Ed002 I know what you've said about Werner in the past. BUT has anything changed recently and do you know or heard anything about us being in talks with his club and his agent which is being reported in the press . or is it all bull as usual. not sure what I think about this as I really can't see where he would fit in to our starting 11 at the moment. obviously things happen and people are expected to leave in the summer but I'm hoping our front 3 stay intact. sorry if you've had enough of questions about Werner it's just he seems to be cropping up a lot lately with links to us.

{Ed002's Note - The last we knew was the involvement of Oliver Mintzlaff who has asked Karlheinz Forster (the "agent" of Werner) about whether or not Klopp or anyone else from Liverpool (or any other club I would think) has spoken directly with Werner. If Liverpool has now approached his club and are in the position of having some sort of feen and has permission to negotiate with the player then it has happened in the paste 48 hours since his club has starter their investigations. How much has Liverpool agreed to pay Dortmund?}

Sorry Ed who is Oliver Mintzlaff?

{Ed002's Note - Red Bull's Head of Football.}

Dortmund Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Should be RBL, sorry.}

26 Feb 2020 20:54:25
Not tapping up again surely?

{Ed002's Note - RBL are looking at it after recent events - it seems it is now being reported Liverpool are working a deal. This will put off other clubs and could leave RBL with a toxic player. Liverpool has a history of this and it has got worse under Klopp. But I don’t know if it is true that Liverpool have now gotten in to this position - neither do his club.}

Ed sorry how do you mean it will put off other clubs and leave RBL with a toxic player? Sorry I don’t follow.

{Ed002's Note - f a player has been tapped up such that he wants to join one club over any other (such as van Dijk who Liverpool got to really screw his club and go on strike), took other clubs such as Manchester City and Arsenal out of the equation. It is cheating and Liverpool paid way ver the odds to avoid charges. One would have thought we have seen the last of this, we’ll see.}

Owe right I see. I truly hope we have gone about it the correct way then this time if there has been any contact at all.

Thanks Ed for telling us what you know.

{Ed002's Note - I really hope the club has done as well.}

Oh god i hope we haven't been tapping up again, i don't think an apology will be enough this time.

Relax folks, people are getting their knickers in a twist over a tweet from some Italian journo, why is he not been looked at as unreliable like the fat kid from Bolton. don't expect the worst without any proof whatsoever.

26 Feb 2020 23:10:46
Are you able to confirm Either way Ed If there has been some contact or not over last 48hours?

{Ed002's Note - I have explained - RBL are looking in to the potential that a club has directly approached the player - Liverpool has not made an offer to RBL.}

27 Feb 2020 02:45:07
Did it happen with fekir as well ed?

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

Ed002 am i right in believing that Liverpool can touch base with Forster to sound out possible interest but can't progress further than that unless RBL agree eg can't agree package or anything similar?

{Ed002's Note - The process should be along the lines of: Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered but no more than that. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent formally about a transfer and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak formally to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.

Agents will often try and get more specific details of wages and other financials before they should - but most clubs are happy to follow this process. Players will often talk to other players about moves but, whilst wrong, is tolerated as it would be impossible to manage.}

did RBL have a bit of trouble with Timo Werner last summer as he wanted a move but know one come in for him so he signed a new deal. Is there a problem if clubs have spoken to his agent to see if there is any interest from him to joining there club before they waist time negotiating with RBL or any club or play to that point. And if his agent is speaking to clubs is it a bit like Salah agent with Madrid. I think the van Dijk one was different because Klopp spoke to him his self. As for us revealing are interest to unsettle players don't most of the big sides do that Barcelona and Madrid do it all the time.

{Ed002's Note - Last summer there was an approach from PSG who wanted Werner as a Cavani replacement - in the end Cavani stayed and they took Icardi on loan. The player has always said he wants to play for Manchester United one day but a move last summer was not possible and then Werner said he wanted tp play for Bayern Munich over all others. There was a third patrty trying to negotiate for a BM move but they were a long way apart on price and RBL looked to extend. As BM were expected to need Werner this coming summer, a release clause was agreed with his new contract that would make him available at a low fee so RBL would keep him another year and then he could move to Bayern Munich this summer.}

Cheers Ed, glad you know the ins and outs of every club in Europe. Your record has been exemplary, would be such a shame if we've tapped up Werner. Liverpool the only club in the world to do it. Keep up the good work. Must be a real pain to keep up with all this information you get told by the biggest clubs in football.
