I personally thought Neco had a pretty bad game to be honest. Gave Auba way too much room for their goal and was constantly caught too far in field leaving their winger free. He was also clearly not able to think as quickly as his teammates in attack.

I’m not on his case because he’s a young lad.

Neco will learn from this game. He was decent BUT not terrible. Auba does that to seasoned professionals so what chance does a rookie lad has against him? You live and you learn.

As to the OP's point, anyone taking this game/ result seriously needs to give their heads a wobble. Nobody cares about the result cos it will be irrelevant come end of the season.

He’ll learn far more from a game like today than he would of if he was being babysat by superior players or playing in a lesser league like the championship. All part of the process!

Ed047, you should see the abuse the kid is getting on SM right now. Some of our fans are the worst, IMO. The fact that you have more sense and are more measured in your assessment of young Neco than some of our own, is a damning indictment on some of our fans' poor mentality.

You simply cannot win these guys. They say we should give kids a chance and when Klopp does and the kid has a rookie performance with a mistake here or there (wow, clearly that never happened in world football history before Neco showed up), they want him benched and never seen again. Pathetic.

Neco will be fine, Klopp likes the lad and he is the best man manager out there to bring him along his journey.

It’s just really sad when he gets a hammering for what? 🤷‍♂️
