Ed001 what would you do with the defence mate next game? Is Matip due back for WHM? Out of the youngsters who do you think is most ready to come in Rhys or Koumetio?

{Ed001's Note - Matip is a possibility. I have never seen Koumetio play to have any idea about him.}

Billy has a lot of potential but still is very young and has a lot to learn.

Rhys is more ready to come in and we have seen him perform at a good enough standard to be able to compete at the top, clearly Klopp see's him as the 5th choice currently.

hope he can continue to take his chance given the current situation!

Phillips should be given a go and ryhs Williams, koumetio is way too young at 17 he has hardly played reserve footy even .

We’ve just been given a boost with the news that Antonio is out for West Ham tomorrow. He’d have given any of our central defenders problems, least of all one of the younger ones were they playing.
If Matip is not fit, I’d put Henderson in there and Thiago in midfield (if he’s fit) .
I just think it’s too risky to start a PL match without an established first teamer at centre defence.

I don't get why Klopp doesn't even trust Phillips enough to name him on the bench. The lad has a lot more experience than Williams and had an Ok season in the German second division last year.

I remember seeing Ferdinand for West Ham at Anfield, I believe he was only 18, and he looked the real deal, age is no barrier to talent. If our hand is forced then it's forced and we should trust these guys as they are part of the squad for a reason. Ideally players are managed but look at Fowler, Macca, Redknapp, James, Owen and Trent. Other teams have allowed pure raw talent thrive it up to the fans to support them when thrown in to the lions den!

Why would people think of putting a midfielder such as Henderson in defence? Can people not see where that might come unstuck? It’s a little different playing Fabinho there who used to play in defence!

Didn’t Klopp put Hendo at centre back for a game last season. I’m guessing Klopp now falls into the some people

Played cb against Monterrey, hardly the same as playing against premiership opponents. When you have younger cover who play the position it makes about as much sense as putting a attacker in goal. Playing a midfielder as cb is asking for problems which will lead to mistakes in my opinion.

Pretty sure Klopp played a midfielder (Fab) at centre back for the last few games not forgetting Chelsea. I’m not saying Hendo should play there because I agree midfielders should stay in midfield but clearly Klopp has already disagreed that it makes as much sense as having an attacker in goal. After all it’s him who picks the team.

Pretty sure Fabinho started playing his career in defence so is used to watching the line and stepping up when needed. All I can see with playing he do there is he’ll get caught out playing people on side.

He might have mate. I always thought he was a right back or centre mid but who knows. Don’t forget we had Milner at left back for a season as well. We could have given a young left back a chance but Klopp chose not to. In Klopp I trust though whatever he decides.

Playing full back is totally different to playing cb especially in today’s modern football.
