Hi Ed's, not about Liverpool, just wondered if you knew.
Should United win the UEL, what happens to the other teams in Europe, do Leicester then get the 4th UcL spot from the league?
Not sure what the rules are. Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - It makes no difference to the CL. There would be five teams.}

Agree0 Disagree0

What do you mean there would be 5 teams?
Do Leicester get the spot then?

{Ed002's Note - Of course not. The winners of the Europa League get it.}

02 Aug 2020 15:05:13
there would still be 4 since United already clinched a champions league spot. If Wolves won it, then there would be 5 premier league clubs in the UCL.

{Ed002's Note - If an English side wins the Europa League.}

02 Aug 2020 15:47:49
So if united win the Europa league, there are still just 4 teams in the UCL.

{Ed002's Note - Yes. Why would tehre be more?}

02 Aug 2020 15:56:33
Was just wondering. If wolves win the UEL they get UCL, having previously had no European football. So who misses out on a champions league spot if wolves get it?

{Ed002's Note - No one - there would be five teams - I don't get why you are struggling so much with this.}

02 Aug 2020 16:31:01
Ed002 you didn't explain it in simple enough terms for them 🤣.

02 Aug 2020 16:33:48
Patience of a Saint there ed02. Kept scrolling down expecting a typical!

02 Aug 2020 16:45:44
Or maybe he didn’t understand my point, like none of you do before you start laughing.

02 Aug 2020 16:37:32
Because if man united win the Europa league then only 4 English teams get in. But if wolves win 5 teams get in, so if Man U win then what happens to the leftover spot.

{Ed002's Note - There is no leftover spot.}

02 Aug 2020 17:51:04
Good grief, this is not that hard to grasp, is it?

02 Aug 2020 17:53:16
So if united win the EL then Liverpool qualify for the UCL? Lol I'm teasing sorry.

02 Aug 2020 19:05:27
So just to clarify, if Stevenage win the UCL and vauxhall motors win the europa league, then everton take the 5th champions league spot?

02 Aug 2020 19:23:56
If aliens come down and they replace one of the teams in the EL and they win, what will happen then?

02 Aug 2020 20:08:09
Think ye are being a bit harsh on YoungRed lads. If a team who has not already qualified for the Champions League wins the Europa League then they qualify for the Champions League. In terms of the English League that would mean the 5 clubs if Wolves won it. If Utd won it then it's still only 4 clubs so that's what YoungRed means about the "leftover" spot. I presume it means if someone like Wolves win it then there is one less qualifying spot elsewhere.

{Ed002's Note - No, nobody loses out.}

03 Aug 2020 01:29:56
Thank you Sean, that’s why I’m trying to, even if poorly worded, say. There is potential for 8 English teams in Europe, so who would miss out should wolves win the UEL, would it be spurs, or a foreign qualifying team?
Sorry for the confusion Ed’s.

02 Aug 2020 23:04:09
Ok thanks Ed002, I actually just have to admit that I don't understand how and we will leave it at that 😁.

03 Aug 2020 05:35:08
The question was valid and worth asking if not sure. The reason people are having a giggle with it is because ed02 answered the question about 5 times. If wolves win the el then 5 teams in the cl. If utd win the el then 4 teams qualify for the cl. It's very simple.

I hope wolves win it and qualify. For one they are a brilliant little team. Before the cv19 lock down and before Watford beat us, wolves was the one game that really tested us. Traore was flying past Robbo and Jiminez looked dangerous.

Secondly, if they qualify for cl then there's no chance they sell Jiminez to utd. I think he'd really improve utd. Dunno if there's any truth in the rumours but he'd be a fantastic signing imo.

Does anyone think he'd work in our team. Would we need a super creative mid if Bobby wasn't our cf? I really like Jiminez. One of my favourite players.

03 Aug 2020 09:33:07
it was confusing because earlier in the thread Ed2 said there would be 5 times in response to when YR asked what would happen if United win UEL. I think that was a typo and would have confused YR.

03 Aug 2020 10:29:16
Thank you lads. Reading back I can see why there was some laughter. I failed to put my point across properly, but we got there in the end.
Thanks for your patience Ed’s, was needed😅.

03 Aug 2020 15:13:09
If a top 4 team wins the Europa league, they are qualified anyway and it makes no difference to anything.

If an outsider wins it, the top 4 still qualify and the outsider qualifies.

Basically, the Europa league final is a qualification spot in it’s own right unless the winning team has already qualified. It has no effect on the league whatsoever.

03 Aug 2020 19:56:49
Hi Robbie, you say it's very simple and yet what you have said contradicts what Ed002 has said.

Everyone knows if Wolves win it there will be 5 English clubs instead of 4.

There will still be 32 overall in the group stages so if Utd won it then 4 English clubs plus 28 others, if Wolves win it then 5 English clubs plus 27 others. 28 v 27 non-english clubs is what the post is about.
