Ed002 id let you take me ma out for a chip butty and a pint of babysham.
But not ed025 as he’d tell everyone in the pub that it was like “throwing a welly up an entry”

Ed002, If you haven't got time for another Sharkopod, as you're travelling, have you got time for a quick message of who we've been looking at recently?
I'd love you as much as harry loves ed001 if you do xxxx.

{Ed002's Note - I expect the needs will be for: CB, LM, CM/AM

I would expect Liverpool to look at the midfield next summer and still look to a LM and again an AM - they are two positions where there could be improvement. I suspect that a CB may well need to be added but that ssuming Lovren leaves. Liverpool may look to bolster the HG quota and have looked at Dael Fry (CB), Ben White (CB) and Ben Godfrey (CB). Much will depend on youngsters developing and how Gomez does - assuming Lovren is leaving.

Bilel Hassaini (RW) was looked at several times last season but is in a state of flux right now and you can likely forget him.

Piotr Zielinski (CM/LM) speculative but Klopp has had interest for sometime and he will be one of the Napoli players made available - but would expect to be a starter.

Filip Stevanovic (LW/AM) Partizan Belgrade kiddie who has been watched by Spurs, Borussia Dortmund, Torino, Liverpool, Lazio, Atlanta, Herta Berlin, Werder Bremen and Southampton. And I suspect others. Unlikely to leave until 2021.

Mohammed Daramy (F) kiddie has been looked at and might be seen as a replacement for Liam Miller (F) who has no future at Liverpool and will leave.

Aside from that it is critical that Liverpool identify if any senior players are looking to leave - the more notice they have of that the better the opportunity to plan.}

Thanks for the post ed just wondering do you expect many senior players leaving likes of lallana kieta possibly milner for example not that I would like any of them to leave before I get slaughtered just lallana rarely features milner comes across like he loves to play week in and week and kieta just doesn't seem to catch a break although all have class.

{Ed002's Note - I expect Lovren to leave, probably Lallana and perhaps Milner. The club will want to see if any of the front three are thinking of leaving.}

16 Nov 2019 18:12:56
Ed if we are looking at a CM or LM then some would need to leave as you suggest.

{Ed002's Note - The club should now be in the position of minor improvement going forward. When a senior player is moving on there needs to be a good replacement.}

Cheers Ed. I get exactly what your saying, I just thought we have multiple options for midfield but if Zielinski plays on the left then it would make perfect sense.

Thank you ed 2.

Shocked we aren't looking for full back cover Milner is our left full after robbo and Gomez for Trent neither are naturally full backs and they are vital to how we play strange one for me.

{Ed002's Note - Maybe if Liverpool were sell the two excellent young LB s they have who are waiting for a chance the club could look to another “marquee” signing to sit on the bench with Mbappe and the others. You need to get the Adam Lewis and Yasser Larouci “out” campaign going.}

haha, good one Ed002.
Yes dezy it's shocking! That you haven't been paying attention to the model that's been put in place.
Don't forget the 'Hoever and Neco Out! ' banner at the next game. And that exciting young James Norris needs to be got rid asap. ;)

I'd really like to see if klopp doesn't target any full backs in the next couple of transfer windows as it would be a positive reflection that he sees enough quality in our younger lads to step up to first team standard. Klopp will know his players better than any of us so his transfer actions in the near future will give us hints as to how the kids are progressing. Be great to see any of Hoever, neco, Lewis, laroucci step up as today's market is seeing hugely overrated full backs costing far more than they're worth. Most top sides have at least 1 back up full back who cost 25/ 30mil+.

I'd like to see our main target be a young energetic pacy wide player who can offer similar direct danger from either wing in the role of salah or mane without having to change our attacking style too much. A young raw player who can be polished into our system and be challenged to earn his position as our front 3 gets freshened up in the near future, this doesn't need to be a marquee proven name, trust our scouts to find another gem.

Lovren will likely need replacing unless we see a huge growth in quality from our teenage CBs.

Shaqiri realistically moving on hopefully can see Jones or Elliot take the chance to stake their worth

Milners contribution is one that is near impossible to replaced but a maturing professional Jordan Henderson soon going into his 30s is as good as anyone around to give us similar attribrutes as Milner showed when called upon to do a job. The likes of keita and OX can be like new signings while the door is open for the youngsters to take their chance. We've seen plenty of examples that klopp doesn't build a squad so black and white with players being replaced directly in or out.
When everyone was screaming for a LB, he used Milner for a year until he identified Robbo as his man.
When everyone was screaming for a CB after we fluffed up VVD deal us fans wanted guys like tarkowski, Keane and lascelles to name a few be urgently signed instead that summer.
When clyne got loaned out when he was used for 1 game in 2 years klopp got ridiculed for bad judgement.
When we didn't replace an ageing injury prone lazy striker who gets 2 or 3 goals a season klopp got criticism despite a younger hungry exciting talent being far more useful than sturridge.
When coutinho was sold for twice his actual value and we didn't instantly throw that silly money to get asensio, Rodriguez, lemar, insigne or those other players so called like for like. Instead the OX improved the team in coutinhos absence despite 6 months previous his signing getting slaughtered for a waste of money.
This summer everyone screaming we need to keep Harry Wilson, and we need a creative mega money signing like fernandes, zaha, Pepe as examples who were the missing link. Within the last 2 seasons I've regularly seen calls for matip, lovren, Henderson, wijnaldum, origi to be urgently upgraded while signings of Robertson and oxlade Chamberlain were scrutinised as poor by many who instead were purring to see guys like kolasinac or kovacic instead.

My point is that our current setup is built on subtle tweaks over time and adjusting at a pace that doesn't disrupt much within the squad. The likes of emre can, coutinho, Moreno, sturridge, sakho were easily let go without needing to replace and we've always improved anyway. Lallana and shaqiri currently don't need replacements as they offer near zero contribution. Since lallana was last important to our performances we've added OX, Fabinho, keita and shaqiri. Since shaqiri was last playing 10 months ago we've added OX, origi and a fit keita into contention who weren't available when shaq was playing. Youngsters can fill those roles.

I think we only need a raw pacy winger and maybe a defender if lovren is out. We should be looking at where we struggle in our play when not at full strength and target those signings. When salah or mane aren't both playing, our whole build up play suffers. Origi Brewster or shaqiri offer different things but we need a player in the pacy winger mould as priority I think. Defence only needs strengthening if klopp can't trust 2 of our young defenders to be called on if robbo, a CB or Trent need to be filled in. The likes of city, spurs, Chelsea, United and arsenal have all recently spent big money on overpriced defenders who often end sitting on the bench or unhappy.
For me our midfield right now is the strongest it's ever been under klopp. Fabinho, OX, keita all still mid 20s, Henderson and wijnaldum late 20s and have both shown since the start of 2019 they have finally grown into game changing leaders capable of grabbing games by the scruff when previously they spent years going missing. Milner then is the perfect option to use his versatility and still playing to the standards of an elite footballer. Ox and keita will only get better and stronger while the others are peaking, . Not important for me to go messing with that midfield unless Milner and keita both leave next summer. Grujic or curtis Jones can hopefully slot in.

Common theme during the summer was everyone claiming our lack of transfers was going to be our downfall this year but history always shows that a squad that is settled and happy is the best set up to enjoy a few years of success and also these teams tend to often see youngsters breaking through more than most. When Ferguson was building a united team to dominate for a couple of seasons he only ever tweaked it slightly with transfers when the team was balanced and strong already. Milan around the mid 00s used the same core for seasons and grew into the best team around until they started to overhaul with signings. Barcas dominance then under rijkaard and pep was enjoyed for years with nearly just 1 player being changed per season. Bayern were winning for years with virtually the same squad kept together. Real madrid recently won many CL titles with navas carvajal, ramos, modric, kroos, casemeiro, bale, benzema, Ronaldo all virtually playing together the last 5 or 6 years. City signed just 1 player the summer after they got 100 points. They won the treble the next season.
Chelsea have shown they can have 1 strong season but without a settled team over the last 15 years they can never build on their success for more than a season. Spurs enjoyed the 2 best seasons they've had in the premier league and Europe while they never made a transfer in that time, they've weakened as a team since they added some new transfers who haven't been improvements. Chelsea under lampard look a real likeable team who are flowing with confidence, his transfer ban has let him work with a settled young hungry team. Leicesters starting 11 has only ayoze Perez added to it while an unsettled Maguire was shown the door.
Teams like Norwich, villa, Everton struggling this year as they changed so many players, Fulham last year.

Only sign players if you have to, if your squad is already in a shape to win and still showing signs of improving then don't mess with it unless important players have to leave which is less likely to occur in a settled team destined for glory. Klopp wanted lovren to stay another season im guessing because he didn't want to have to buy a replacement when he might believe that another season will see one of the young lads ready, Moreno not replaced, sturridge being let go and Brewster slowly integrated into his spot. We're in an excellent position of strength right now so nothing major needs adjusting I hope.
