Spot on, Longthing76. OP, the transfer fees are not the big cash-eater in LFC. It is wages. We have the highest or top three wage bills in the PL at over 300m for a reason.

Yeah when you have a collection of some of the best players in the world in their position the most important thing is to pay them well and keep them happy. That's the FSG way and it works! But all within a structured set-up. No Bale or Sanchez earning absolutely ridiculous money and then being stuck with them when things go sour. I seem to recall we'd a passing interest in Max Meyer but baulked at his wage demands. Dunno what Palace are paying him but it seems his career could be going better if he hadn't been so focused on money, money, money. Just an example, but we want players whose primary motivation is playing football is and winning trophies. Salah and Thiago being prime examples.

Very true JM though sadly a lot of players are driven by their agents. Quite often impressionable young men seen as dollar signs and often not given the best advice for their football careers but sometimes purely their financial ones.

Well what about lallana, lovren, sturridge all earning over 100k a week off the books and clyne and Moreno too gone out in the same period where we have added no big players. If thiago has a wage that is costing less than what any 2 of those combined why is that a problem,? Too much negative moans about what we spend yet never acknowledge the financial benefits when we move on a player.

Pretty sure net spend is a meaningless figure mate but you’re right we do need to offload some players now. I dread to think how much Thiago has added to our yearly costs although I am very exited to have him.
