I'm shocked at the naive comments and sheer cockiness here! Yes it's absolutely amazing Liverpool are champions straight after being European an world champions - so please enjoy every moment and have that extra banter all of next season long against your mates. But come on I know and you know lfc needs refreshing to stay ahead. which doesn't seem like they will and it's going to be extremely tight next year with United Chelsea city Liverpool maybe arsenal we don't know next year everyone is even . look how easily the gap between Man City an lfc got overturned on 1 season. So this gap we have now will automatically become irrelevant next season. so all this ten points ahead nonsense is ridiculous . lfc need huge luck to even have a chance next season with the same team cos it will be harder.

And what makes you think we need refreshing to stay ahead next season and luck? 🤔 What's the difference between someone predicting we'll finish 10 points clear an you predicting we'll struggle without signings?

10 Jul 2020 12:35:40
I totally agree my friend.

Totally agree Redrebel1, I said our midfield needs something different in terms of weighing in with goals also cover for left back and a good back up striker. It doesn’t mean our team is not good, as the table proves that, just that we need to freshen things and stay ahead of the competition who are strengthening. The only issue we have is money, which we unfortunately don’t have abundance of due to C.V. so we have to integrate Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot and Neco Williams into the team next season.

Injuries will be the main factor for us next season. I think if we were to lose Any of Alisson (I know we lost him this season), VVD, Taa, Robbo or the front 3 for an extended period of time then it could affect us as the players that come in to replace them would see a significant drop in quality from what they offer us. I know Williams looks a good prospect but it’s unknown whether he will be able to contribute double figure assists that we are lucky to get from our fullbacks currently.

The mantra has to remain the same, 1 game at a time, once you start getting complacent and think you finish x points ahead year in year out is when you start going backwards.

The issue is not how many points we are going to be ahead or behind. The issue has now become whether different levels of support or even lack of support are going to be allowed on these pages. If one guy is super enthusiastic and predicts 30 points ahead and another guy predicts 30 points behind, it's no longer acceptable? Who decides this on this forum? Where are the guidelines for a "middle part of the road" that all posters must adhere to? Who decides what is reasonable and fair? All this on a forum founded on rumours and banter?

Negativeredwalter was negative all the time. The Radio guy has a long history of getting orgasmic rapture from non-LFC players and criticizing our own. But it's all allowed and people rightly say it should and can continue. Salah (the poster) was all gung-ho last year predicting victory at every single game and he was almost driven off the site. Because others have the magic formula for "being reasonable or realistic" or something?

I predict that we will finish 5-10 points ahead of the next team for next year. It's a combination of my hope for the team because I am a lifelong supporter and because of my personal assessment of how the other teams will perform. Nobody should have a problem with that.

It comes down to whether you're a glass half full or half empty kind of person. For me there is only 1 way to be right now.

Yeah sure City, Chelsea, United, Arsenal whoever may improve but they'd all give an arm and a leg to be in our position with our squad with our manager etc etc.

Sure we don't need to be overly cocky and arrogant but we don't need to be pessimistic either that is also completely idiotic.

Brilliant post ArAy1969 👏Thank you for putting across better than I can 😁.

Historically retaining the premier league title is hard. We need to have the same injury record as this season which I don't think we get enough credit for keeping the main 11 so fit. But also have some youngsters / squad players step up and push the first 11 to keep them on their toes.

10 Jul 2020 13:52:33
I think we just need to accept that everyone has the right to their own opinion. Someone’s opposite opinion should have little to no affect on us. If someone wants to say we will win the league by 30 points let them. If someone wants to say we will get relegated then let them. No one is a better supporter than the next on this site we are all in it together.

Very well said JK23.

This side needs some fine tuning and not much more for the 20/ 21 season. Some of the other sides mentioned in the original post (United/ Arsenal) are at least 4/ 5 players short of challenging Liverpool or City. Chelsea seem to be buying well but we don't know if Lampard is that good a manager just yet.

I know we shouldn't stand still but we should look to add quality not quantity. If we can only afford one player but that player is world class in his position then great. We don't want to be adding 3 or 4 average players, we've been there before.

11 Jul 2020 07:25:40
Actually, I've changed my mind, we'll win it by atleast 22 points ;) .

It's not about been cocky about it, it's about believing in the best team in the world right now. I respect the other teams but I just know Liverpool are capable of anything, this team is the best team we've had for bloody years and look at what they're achieving. So yeah, damn right I believe we'll do it again next season. It's not as if this season was close was it? we flew away with it because we are the best! and will do again next season.

11 Jul 2020 13:32:51
Err OP, so you are calling people cocky and all that cos they have the unmitigated gaul to disagree with you or your opinion? This may be news to you but people are allowed to say what they want and express their views regardless of what you and I may feel about it.

IMO, your posts is full of absolutes which does not fully support your argument. Secondly, it took us two seasons to destroy City's points gap lover us, not one season and if you thought that was easy then indeed, you are the one being cocky, IMO.

Also, you saying we need luck to retain the title next season is like preaching to the choir. Of course, we need luck. You think City did not need any luck to dominate the last two seasons, along with LFC getting 97 points last season and 92 this season? Come on, man you make it sound as if LFC don't do what you want, we will struggle and fall of a cliff or the gap will be irrelevant next season, as you pontificated earlier. We all want our team to improve so please chill out and see what happens.
