Do bissouma and de Paul play in the same positions same type of player! I’ll be honest I’ve absolutely no clue about them can any reds fill me in as I’ve seen a few links to them?

{Ed002's Note - Both nominally play as CM players although De Paul is far more versatile and can play in other positions.}

Hi Jay. If you're thinking could we sign both then I'd say yes in theory but we'd probably have to sell Keita and Ox. Bissouma is more box to box and would make a good replacement for Gini whereas de Paul has played this season as a right sided attacking creative player but as ed002 says he is versatile and could cover other positions. I think de Paul has the most assists in Serie A this year.

Rumour on the mill is that Bissouma has handed in a transfer request today, can't see it being accurate on Brighton game day but any truth to it eds?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if he has or not, but whilst Brighton will resist any approaches there is a huge push for him to move on this summer, so it makes some sense. He shares a "representative" but not agent with Pepe who he spent a season with at Lille and he failed to persuade Arsenal to move for him - and since then Arsenal have signed Partey and a change in the decision process at Arsenal means any move is unlikely unless they can clear the clutter of Torreira, Xhaka and Guendouzi - then they could look to him to play alongside Partey. An upgrade on Xhaka and Elneny and will add experience if Dani Ceballos departs. Spurs and Monaco may also provide options. He is another who would be off to the Africa Cup of Nations in January 2022 and not Home Grown makes him less attractive to most English sides although both Liverpool and Leicester have spoken with his representative, but Leicester have another solution pretty much agreed, and his "representative" would like him to move on. There is a further complication in that his family is directly involved in all major decisions.}

De Paul reminds me a bit more of Henderson in that season he had with Gerrard. We do miss Hendo energy when he’s out. Not saying DePaul would replace him.

I like the idea of the more creative option, we need more going forward from our midfield. But we also need the increased energy and drive so I would be happy with either.

Cheers Kirkby so we’ve no chance in getting them your telling me 😅🤣🤣 joking aside I’d love both but shipping Keita and ox I don’t know.

Thanks for the in depth reply Ed002, appreciate you.

Ox going nowhere lads. His nationality saves him. We are very close to the limit of non home grown players.

Oddly enough, Klopp said that Keita has a place in the team around 10 days ago and then repeated the same thing about Ox, a few days ago. I don't know if it's his posturing with future transfers in mind (hyping them up) or he's decided he will always have 2-3 designated players perpetually glued to the physio rooms on high salaries.

I hope we get Bisouma cos I think he can fill a couple of needs in CM due to his versatility. As for Keita, I think Klopp is done with him and I don’t read too much into what Klopp said about him cos he defended Karius in public while finalising the deal for Allison.

{Ed0666's Note - if we get bissouma I’d expect us to challenge next season

09 May 2021 20:32:39
Ed0666, have we a realistic chance of getting him? Hopefully Lallana is telling him how great the place is.

{Ed0666's Note - realistic is subjective but put youreself in bissoumas position would you wanna play for a team flirting with relegation or for a team with a realistic chance of winning the premiership who have a vacant position for you to play in?
