Well if that was supposed to be De Zerbi’s audition for the job, he absolutely f@cked it in my eyes.

They went 1-0 with a half chance in 2nd minute and then immediately went to sh@thouse time wasting, diving and park the bus football.

They pass the ball around well but that’s about it.

That match was horrendous to watch precisely because of De Zerbi. He should be nowhere near a top team, especially us. They are fairly handy in possession though it’s very difficult to interrupt their play when the referee is hellbent on stopping us from competing for the ball. Out of possession, however, they are one of the worst teams in the league. The only reason that game didn’t finish 5-1 is because, yet again, we are largely atrocious in front of goal.
One more thing, David Coote is not a professional referee and shouldn’t be officiating games in any of the 4 English professional leagues.
All in all, a useful three points.

Not sure how that was horrendous to watch. I enjoyed it.

Mac was phenomenal today fair play to him. Has to be up there for our player of the season.

Coote was awful. No idea what his decision making was at times and when he went behind the goal to move the two balls he reminded me of mr bean.

Yep Mac was a joy to watch. He's been good all season but really been our best player since Endo took the 6 position. While I think Mac can definitely play the 6 having Endo there really allows him to pull strings in the final third. Nice to see Szoboszlai looking like he has some energy back for the run in. Just need salah to get sharp again and I think we've got a big chance to win the title.

@Red-Will, you’ve just made a case for Endo being the player of the year. He’s certainly been the bargain buy of the year across the PL.

I thought BHA were well organised and hard to break down.

Can’t criticise their manager for that. I was relieved to hear the final whistle put it that way.

{Ed025's Note - should have won a lot easier for me Ron, i thought they offered very little mate and if Mo had had his shooting boots on it could have been a rout..

They are a relatively small squad and lost a major component of last season’s team when Macca and Caicedo left. They have a relatively small squad and have suffered with injuries. I’’m not sure who could have done much better with Brighton this season. I’m not saying he should be our next manager but I think some of the stuff being levelled at him isn’t called for.

{Ed001's Note - they do not have a relatively small squad, they have a huge one mate. They also have access to a number of feeder clubs. They lost just two players, while spending record amounts on forwards.}

Looking at Transfermarkt their spend and income on transfers was roughly the same. They brought in Pedro (from Watford) @ €34m, Baleba from Lille @ 27m, Verbruggen from Anderlecht @ €20m and Igor from Florentine for just over €16m. Everyone else was under €10m or loans.

They sold Calceido to Chelsea, Macca to us and Sanchez to Chelsea for €116m, €42m and just short of €29m respectively. They may have numbers but it’s more quantity than quality, imho. Losing Mitoma for two or three months (according to the manager) is a blow for them.

I’m not sure if I’d want him as our manager but I think a manager with potential might ‘raise their game’ with the talent and potential available in the current Liverpool squad.

{Ed001's Note - so they don't have a relatively small squad then? Let's just leave it as you were wrong and now you are twisting things rather than admit it.}
