As Liverpool fan I would like to pass on to Manchester United my thoughts and prayers for all who were lost in Munich air disaster.

Agree13 Disagree0

Someone mentioned recently the LFCtv documentary ‘Us and them’ about the rivalry with Man Utd. But the point was made that the two places are very much alike and just different sides of the same coin. Watching it, I was struck by people like Peter Hooton who said that his generation all loved George Best and the older Liverpool fan who remembered Munich and the effect it had on the country, never mind football. His wish was for both sets of fans to respect the other, both clubs have had their tragedies.

All my heart-felt wishes go to Manchester Utd on this solemn day. Stay strong, lads!

I'll echo these sentiments.

Can I ask, do man utd fans offer similar messages of support on the Hillsborough anniversaries? Because I've seen BOTH sets of fans doing some pretty vile actions in the crowd.

{Ed025's Note - every team has its fair share of idiots robbie but thankfully its a small minority, usually you will find that uniteds supporters show a great deal of sympathy for the tragedy that was hillsborough, supporters of both sides become more vocal depending on how their team is performing mate, if their team is doing well you will find that the vitriol is less than if they are performing badly i have found..

I was,21 years of age at the time of Munich and I have to say at that time there was nothing like the bile that exists now. The majority of supporters throughout football greatly admired Matt Busby and the babes, Duncan Edwards was really admired and it was such a tradjedy.

Fully in agreement with Evered. Ferguson has a lot to answer for in fanning the flames of animosity.

Some things are more important than football and as passionate as I am about my team I can find only sadness in 8 young boys losing their lives in the Munich disaster regardless of the team they represented.
May they all rest in peace. YNWA.

I don't think finger pointing is necessary in this post, especially from Liverpool fans who are certainly no Angel's Redplanet.

Juices quote says it all it's a lack of respect from scrots who don't hold any value of what it is to be a human being and unfortunately these are the voices that get heard decent people with no controversy are not news worthy.

{Ed001's Note - very true and Redplanet is completely missing the point. Ferguson was the first to get in touch with LFC after Hillsborough. He was always extremely helpful to the families as well. If you are stupid enough to believe that giving people nasty abuse is ok over a game, then whatever Fergie did is irrelevant. It is just an excuse by people like Redplanet to excuse a group of morons with no morals or respect.}
