Is Konate realy a 44 million player tho? I mean he wasn't first choice until the other guy left for bayern last window. Is he that good?

It’s about £37m good price IMO. He is 21 and has all the attributes to challenge Gomez for a starting 11 spot. Can play rb as well. We will need a few more additions but this is a good start.

Taking injuries out of the equation he is the perfect central defender for us. He’s had terrible luck with a big injury that is the only reason he isn’t first choice.

Of course those injuries are a huge worry and we can only hope the club has done their due diligence and knows what they are doing. I can only assume he has got over them and will continue to grow as an excellent central defender, only 21 as well.

No he is not in my opinion. 40 bigones for backup defender is major wastage of funds.
Not to mention we have screwed about with leipzig over his transfer.
He is a decent signing for 20odd + maybe one of our lads going the other direction.
Matip has played more games than him over last two years!
He is 21 and not a great defender although am just saying this based on two games i saw him play this season both of which he got substituted in around 65 min mark.

He isn't going to be a signing like vvd or dias. 40 or more for depth is a bit too much given the financial conditions. I mean why not pay 50 for a sure shot starter like badashille/ torres / tapsoba / tah who can hit the ground running and have gomez and philips to cover.

This transfer looks desperate and half thought. It also looks like we have been chasing him since last season so we have spent a lot of time on it and now we just want to pull it off.

He hasn't kicked a ball in two years for leipzig. It just smells danger and this could be high risk high reward or just a disaster.

This is not sure shot improvement like when we signed VVD. I am very against it because better defenders are definitely available.

It seems done though so i guess he has my support but I don't have much expectation of him going into next season. He will be one for the future for me.

Akira, why are you comparing Konate to Dias or VVD? That makes no sense at all. Also you say he hasn’t kicked a ball on two years which is false cos he player games this season and was on the bench against us in the CL as he was just back from injury. I mean, a lot of your post is just devoid of any facts, really.

You may not like Konate and that is fine BUTno need to start making stuff up to bash the kid when he is yet to kick a ball for us. And comparing him to VVD and Dias is just dishonest cos you know he is not at that level especially at 21. Nobody even thought VVD would amount to anything at 21 so in fact, he is already well ahead of VVD in this regard. Get a grip, man.

Agree with Olired. Konate has played for Leipzig this season and sure he played against us, looking far more assured than Upamenco did in that game. Ultimately, we all know a fraction of what the recruitment and football guys at Liverpool know. This isn't football manager (although I do go through sales and transfer in my head as if it is :) ) and we've just got to trust what they do and support whoever comes in.

So many of our fans say ynwa but are embarrassing. Messaging Naby asking when will he leave etc. I agree the lad probably needs to go, but I'd wish him well if he does.

Support the players, enjoy the good times and be there in the bad. Part and parcel of being a supporter.

He hasn't played. 13 games this year 8 starts 8 last season 6 starts. So i am correct in saying he hasn't played that warrants his price tag and also that's less than matip. Facts. Also being on bench is not playing.

I never compared him to vvd or dias and i said to be aware that he won't have impact like those signings. And there are defenders available who can impact like vvd and dias.

So may be read it right with open eyes before bantering. Also i am just setting expectations. He is not who i want. But i also wrote i will support him if the club thinks he is the best fit.
