcastle have by far been the worst for slowing the game. And Villa on Saturday jeez, but it's when you get pundits saying, give them credit they have got their tactics right, that amazes me. Its cheating to feign injury so you can kill momentum.
I don't know if A Madrid have qualified for the Champions league next season, but I certainly don't want to watch them play Newcastle. Could you imagine, the ball would be in play about 10 minutes each half.

Funny how the original poster criticises every team bar Liverpool. We’ve had a strong finish but so what. We’ve been dire all season and our owners have hung us out to dry.

26 May 2023 08:26:13
I was mostly referring to City @Wishy - they are good to watch and from a purely footballing perspective aren’t boring.

What determines a genuine and casual fan?

And who decides who is what?

26 May 2023 10:51:25
@JK23 - you, of course.

26 May 2023 11:30:34
?? in that case WDW I determine you as our greatest fan of all.

Well done you.

We won't beat Southampton, it will be a scouting/ tapping up mission.
