If this season has taught us one thing its you can never have enough centre backs.

Normally i would be very happy that Liverpool have been linked with such a quality player, but i have to say i am alarmed by his recent injury record.

On this basis i would pay the money for Kabak and keep Phillips.
As for the players we no longer need we must not price them out of a transfer this year, let them go and have a career elsewhere.

Lastly if i was in charge i would make this the last year of Salah, Mane and Firmino, we have done well with jota and i accept we won't be buying Mbappe or Haaland but they are not the only strikers on the planet who could refresh our attack.

Just as long as ADAMA does not come oiling himself up in the liverpool kit i will be very happy indeed.

Lastly does anybody on this site seriously think we will see Ben Davies play for liverpool? why he did not join celtic just baffles me.

Klopp, wages city and all its goodies. The attraction speaks volumes about King Kenny, I don't think we will see him play. Like you rightfully said at the start of your post, we do need rotation at CB, whether his quality tickles your fancy is another fish to fry. I would think Klopp and his buddies are finally happy with settle back 4.

I’ve seen reports that Kabak is actually valued at close to 30 mill rather than the 20 mill we have agreed to pay if we take up the option. That tells me that we might actually sign him as not only is he young but he will have a resale value in the future if it doesn’t work out. Most fans favour Phillips over Kabak but In my opinion i believe Klopp is of the opposite opinion and we might actually sell Phillips to raise the fund to pay for Kabak. Or Davies could be the one sold to make a quick profit on what we paid for him in Jan. Only time will tell.

Kabak will only retain that valuation if he continues to play though. if we sign konate he will be 4th choice at best.

Glad we have Kabak on loan so that we can play our midfielders in midfield again, however from what I've seen of him so far I wouldn't say we definitely should be looking to sign him permanently.

Still plenty matches left to play and he is young but I don't know is he a bit rash and seems to be caught out quite a bit. He gets himself out of trouble half the time with his speed so maybe he just needs more time to settle and more coaching to cut down on the frequency of being out of position.

Den that’s very true about Kabak needing to play to retain that valuation. On the subject of Kabak I think he’s done ok since coming in. He’s actually done a little better every game he’s played so hopefully that continues. The one thing he has on his side is age. He’s still only 21 and has played CL football at Gala at 18 and Budesliga the last 2 seasons. Compare that to our other defenders and at that age Vvd was playing for Groningen, Matip was also at Shalke, Gomez was with us Be it playing LB, RB or CB, Phillips was playing reserve football and Davies was at Fleetwod on loan. Could probably look at lots of other centre half’s out there and see if they were ripping it up at the age of 21 as well because not many spring to mind without researching it.

As I have said before, Kabak and Phillips are pretty much auditioning for a spot at CB right now due to the amount of CB’s currently in the books. The only diff is that one is free and the other will cost money. I also think if Kabak does not make it here, some Bundesliga club will sign him cos I do not believe for one second that he will follow Schalke into relegation. Same with Phillips. A PL or newly promoted club club could take him on if he is the one to go. We shall see.

It will b interesting to see which of the two gets kept or maybe both could be kept depending on Matip being moved on and uncertainty inhoud both VVD and Gomez will come back from their injuries cos no one really knows right now.
