Heard it on the grapevine frimpong if off to Germany in January. sources close to the club.

Do we have to wait until Jan? Can't we appeal to the league to get dispensation for him to go now 😆.

I question my character and mindset for saying this but I am kinda happy he is out
Horrible thing to say but the lad makes djimi traore look like prime maldini.

Yeah a former Liverpool player made the same hint on the radio the other day, can't remember who it was but he said "somebody might be going back to Germany", obviously it's pingpong, Wirtz will likely follow in the Summer.

17 Oct 2026 20:01:38
Yeah, spot on, always good to see a lad injured.

Agree4 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 13:23:35
God, i see Salah playing in Turkey and it boils my blood. He would have taken this side to a new level this season
If they assured him Slot was gone by end of season, i think he would have just bid his time out and stayed put and killed it under Adoni.

What an absolute blunder.

Agree25 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 13:31:01
He should have waited. It was more likely Arne was going than staying.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 13:55:08
At least he left when he was still getting picked for the first team.
Would have been sad to watch him lose his place in the team.
I think the timing was probably about right, how many games has he had in Turkey?

Agree11 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 13:55:23
Mo still a very good player and legend but he's no longer worth the hassle.

He would have done well under AI this season but he would have been rotated and his ego would explode again.

Like Ronaldo when he returned to United, if he had accepted starting some games and coming off the bench on others, he would have lasted a lot longer in the Prem instead of having to go to bloody Saudi. Hell i think he could still be an asset off the bench for Portugal but again his ego can't take it and he wants to play full 90s every game in his 40s.

So i agree- Salah the player would have done well this season but the ego would have done more harm than good when Munoz came in to give him a rest for example. i'm not even complaining-that ego got him and CR7 the generational output levels. But Mo is now where he belongs-with a club who will play him every game, give him the ball every attack and bow to his demands.

Agree13 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 17:27:36
Right time for him to go. Move on.

{Ed666's Note - 10 goals and 9 GA says it wasn’t

17 Oct 2026 17:47:10
Stop dragging up players that have left and look forward to the new generation. Jeez there's some right Eyore doom and gloom merchants today. we won btw.

Agree13 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 18:39:33
I think the original poster is frustrated because the new generation is nowhere near the level of Salah, Mane, Firmino, with Hendo, Gigi, Fabinho behind, and TAA, and Robbo etc. the team has been stripped of most of its quality and replaced with Poundland versions. Some of the players haven't even been replaced and there is complete imbalance in the squad. 9 points off leaders after 7 games tells you everything you need to know. We will hopefully make champs league this season, but what is the point if we aren't going to challenge.

We have some bright talents coming through and that is positive but he needs to build a better midfield and forward line in my opinion. The club has wasted a lot of money on overpriced players who are underperforming. Why does Wirtz continue to keep his place? He should be dropped until he starts playing like a Premier League footballer. A spell on the sidelines would sort him out.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 18:59:44
Munoz and Ngumoa are the future - give them the games.

Agree7 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 19:37:58

On another note I see Diaz got a hat trick for Munich!!

{Ed666's Note - 🤣

17 Oct 2026 20:07:36
@666, he was the best in his position in the world for a good while. We were lucky to see him play for our club, but the Mo Salah playing in the Turkish league isn't the player he was in his prime for us. He wouldn't have those stats had he been with us this season.

Magnificent player but he is the past. Good luck to the lad and I hope he has a brilliant season for his club but it's time for us to move on imho.

Agree6 Disagree6

{Ed666's Note - how do you know he wouldn’t have got those stats if he was still at Liverpool? He would have been playing further up the pitch, had lots more space and alas we’ll never know mate.

18 Oct 2026 02:09:23
A huge part of why Mo underperformed last season was the fact that he wasn't getting the ball quick enough, he's most effective when he's got players on the back foot, utilising his strength to hold off chasing runs, his timing to cut inside and his intelligence for link-up play, but with Slotball he was getting the ball, late, flat-footed, in dead space with little in the way of supporting runs and settled, prepared defenders ahead of him. that's not Mo's game.

Iraolas style would have suited him a hell of a lot better than Slots.

Agree3 Disagree7

{Ed666's Note - Keep on preaching brother! It baffles me how people don’t think Salah couldn’t be succesfull under AI.

15 Oct 2026 14:24:48
Lots of people might not agree but as long as ekitike comes back next season as good as before I would sell Isak and play koumas as back up. I've not been impressed at all with isaks work rate.

I think koumas has more ability than most give him credit for. Buy a number 6 and 2 full backs to rotate or compete. With another midfield option szboslai could rotate more with Wirtz.

Agree19 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 14:49:26
I'm made up for Koumas, but let's not get carried away. He has a grand total of 7 league goals across 2 full seasons in the Championship. Useful as a utility player but not a genuine long term option as backup striker.

Agree49 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 14:55:49
Or you know you can just have all 3?? The amount of football played in a season is what's 40-50 games there's enough for everyone to get a lot of game time.

Agree39 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 15:15:45
I'd like to see Isak run more and score less.

Agree39 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 15:16:53
The only concern i have with Isick, apart from his work rate, is the lack of availability since signing him. Apart from that, i think we all know he can finish. With regards to Koumas, it's exiting to see a English striker coming through.

I especially like his attacking drive and hunger, and he knows where the goal is as well. Kloppers is right, in that, there's enough matches to go around, so i'd keep all 3 personally. Midfield needs the attention first and foremost IMO.

Agree10 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 15:20:26
Isick!!

Agree19 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 15:48:15
Lewis Koumas is Welsh.

Agree38 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 15:57:15
I don't think Isak's work rate is bad at all. It's about trying to get rid of the bad habits implemented by Slot ball. All of our strikers seemed to do the same thing when he was in charge, stand in the middle just outside the box whilst being completely uninvolved in everything around them.

As if the ball was supposed to reach them by pure telekinesis.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 15:59:17
Isak, Ekitike, Koumas, Danns, Wright. Has to be the one position where we are the strongest in the league in terms of depth.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 16:35:42
Danns has been out of the picture for a while. What's happening with him?

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 16:42:36
JK, 🤣 me too mate!

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 17:04:56
My only concern with Isak is fitness. I think he is well able to press and is a clever presser tham most think. He done it well for Newcastle but they did take him off at the 70 minute mark a lot. One of the many reasons why i was never overly worried about him and Hugo in the building together. There is plenty of games for them to rotate and now both of their bodies need it. In this system i think they could play well together ocassionally too btw.

Id be happy to keep Koumas- love the kid but let's not be ridiculous Isak is a BELTER well round number 9 and is leagues ahead of Koumas.

Agree7 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 18:03:08
If Isak ran about like Chiesa and didn't score any more the. I think everyone would be happy. I would like to see Endo save more shots. He is awful at nets.

Agree7 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 18:43:53
Danns was injured for a long while I believe. I was hoping to see a bit more of him with Isak, Gakpo, and Eki all being out.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 19:29:54
@The 5th Element - Koumas was born in England. Chester in fact. Grew up in England, That makes him English as far as i'm concerned, albeit to a Welsh father.

Agree7 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 20:03:21
Work rate as a skill. Classic.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 22:00:31
TIB, perhaps you should have a word with Koumas and ask him why he sees himself as Welsh and wishes to represent his country.

Agree13 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 22:00:48
Koumas looks a LOT cuter with long hair. No one can deny.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 22:01:44
By that logic Bulk, John Barnes is Jamaican and not English?

Agree8 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 22:21:20
Crazy to want to sell Isak: he is a lethal striker. People have short memories: Bobby was pretty anonymous in key finals, and we all wanted a proper striker back then.

If all fit, we have a terrifying front line.
And a pretty great midfield, and back four.

The issue for me is that we get results away, but struggle at home. Something has gone really wrong with Anfield - it's all very like watching Spurs at home: just so silent, 'and then we monster down on a player who makes an error.

Klopp was often cross about it; we
need to fix it.

Agree5 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 23:45:03
You can qualify for a country that you aren't born in, can't you?

Not just footy either. My fave was Zola Budd, who lasted about 20 minutes as a British citizen, although to her great credit during that time, the girl did manage to trip up the insufferable US of A golden girl, Mary Decker in the Olympics.

However, I digress, just to be clear, Lewis Koumas was born in Chester, Chester is in England, ipso facto Lewis Koumas is English. He just happens to want to play for Wales.

Agree5 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 00:50:00
Before Ekitike's injury, I was saying on here that the club will need to make a decision about selling one of them in the next couple seasons.

they are competing pieces, not complimentary.

So I fully agree. I would sell Isak.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 04:40:53
Funny people on here mansplaining why Koumas is English when he himself considers himself Welsh, hence he has decided to play for Wales.

Agree17 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 07:07:24
@TFE, just to be clear, do you believe that Chester is in Wales?

Koumas can actually think he is Nigerian if he wishes but it doesn't alter the fact that he is English

Sorry if I'm mansplaining, does that make you 'a lady of the opposite sex', as someone once said? I ask because my wife, whose dad was in the RAF and was stationed at a number of places, was born in Edinburgh but still insists 45 years after I first met her that she's English because her parents were English.

In the real world it actually doesn't matter but I just find it funny.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 07:31:43
Your married??

Agree8 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 08:16:33
The first question would be does Isak trust his body enough to run gungho 3 games in 2wks? Like we all know he is a little made of glass.

Like how much does Haaland run for City? They rarely do. Just make yourself useful and put the ball in the net would be fine for me and Isak can do that. I still think Minteh can do a lot for us up front with regards to pressing.

Honestly, I really can't stand another £100m signing anymore. Go for the players that suits the manager and develop them, it's the LIV way.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 08:59:07
If someone is born in England, to a English mother, and grows up in England, that makes him English. Is his place or birth Wales? No it isn't. At least 18 people seem to think that Chester is in Wales.

It's really quite embarrassing. Koumas can believe he's Welsh if he wants, a bit like i'm Irish on paddys day. Doesn't alter the facts though does it.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 09:01:51
so let me get this straight everyone has moaned about options in positions and the census is oh yeah you'll need to sell Isak soon he's competing with Hugo?? what kind of logic is that? number 9 does not need to be touched for years as far as I'm concerned you have Isak>Hugo>Koumas>Danns>Wright you wanted competition for places no?

Agree5 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 09:27:46
Lewis Koumas is a British national. 👍
He represents Wales at football.

Surely it's up to him whether he wants to be regarded as English (his birth place) or Welsh (his heritage).

Agree15 Disagree0

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 09:47:01
People hating on Isak & Barcola are hilarious to me, Isak is one of if not the most leathal strikers out there and will prove his worth easily, Barcola didn't have a pre-season after a long world cup, like how impatient & clueless can someone be.

Agree6 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 09:54:22
@The 5th Element - Koumas was born in England. Chester in fact. Grew up in England, That makes him English as far as i'm concerned, albeit to a Welsh father.

Being born in England to Greek Cypriot parents. I count myself as a British Cypriot. So have dual nationality.

It does work both ways, even though born in the UK (my mother was too), it does not stop a lot of British people still saying I am a foreigner due to my surname. At the same time the Cypriots also say I am English due to my native tongue and broken up greek language when spoken.

A number of my friends had dual nationality too, with the having both English and Swiss/Irish/Italian passports. Where your parents are from does form part of your heritage.

In fact, Jason Koumas had the option to represent England, Cyprus or Wales and went with Wales. Having been born in Wrexam to a greek cypriot dad and English mum.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 10:37:53
I don't understand that statement sell Isak when Ekitike is fit.
Isak is a good level above Ekitike last season him doing the odd good thing when we was so bad just made him look better than he was.

Ekitike has a long way to go before being good enough to be our main striker he 8/10 makes the wrong decision he is not very good at pressing as well so don't think he will bring an improvement on Isak on that and he is nowhere near as good a finisher as Isak.

As everyone has noticed this season our best player last season Szoboszlai is not as good as everyone thought in midfield.

Being the best off a bad bunch last season does not make you great.
We are 6 games in and all the players are learning how AI wants us to play Isak does not have to press like a monster just a slight improvement in all aspects of his game and big improvements on fitness levels of most of the squad as the season goes on will bring massive improvements don't take Sundays game into account city had a full squad to chose from we had a lot of injuries but was still the better team till there 12th man impacted the game.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 11:14:42
Wolverine, I don't think that Mac is a particularly foreign sounding surname? More Scottish really.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 10:22:34
Ron Keague - You don't just decide what nationality you are because you feel like it. That's not how it works. I know it's popular for people these days to wake up and decide they're a cat, a brick, or a transmutated amoeba, but that does not change anything. The Guy is English, end of.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 12:20:13
@Zeddicus - Mac comes from my first dog named Mac for short as wife's maiden name is MacDonough.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 12:22:23
@The Incredible Bulk - What does that make Halaand? Michael Olise? Antoine Semenyo?

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 12:27:56
TIB - I think you'll find his "nationality" is British.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 13:14:56
WolverineMac - What do you think it makes them?

Ron Keague - My nationality is British too, born in England, so i'm English, as well as British. The same applies for Koumas.

Come on guys, it's not that difficult.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 15:20:47
No one ever wanted peak Bobby replacing - he is a Jurgen GOAT.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 16:36:23
The Incredible Bulk - I would have thought that Haaland considers himself as a British Norwegian. No doubt he has both passports.

Talking personally, I see myself as both Cypriot and British. Having been born in the UK, bought up with Cypriot values and the culture and spending many summers with family in Cyprus too during the holidays.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Oct 2026 16:40:42
I think this is the view taken by the government. Being born in the UK gives no automatic birthright citizenship: Since January 1, 1983, being born in the UK does not automatically make you a British citizen. Hence why undocumented or non-British families: If born in the UK to parents who do not have legal status or citizenship, you are not automatically a British citizen and face removal or deportation.

So I guess they have no right to calling themselves British.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 11:41:41
Having the two of them, assuming they're both at full fitness, will take away from each other

There is no chance they return anything near the number of G/As what we've paid for and will continue to pay for

They're competing pieces not complimentary.

It'd make sense to sell one, preferably Isak, and use the funds elsewhere - either a backup or just put faith into Koumas / Wright, Danna etc.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 13:23:09
Koumas has done nothing to suggest he is, or is going to be good enough to lead Liverpools front line. Nowhere near either Ekitike or Isak and if either were injured does anyone really see him leading the line over multiple games?

Suggesting to sell either is crazy.
Koumas would not get in any of the "top six" teams.

Lets Just give him and others time to develop.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 17:27:25
Isak will score goals. His output is not a problem but he stifles out every other attacking outlet because he will always be in the centre. He doesn't press and tue movement of the ball is just not there.
He will still score when he starts but we will score more whenever he doesn't start.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Oct 2026 22:42:45
We do realise that Chester is 15 miles at most from Wrexham where the Koumas family run a chippy and have done for some time. Do you not think he spent a little time around Welsh culture? Or do you think the doors shut for him when he was born. Such a pedantic argument.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Oct 2026 14:15:59
He chose Wales because it is easier to get in their team.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 09:43:58
I know it was only LASK but I was very impressed with some of Barcolas tricks and skills Yesterday, that 1st touch to score his 2nd and that one nutmeg where he roled the ball through was filthy, I also loved his reaction when Koumas scored! If Koumas can work on his composure we have a really good youngster on our hands too. He has been around for so long i was surprised he just turned 21!

On another topic, why do Man United play on Sunday when they played on Tuesday and we play on Saturday when we played yesterday?? Its beyond stupid, equal opportunities and all? Just moronic to handicap certain teams this way.

Agree17 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 10:06:10
Barcola played with that arrogance that a player of his ability should play with.

If we could get Wirtz, Isak, Szob, Grav, Rio to play with the same arrogance we'd be some team.

There really is so much ability in our team I think a lot of people are underestimating just how good we could be.

Agree29 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 10:13:23
ASB it's because we play in the Champions League on Tuesday. Not ideal scheduling but it is what it is.

Agree13 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 11:26:28
I reckon Hull, Leeds & Ipswich will have been sweating over that perfomance last night.

Only a matter of time before Liverpool pull clear of these in the league.

All joking aside was great to watch the team back to winning ways.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 15:40:21
I think Koumas's composure was fine, it was more about timing is runs a tiny bit better. He scored all 3 when given the chance but 2 were offside!

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 22:06:26
What do modern day footballers need shin pads for? A lot cheaper to collapse on the floor and roll around at the first sign of someone looking like they may make a tackle.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 12:35:02
Endrick post from Carra today is interesting
Given Ekitike is likely to struggle for a good few months once he returns I would say this is a solid loan deal in my opinion.

15 Oct 2026 13:11:44
Endrick appears to be a weapons grade person head and he's also represented by RocNation. More red flags than the Chinese communist party.

Agree20 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 14:42:54

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Oct 2026 22:13:26
@Shughes, why is Eki "likely to struggle for a good few months once he returns"? What's your evidence and source for that? Wouldn't you say that he won't return until he is ready - wouldn't that make more sense? If, in your opinion, you want the club to bring in Endrick just say so and stop making up assumptions and pushing them forwards as fact to support your opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Oct 2026 13:41:35
I mentioned back in June we were looking at Gjivai Zechiël.

Had it again, we are continuing to show concrete interest in the player.

Also mentioned earlier this month about Joaquin Seys, he is definitely someone the club likes, price a issue.

Also i would not be surprised if we bid for Endrick in January.

Thanks Carra. At the right price that could be an astute signing and a much better fit for what Iraola wants from his midfielders than Macca long term. It would also fill the Curtis Jones shaped whole in the midfield depth. He's a really hard working midfielder, really good technically and decent in the tackle.

That reference is a real throwback, Ron. I'm sure I see someone reference Simao during the transfer window as well. Don't get me started on missing out on David Silva and then Juan Mata later.

Zechiel scored a goal last night against Como and put in an eye-catching performance in front of our scouts, apparently.

On first glance, he's bit like Gravy but has a decent long pass. He likes the Fabinho chipped pass into the box too.

I am not suggesting we sign him, markp08. Just sharing what I saw in the profile.

It's difficult to speculate on what the club's vision is for the midfield is. You would think Trey Nyoni features somewhere. Perhaps the answer lies there somewhere - what kind of player would most complement Trey in the future.

Interesting that we're apparently after Joaquin Seys, a left back in January who will cost close to what Kerkez cost.
It'll be a big positive if the lads real quality because Kerkez will certainly be fighting for his place.
Wirtz has taken a mountain of criticism but he was never replacing a top no 10 at the club.

Kerkez was seen as robbos replacement and he has been woeful. Nothing short of woeful. Premier League player accustomed to the league and has taken a year to *settle* in. His final ball isn't anywhere near good enough.

Agree13 Disagree0

13 Oct 2026 20:20:12
I think woeful is a tad harsh mate. Yes he needs to work on some parts of his game but I think there is a good player in there somewhere.

13 Oct 2026 20:53:36
Ron - Robbo wasn't pulling up any tree's for a good while when he came to the club & look how good a player he became.
Kerkez has had poor games undoubtably but there have been a number of established Liverpool players who've had a lot worse.

13 Oct 2026 21:15:19
Jeez Ron, you're on here daily to slag Kerkez off. Did he steal your last chip or something?

We do need a left back as a priority. Unfortunately neither of our left backs are good enough in any department.

Never seen Joaquin Seys play but I think good competition for Kerkez is what's needed.
Hopes one of them gets to Robbo's level but let's not be ridiculous in thinking Robbo was still anywhere near good enough he hadn't been for 2/3 seasons his legs where going after constantly playing Klopp's style of football.

He was still ok going forward but was caught out far too much.
Just hope we sign the guy in January along with a couple of cm and a right back.

Agree here Grino on the need for reinforcements but I can't see it all happening in Jan.
Iraola apparently has a clear idea on what the squad needs for the next few windows, RB is something they are looking to do business on in Jan I think LB might be next summer depending on Kerkez performances.
(I still agree he is poor and not good enough for first choice)
Personally I think the need for an all action midfielder is glaring, not a typical DM more finesse than that but someone who also loves a tackle.

(Sadiki for me) with another who has the ability to find a pass and keep the flow going (Gravenberch can do this but he is not top level)
Iraola also pushing for Zabaryni so I see some of the Klopp era players going next summer (VVD, Allison, Gomez)

Agree6 Disagree0

14 Oct 2026 03:37:17
I agree that OP is, along with many others, way too harsh on Kerkez. If anything he has improved in the last two games and I think he is being made the scapegoat for defensive problems. I agree that he can be a liability at times and competition for his place would help him and whoever else develop.

Right now, Tsimikas is not classed as competition so def need it. Looking at Svenson, Seys and maybe even Hall, though if he comes he will probably get top spot.

Agree4 Disagree0

14 Oct 2026 08:28:37
I agree with Ron. Kerkez is terrible. But like I have been saying for the last 18 months or so. Our recruitment has been awful since Klopp left. The players we have let go on a free and the replacements and new signings we have brought in is almost similar to the dalgleish to Souness transition.

Wirtz and Isak are prime examples of that. I think it will be a bumpy season. A few ups and definitely a lot of downs, but we cannot realistically expect much with this team. If anyone does the they really have their blinkers on.

Agree5 Disagree0

14 Oct 2026 08:50:06
We have neither a top level RB or LB at the club. Think about that for a team trying to win the big trophies. It's scandalous to see what we have for the money spent during the last couple of seasons.

We require one of each if we are in any way serious about progression. Along with a RW and 2 midfield players. But that's another days work.

Agree4 Disagree0

In my opinion Kerkez is nothing like as bad as RF says. When Gakpo plays on the left Kerkez gets little or no help. Any winger worth their salt should regularly beat a full back one on one and the problem for the team is to get support to the flanks, both left and right, and I feel this is partly due to the lack of a midfielder with defensive awareness.

Agree4 Disagree0

14 Oct 2026 11:47:01

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Oct 2026 13:42:25
Ah I remember the days of fleeting interest in Joaquin! I remember the jokes about him being superpowered by his mam's milk.

As for Joaquin Seys - he looks like a promising LB that can do a good job at RB too. Seems competent with his weaker foot which helps when inverting. He's not particularly quick but can run and run. If anything, he's a bit like a left-footed Conor Bradley.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Oct 2026 13:37:32

Kerkez had plenty chances and shown to be nowhere near what we need.
Move him on Jan and draw a line under him and gomez too.
Ping-pong isn't up to it either.
Why not go into south American Market and pick out some lesser known gems instead of stumping up top dollar for the big names.

Lower down teams seem to continue doing it, sell on fir massive profit and go again.
Cut out the middle man and go direct to source.
I'd get Tim vickers inside and get his inside knowledge on who's the next worldy.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Oct 2026 15:42:25
I'm with you Darren on the undiscovered gems but the issue seems to be a team of our size and with our wage bill struggles to get work permits for these players. I'm going to ask the Eds whether one of them can explain the rules.

Agree1 Disagree4

{Ed001's Note - you have to get points. It is much easier to get enough points when you are a smaller club, as you can pay them in the top bracket, which is one of the ways to get points.}

14 Oct 2026 16:13:07
The club are not going to ditch Kerkez in January.

Agree3 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 10:31:42
I will be surprised if we don't go in for Scott.

If by the end of the season Wirtz does not improve tremendously, then we should cut out losses. Some players just do not fit in to your team and you need to accept that in as much as you want them to do well.

I will be talking to Bayern to see if a deal can be done either for a swap with Olise or an outright sale. We can add Frimpong too.

Agree21 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 11:14:23
You will be talking to Bayern? Are you Julian Ward by any chance?

Agree22 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 11:16:31
I will say it differently.
I don't think Wirtz improves Bayern in any way.
They have a great team, ran PSG close last season in the CL but were weak defensively.
When Wirtz played at Leverkusen against us, he never stood out.
Last summer was possibly the worst scouting and recruitment the club has ever seen, and I was around for the Diouf, Pongolle, Babb, Ruddock, Eric Meier, Aquilsni times.
Wirtz - Bang Average at best
Kerkez- Shocking and I always wanted us to avoid, I said he was a headless chicken and he has proved me right.

Frimpong- Simply not a defender
Isak- I had big hopes for and he is a great finisher, but not suited to our team
Ekitike- Ou Rd best buy by far, but got a shocking bad injury and I now fear he will never be the same.
We have a mountain to climb to be competitive again and we are shockingly weak in midfield.
Will take 2-3 windows at least.

Agree24 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 11:58:38
What did Kerkez do wrong last night?

Agree28 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 12:36:25
I didn't mention last night but I could point out a plethora of other games where he consistently weakens our team with his defensive weaknesses.

Agree10 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 13:18:13
Kerkez is not in the category of a bad buy and neither is Isak. Wirtz and Frimpong I agree with but let's not start to get carried away doom mongering. This seasons tranfers have been fine once Bradley adjusts. Our problem is we over paid and in the case of Wirtz and Frimpong bought the wrong players.

Agree21 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 14:29:29
Kerkez delivery into the box is consistently very poor. Defensively he looks slightly better this season, only slightly.

Agree21 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 15:23:32
Well considering we had three clean sheets before last night and Kerkez is an integral part of that back 4, I'd say that his defensive weaknesses haven't been too exposed this year, or am I just hallucinating?

Agree22 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 15:28:46
The whole ten of them Sanjit? is it the other players making the ball bounce ten yards off him? He needs to do better. its hard his confidence must be low but he's got to find a way or he won't be at the club much longer.

Agree5 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 16:33:33
I agree, Sanjit, we should sell everyone and keep Wirtz. Or was your post said with irony?

Agree4 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 17:25:32
It's always someone else's issue except Wirtz isn't it? Of course it is!! I posted yesterday prior to ko that this was a perfect opportunity for FW to show his worth. Step up to the plate! Then someone replied that he couldn't because Gravenberch was taking his positions on the field of play. It looked to me that RG stepped up and FW shrunk. I've said all along that I'm willing to give him until the end of the season but it's looking increasingly obvious that Wirtz is absolutely not the 'generational talent' he was applauded as being.

And I'm with shughes. Kerkez is not a good LB and as I've said before there's just a mistake in him each game. He's just unreliable just like Isak but for different reasons. We cannot compete with unreliable players. The 3 of those plus our choice of replacing TAA with Frimpong has been a complete waste of 300 odd big ones but I'll still wait until next May in case something miraculous happens to them between now and then.

Agree6 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 17:30:14
Kerkez is a headless chicken, goes to the floor way to quickly, goes diving in when it isn't needed, has no idea how to play with the winger in front of him be it Gakpo, ngumoa, barcola and he can't cross. He's a liability. If Wirtz had passed instead of shooting, Kerkez would have taken the chance off Barcola and missed anyway.

And not sure jumping up and down waving his hands in the air will help Wirtz already blown confidence. Slight chance he still comes good but doesn't look like he has the ability to learn so I think what we see now is what we get.

Agree6 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 19:54:31
We are a team of great individuals. The collectivism Andoni speaks of is going to take some time to implement.
How long did it take Jurgen?

For me, Wirtz is suffering with a confidence issue - indecision has crept in. When Eki was playing, they had a great synergy developing.

Agree10 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 20:10:57
I do genuinely think, currently there are five better teams than us at least. I think we will miss out on champs league and I'm not sure what that means for AI. It's not really his fault. He has a lot of work to do and will need a good few windows. I wonder how many more windows we will go before we replace Fabinho lol.
On a positive note yesterday, I know people were giving off about Barcola but I saw him back defending a few times, I didn't expect that if I am honest.

I like Koumas but he's not a striker, and he is a bit of a headless chicken similar to Kerkez, but Kerkez more likely to make mistakes or get sent off. Frimpong a disaster and the midfield needs looked at.
I personally don't know what Wirtz is or what he is meant to do, but he isn't doing whatever we bought him for. He looks really really really basic and his performances are starting to affect the rest of the team I think. He needs to be dropped.

Agree3 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 22:19:25
Inbeta: What 5 teams (at least) are better than us? I'm guessing City & Arsenal take 2 spots but be genuinely interested in hearing who you think the other 3 are (and any others)

Agree5 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 23:14:15
I don't see Wirtz as the problem. The real issue is that our players aren't finishing the chances he creates. On top of that, he works incredibly hard off the ball and contributes a lot to our pressing.

I think we should stop criticizing him and give him time. The constant injuries to our attackers haven't helped either.

Remember when Wirtz and Ekitike were playing together consistently? They started building chemistry, and we looked like a much better team.

I'm confident Wirtz will come good soon. We just need to be patient and trust him.

Agree8 Disagree0

13 Oct 2026 01:10:25
Strengthen that midfield instead of gaping big holes and the team immediately tighten up, regardless of individual quality. I'm always baffled by the obsession of managers to all go for the same 4-3-3 nonsense. It's crazy how certain managers set a trend and the sheep follow. Klopp, Wenger etc, what happened to the arl 4-4-2?

@Vakpa yes, I would love to give him time but there's also the business side of things.

If after two seasons a 100 million pounds player hasn't come good, then I really don't know how much time he needs.

Do you give him time until his contract runs out or when can you say it is enough?

Agree0 Disagree0

We can't blame the players around Wirtz for the fact his first touch bounces 20 yards and he runs like he's having a bad dream.

13 Oct 2026 13:39:26
There's a very good Robbo interview on the overlap talking about the impact of last seasons tragedy on the integration, training etc of new players and basically saying need to write off last season. Considering he was amongst it, and it's Robbo I take his word on it so have given all newbies a free pass on last year and judging them at the end of this season alone.

Not saying they will come good but it takes a while to adapt to prem. Glass half full here.

Agree4 Disagree0

13 Oct 2026 14:06:25
I thought Kerkez played well. Completely nullified Ndiaye. He was the most attacking fullback in the league when we bought him.
Hopefully Iraola will bring that form back.

Agree4 Disagree0

13 Oct 2026 14:57:40
Surely this is on the manager? Wirtz's quality is undoubted but he is playing with zero confidence. In fact I could point to a few others who are the same. Barcola, Rio, Gravenberch (until the game on Sunday).

I had my reservations about Iraola when we appointed him and so far he's done absolutely nothing to change my mind.

Isn't he supposed to be a manager who gets the best out of players? He's made Wirtz even worse.

Wirtz needs to take some responsibility here too as he needs to get himself mentally right and he's not doing that but ultimately it's the managers job to prepare the team and make sure they are ready. Iraola is not showing me that he has the ability to manage top players.

Wirtz's head is obviously not in a good place so either sort it or take him out of the firing line and coach him. Just chucking him out onto the pitch and hoping he comes good isn't working and is starting to look a bit amateurish.

I'm giving Iraola time and haven't fully formed my opinion of him yet but so far my initial fears are being realised.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Oct 2026 17:34:52
Kerkez came over well in the press conference today - hadn't seen him in front of the cameras before - I now think there is a chance he can improve / be a bit calmer when needed and use his brain on the pitch.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Oct 2026 17:48:55
@rios stepovers, are you making yourself dizzy with too many step overs, this is on Iraola?
So it's Andoni's fault for the red card?
AI was not able to pick his top goalscorer, and his top assists attacker so far this season, that is 2/3rds of his first choice attack, one who was making his first ever PL debut was Isak's replacement Koumas.
Throw in Conor Bradley, Leoni, Hugo, Dominic who AI couldn't select either, that's five starters denied if everyone was fit:Gakpo, Isak, Hugo, Dominic, Bradley, that is half a team, man cheaty had a full strength squad and yet for 60 minutes( the red card) the XG figures for LFC was.89% and was double citys at.42% and that is virtually with a B team.

As for Florian he has missed one game this season so far, which was a 3-1 win for LFC!
For all the stick Kerkez receives above, the three man city goals came from the LFC right back position, so he did do something right on the left!

YNWA Andoni.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Oct 2026 07:07:06
This is not only on Wirtz, none of the Liverpool players offer what Wirtz needs to excel - Wirtz shines when he can play quick one - twos, which almost none of the the Liverpool forwards invite to (except Ekitike).

Wirtz needs that the forwards does opposite movements, to open the space for through balls, or play a quick one-two. Just watch some Leverkusen games, and you will see why he have not succeeded in Liverpool.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Oct 2026 08:53:22
But that's the point isn't it. None of us are saying he's a bad player but if he can't tweak his game to suit the team then there was no point signing him / no point playing him as we are not going to buy a new squad to fit his style of pay so surely he will be the one that makes way.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Oct 2026 22:17:22
Let's be all entirely honest.
Every single one of us would swap wirtz with Bellingham. So you can't entirely protect a player that we know could be upgraded.
Reasons may vary. Judes a very good player at real at best. His club form is different from his England form.
However, you're at least getting a no 10 in bellingham who also can actually play like a third midfielder due to his athleticism, pace and physicality.

Then you're adding in some goals and assists. We're getting nothing out of this lad for what should be expected. He's on over 300k a week .
I think wirtz and Liverpool may have been a bad match up. The lad may proper at bayern next season.

Agree27 Disagree0

11 Oct 2026 22:29:51
I just think the recruitment in general over last couple of years has been awful. The sh*t fullbacks, the injury prone forward who doesn't work, the failure to sign a DM. The failure to replace Salah's goals. The failure to recruit an elite manager. We will end up where we end up this season. Right now, it looks like some of the teams that are above us, might just stay above us this season.

I completely agree with you regarding Wirtz. He is not suited to the league nor the team. I think it's time for him to move on. He has not made any impact over the last season and a half, and hasn't improved either. I'd say he probably wants to go as well. Doesn't look happy.

Agree23 Disagree47

{Ed666's Note - Richard Hughes is arguably the worst sporting director in football history. Im incredulous at his legacy.

Agree24 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 00:49:04
Wirtz is sat on 200kpw so no idea where the 300k comes from. If you watched him for Bayer or Germany you will see he has two midfielders behind who do all the work allowing him todo is thing. At Bayer he was a left 10 drifting in the pockets or to the left and with Germany he plays similar.

Last season when we played fast football in a couple of games he was brilliant. The thing is as Carragher pointed out he is a luxury player we never needed.

Agree8 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 01:38:47

There are so many better players out there that produce consistently better displays than this lad.

Hughes chose a couple of players at best, and even Frimpong was bought just to ease the Wirtz deal along.

Agree3 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 09:06:47
Bellinghams name even been mentioned is a waste of time. We have a top manager. Cant be called elite because he hasn't won anything yet but he is a top top manager. We will get Chamions League football which will be his remit. Anything more than that would be a massive bonus.

We lost at home with half a team to for me the best team in the league this season. Dont see the need for panic. Oeople just need to manage their expectations which is why I said all summer I would take 5th.

Agree9 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 09:32:51
I'd swap Wirtz for Cherki, odegard, palmer, fernandes. Basically any other 10 for any of the top teams. Seen enough now to know he hasn't got the mentality to succeed - his confidence is shot but he is scared of taking any ownership of a game. Not knee jerk but should be sold to Bayern in next window if they will have him.

Agree5 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 11:01:59
Odegaard, Palmer and Fernandez is not even close to Wirtz, but the most on here knows as much on tactics as Carra and Neville, thank God Iraola doesn't listen to you guys.
Tha team needs backing right now not bashing.

Come Christmas we will be a lot better, and you will all feel a lot better if you also supported the team during the learning period. I bet some you bashers will have too eat some humble pie later in the year.

Agree8 Disagree7

{Ed025's Note - which Christmas do you think that will be JC?..

12 Oct 2026 12:18:21
Red-JC, And yet every single one of those players have all got far better stats in the Prem than Wirtz, so how does that work?

As a Liverpool fan I hate complimenting them, but Fernandes is leagues above Wirtz, he's arguably the best goal-scoring midfielder the Prem has seen in the last decade. Nobody puts up the numbers he does, he's in Lampard territory, an absolute cretin of a human but an excellent footballer, Wirtz couldn't lace his boots at the moment.

The likes of Palmer and Odegard might not have the same finesse or natural ability as Wirtz but what they do have, they can actually apply, something Wirtz isn't doing at the moment, he doesn't look like he could do it in a 5-a-side right now never mind the Prem.

Now I'm not a Wirtz basher at all, but it's time for him to step up, he needs to start performing, he looks like a lamb in a lions den out there.

Agree3 Disagree0

12 Oct 2026 12:32:11
Stats is for TV og commentators, you cannot build an opinion on that solely. Fernandez gave so many balls away at Chelsea, scoring a goal once a wile doesn't make up for that. I did not say he was a bad player, but take Anderson out, who covers for him constantly and he would be a fart.
We doesn't have a player like that at the moment, so Wirtz will sometimes look like juggling with danger.

He is allowed to take chances or else it would just be Slot all over again.
And stats will never show how good he is at tuning into free areas and doesn't get the pass. Stats is only for goals and chances created. How many chances did Fernandez create yesterday?
