Ed01 i was hoping to get your opinion on this. do you think we are at our prime? Or do you think our team can still grow?

{Ed001's Note - there is still some room to grow. We have not peaked just yet.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Given the ages of a lot of our players I think there is plenty of growth!

Plus as we all wait for the Naby of old to burst through this season!

Absolutely Ed01. We have a nice balance. Only milner and lallana in their 30s (Adrian 30+? ) we have a lot of players 25/ 26/ 27. Keita is still young and he's had a lot of pressure to perform and been unlucky with injuries. He'll become massive for us I'm sure.

I'd say we are just moving into our prime and if they stick together (which I think they will, maybe salah, or milner to Leeds. ) but there seems a real bond between the lads. It's like nothing I've seen for ages. They're actually playing with a smile on their faces. Trent, mane, salah, Firmino, robbo. Obviously the midfield don't smile much, but they've been chipping in with goals. Wouldn't want em to smile when tackling fernandiinio. In fact CBs get trained in war face, on thursdays they gdt Martin keown in. he's not cheap but you get what you pay for. He supplied all the bandages and insists that iron lung stays on for as long as its needed. What a guy.

We've got dome exciting players coming through, Gomez and trent of course. But eliot and especially rhyan brewster. I think he will one day partner rashford for england, kane and brewster would be better. I reckon origi and brewster, old fashioned two man striking pairing, could work.

I really like origi. I think he needs to be given premiership starts. Don't you always feel like he's going to score. He's gone up about 3 levels. He's definitely one of the best footballers, technic.

What areas do you think the team need the most improvement in at the monent, Ed001?

Red Sandman.

{Ed001's Note - goal scoring, they have not been scoring the goals they should have this season. It feels like someone is going to pay sooner or later.}

Defence could improve slightly more too.

Put a fiver on Salah to Leeds United, cheers Robbie.

OP, not even close, man. IMO, we have not peaked at all. There is still some room for improvement esp. with squad depth at the FB position and esp. in the way we control games. We are still struggling with finding the right balance whenever we are with a good lead and that is what has led to us conceding avoidable goals even tho, they are mostly consolation goals.

And to your point Ed01, I fully agree. We are not scoring as many goals as the amount of chances we create should warrant, IMO. I mentioned this once on a thread. For ex. look at the Leicester and Spurs games at home recently. I mean, we created enuff chances to score 4 goals in each game YET we only score two in each game (a penalty to win in each game) so it makes it look like we scraped thru whereas both teams got absolutely pummeled in terms in the games themselves. We need to improve there.

{Ed001's Note - it is worrying when you are not scoring enough.}

If you look at the age and current ability of the defence I can only see further improvement. If Gomez can grow into the centre back we all thought he would be before he broke his leg alongside big Virg who will be at the top of his game for a good few years to come. Ali is v young for a top keeper who knows how much better Robbo can get, his rise has been unbelievable. Trent will go on to be one of the best footballers in the world imo, but as we know that might be in midfield. Fabinho is a beast and still has years. Ox and k
Keita too if they stay injury free. Hendo due to heel and Milly aren't going to improve, who knows what Gini is capable of the guy has constantly surprised me and become rock solid reliable top level cm. Salah, Firmino, Mane probably won't get much better due to their age all probabaly speaking at the same time. Mane seems to be top of his game for the last year. and well how can the front 3 get better? Other than scoring a higher percentage of their shots more consistently? If we can keep this current squad together and somehow bring in promising youngsters to replace the milners, Hendo, Lallana. And to gradually mix in with the front 3 over the next few years we could really build a longstanding run of trophy winning seasons. It's a wonderful time to be a red.

Agreed, we're not scoring enough BUT imo I think we were spoilt rotten last season, scoring left right and center, we're not scoring enough this season but at the same time we're getting the goals when we need them. We can also discuss how we're conceding often, more often than we'd like but again, we're getting them points racked up so imo it's working and we're just fine, question is, for how long?

It's pretty clear we have one of the best starting 11 in the world right now but to keep us up here we need a few things ironing out.

We need some quality cover imo especially for the fullback positions, trent or robbo gets injured and we're going to know about it, same goes for all the positions if you think about it. Hardest thing is, whoever is quality enough to play for Liverpool, are they willing to sit on the bench? it's one of them but I trust the club and I'm really not fussed at the moment, I'm happy and enjoying our progress.

On this topic i would like to ask the Ed something.

Do you think the lack of goals (meaning lack of bucketload of goals) is because once we get into a winning position the team decreases its intensity and goes into game management mode? Higher intensity throughout the game could me risk of injury.

I know we've taken it to the wire with recent results (spurs, Leicester, villa) but as a general game plan i mean.

{Ed001's Note - no, it is because we miss too many chances.}
