LiverpoolFC08, I have no idea either. The kid has been performing at the highest level for the past three years BUT cos he is struggling now in a team struggling for form all season, let us move him into midfield cos clearly that would fix things. Beggars belief really.

5 years at the club. No major injuries ever. Probably the most used midfielder in Klopp's reign. Changed his role from what he was, to whatever Klopp was asking him to do at the time, regardless if he had the skills for it or not. And then that night at Anfield against Barcelona where he ensured we, the clear underdogs, came out on top. I think he deserves more than the treatment he is getting from the fans.

If it's not broken then why fix it? Why have so many gotten this bug in the head about TAA in midfield? What does he add that is missing in midfield? Whose position would he take? And why not Robbo then? TAA is the starter at right back, he's earned the spot and is still damn good at it. Let him be. I'd be fine with him retiring while still playing the same position.

Liverpool fc08. Because he's a defensive liability and we'd be much better having a natural RB who can defend and cross our system had been found out so Trent playing cm in the hendo role with Jones and fab should be the future.

Funny how I only read that during a period when his (and many other players) form has dipped.
He didn't look a defensive liability to me when we were romping to CL finals and the Premiership.

If they mean players can get in behind him when he is attacking, then that is not him that is at fault. If they think he can't defend one on one or in general, then they are just talking nonsense. He is one of the better right-backs in the game defensively now and has improved his game in leaps and bounds over the last few years in that aspect.}

I don't think for one minute trent is a poor defender one of the best right fulls. I just believe he is so talented he could influence games even more from midfield, score from distance something we lack.

{Ed077's Note - But who replaces TAA in defence. He has been one of the best players in the league when playing RB. He has struggled a bit this season but you need one of the best around to fill the void left by TAA in the Rb slot of he were to be moved into a midfield role.}

LancasterRed, Lamptey is more of a defensive liability than TAA would ever be and is nowhere near TAA's ability as a RB (offensively or defensively), IMO so why replace the best RB in the league arguably, with someone even worse just so he can go play in a midfield position he has not played in years? That thinking makes very little sense, mate.
