Hi Ed001,
Hope you're well.
All this talk of selling to buy, and particularly one or more of our 'big' players.
But do you think that Klopp is ruthless enough to want to do this?
He's obviously very close and protective of his players and I wonder if there's a touch of the Shankly over-loyalty rather than the Paisley ruthlessness about him?
Be interesting to know what you and others think.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know because he has never been in a position to have the choice before. In the past the clubs sold his best players out from under him. So it might be more of a case of not wanting to have to rebuild that will stop him, due to his previous experiences, rather than being overly loyal.}

He’s already indicated that he doesn’t see a total rebuild being necessary.
I think it’ll be pruning the squad and renewing depth and options.
I don’t see Klopp looking to sell Salah, Mane or Firmino unless they ask / agitate to leave.
In which case we can forget all talk of Haaland, Sancho et al.
It just brings into question what shape the squad could be in when 2024 comes around?

He’s recently come out to say that if anyone wants to leave because we may not have champions league next season, they welcome to do so. He’s also been very quick to cut out line the likes of Sakho etc. when he felt they weren’t committed enough.

In short, I have every confidence Klopp won’t make the mistake of being overly loyal to players who aren’t prepared to give everything for the club.

Nice response, Ed. I keep hearing the "Klopp is too loyal" stuff BUT I never heard someone with your take on it before. This is why football is a great sport. Cos things are almost never what they seem.
